Welcome to today. This week off to an eventful start for the west coast. Absolutely. L. A. Was jolted by a strong earthquake within last 40 minutes. 6 25 pacific. Centered about five miles northwest of westwood. Lets get to Miguel Almaguer. He is on the phone with us. Good morning, miguel, what can you tell us . Miguel . Do we have miguel . Apparently we dont. As we said, 4. 4 on the scale. We will go back to miguel in a couple of minutes. To a Major Development for the search for Malaysia Flight 370. Nbcs tom costello has been falling this. Following this. Hi, matt. Malaysian investigators say they believe it was the copilot on the radio with air Traffic Controllers saying good night. But its not clear if that was before or after one of the critical flight data transmitting systems was turned off. The two possible tracks of this plane based on those limited satellite pings suggested the plane either passed over some of the worlds most volatile countries with advanced air Defense Systems or over one of the largest bodies of water on earth with no radar and limited satellite coverage. More than ten days since flight 370 disappeared, and the mystery still dominates the world headlines, the last satellite signal received from the plane, somewhere along these two arcs running to the north and south. Up to seven hours from the planes last known radar hit off malaysias west coast. But half dozen countries in central asia have already said the plane never appeared on their radars. Further south of the indian ocean, 28 million square miles of water. And what were going to do, is monitor across the world and it may change aviation history. I think it seems to be that way. Reporter over the weekend, Malaysian Police searched the homes of the captain zaharie shah and first officer fariq hamid, confiscating the sophisticated Flight Simulator in captain shahs home, looking for any evidence he might have practiced flying unusual routes. Also, this morning, the pilot was known to be a supporter of the malaysias political opposition. Seen here wearing a tshirt that reads democracy is dead. Meanwhile, nasa tells nbc news, its checking images from satellites and the space station for any signs of the plane. But many aviation experts believe its highly unlikely the 777 with the wingspan 2 3 the size of a football field could have been stolen and flown undetected to another country. Were talking about a very, very large airplane. If it goes over land where there are people, people are going to see it. Theres going to be comment about it. Still, with so little to go on, the indian navy has now suspended its search, and other countries may be forced to do the same. How much more can they afford to put into this search before they have to give it up because they just wont have the resources to be able to pay for it. The Australian Navy is deemploying assets as well. We talked about those underwater pingers attached to the black boxes. Depending on the water temperature and depth, they can only be heard by a submarine or a ship, if they are almost on top of those pingers. And those batteries are set to die in about 19 days now, matt. Tom costello, thank you very much. Were joined now by nbc news terrorism analyst don borelli and former ntsb investigator greg feith. Good morning to both of you. And don, let me start with you. I want to start with that final radio transmission about 1 20 in the morning from the cockpit. Someone we now believe was the copilot. Says, all right, good night. Calm, collected, no emotion. And we also note that transmission came 12 minutes after the acars Communication System on this plane was turned off by someone in that very cockpit. What does it tell us . Well, it speaks to the fact have said, this was a deliberate act. Next thing is, if it was a deliberate act. Number one, who did it . And two, what was the motive . Which is why the investigation has turned heavily looking at the pilots or anybody else on that plane that had the capacity to take over and fly. When you talk about the capacity because there were a series of steps taken that require a level of expertise not only disabling the Communications Devices and the transponder, but then the flight path, knowing where they were going in an area that probably was going to evade radar. Exactly. And im sure an aviation expert like greg could speak to the tactical maneuvers involved to avoid the radar. But again, the deliberate act to avoid detection speaks to there is a motive there. We just need to figure out what that motive is. Investigators now are talking to the family members and the friends of the pilot and the copilot. We should mention these two men did not request to fly together according to the airline. It doesnt seem they were in on it together. What are they going to hope to glean from their homes, the Flight Simulator and their family and friends. Essentially anything to figure out were there emotional issues . Financial issues . Im a terrorism guy. So naturally, im thinking. Do they have links to any organized Terrorism Organization like jamas lamia thats been active in Southeast Asia . Again, that could take time to find those threads of evidence to trace them back to any organized group. And real quickly, in terms of a criminal investigation, some questions about whether this plane could have been landed at some remote destination to be used for another purpose later. Your gut on that is . It would take. Theres a lot of moving parts to do that. Youve got to land a plane in some sovereign countrys territory. Then youve got to take control of 200 plus passengers. And to what end. And the fact theres no chatter in the Intelligence Community talking about such a plot, it seems unlikely, but im not going to rule it out. Greg, lets go inside that cockpit once again. We showed the simulator last week. To turn off the acar system on this plane is not as simple as the flip of one switch, is it . No, it isnt. Because the acar system, its two parts, matt. Its actually a box that provides information. Its always on. Its always hot, if you will. Its energized. What the pilots can control is the data portion. That is the information thats the repository from the airplane that will eventually be sent over the acar system by a satellite. They can turn that off and they can do that on one of the control heads on the Center Pedestal in the airplane. They have to follow a sequence of switches that leads to a computer screen that leads to keyboards, then information has to be put into that computer. When it comes to the transponder, its a dial, we showed that, you hold it down and you turn it. There is one place you can stop that dial setting 7500. What does that do, greg . That fourdigit code is a universal code that blossoms on an air Traffic Controllers radar screen that indicates that the crew in this particular instance has a situation going on in the airplane, a hijacking. And that pilot, if hes under duress, if hes good, he could turn that dial, put that 7500 code in before if hes been told to turn it off, he could get that code in there and send that signal. But they did not do that, indicating they were either told not to do that or didnt want to do it. Whichever pilot. Greg, with all of your expertise, focus clearly on the pilots right now in your opinion . I believe that for the, you know, the past week. I mean, ive seen too many of these things. And when you have all of these deliberate actions, matt, where the flight track has changed and, of course, now this southerly track, which ive talked about in the past, as well. All of the northerly track countries have said, we dont have this aircraft in any way, shape or form on our radar or any other tracking device. And its evidence they didnt whoevers flying this airplane didnt want to be tracked, didnt want to be identified, and the best place to go is south because there is no radar coverage and little satellite coverage because its not a volatile area. A strong jolt at 6 25 this morning. It began as a subtle roll and shake and rattle and roll depending where you are. There are no early reports of damage across the city. Lucy jones with the usgs says there will likely be no structure problems from any buildings in the region. She did say it is a reminder for folks living out west this is earthquake country. We need to be prepared. I can tell you savannah, i was at the gym when the earthquake happened. There was a calm roll and a steady more significant jolt. People began to run for the exits. Many looked around and stunned. As i made my way in, folks on the freeway were going slower here in los angeles. It was certainly a significant jolt this morning here. Always a scare. Nbcs chief Foreign Correspondent Richard Engel is in crimea. Richard, good morning. Reporter good morning. With the sanctions, this is an enormous victory for Vladimir Putin. Returning crimea, which was part of the soviet union to russia. Preparations are underway to phase out the currency and replace it with the rupel and replace the time zone with moscow time. The riot police are out in force in the crimea capital this morning to make sure no one dare try to reverse the march toward joining russia. Officially, 97 of crimeans voted to become part of russia. It seems like we got a little freedom and justice. Reporter but many said the vote can hardly be considered free or fair. Russian troops, which captured crimea by force last month, stood guard as votes were cast. Russian Armored Vehicles outside polling stations were a sign of how moscow wanted this vote to go. Activists like you have been beaten here. Reporter activist dennis matzolo said posters were put up warning his neighbors he was a traitor. According to the deputy Prime Minister, this is just the beginning of ukraines division. You think this is the first step . Yes. Other regions will follow . I think so. The second step will be with east ukraine. Reporter protests have already begun in Eastern Ukraine asking for a referendum and to join putins expansion plan. Cold war rhetoric is also increasing in moscow. A Russian Television presenter said on russian state tv said that russia is the only country that can reduce u. S. , quote, to radioactive dust. S taking control of a commercial tanker that had been seized by armed libyans earlier this month. Nbcs Jim Miklaszewski is at the pentagon with the very latest. Jim, good morning. Good morning, natalie. U. S. Officials are calling this operation flawless. This happened in the Eastern Mediterranean off the coast of cyprus when the team of the navy s. E. A. L. S team slipped aboard the hijacked libyan oil tanker and quickly overpowered the three libyan hijackers. U. S. Officials say that nobody was hurt and its not clear that any shots were even fired. Now, the three hijackers themselves are members of a powerful libyan militia. And they actually seized the ship while in port in libya. Evidence once more that the Libyan Government is still pretty much powerless more than two years after the overthrow of moammar gadhafi. Meanwhile, jim at the pentagon, you have been following the other big story, the militarys high profile case of Sexual Assault is going to come to an end later today with some of the most serious charges being dropped against a Brigadier General in favor of a plea deal. Tell us more. Thats right, natalie. This is a huge black mark against the entire army. Its the first general ever to be charged with Sexual Assault. Reporter the militarys expected to drop Sexual Assault charges against Brigadier General Jeffrey Sinclair accused of assaulting a female captain in his command. In exchange, hell plead guilty to lesser charges. That means sinclair will not face a number of Sexual Assault charges and charges of alleged Death Threats against his accuser. The agreement ends a 27year military career. Sinclair is accused of engaging in illegal Sexual Conduct even as he led americas 82nd Airborne Division in afghanistan. The deal comes in the wake of a new pentagon report that shows a 60 increase in reported military Sexual Assaults last year. And the renewed congressional push for an overhaul of just how military courts handle the cases. Just last week, the Senate Unanimously passed a widereaching measure authored by senators Claire Mccaskill and kelly ayotte. If youve commit Sexual Assault, you need to be held accountable for your actions. But the bill provides less protection for military assault victims than many wanted and still may not make it through the house. I frankly think the agreement that was struck in the house, in the Defense Authorization bill strikes the correct balance. And so i dont, frankly, see any reason at this point for any further action to be taken. Theres no indication that general sinclair is totally off the hook. He pleaded guilty to several other charges. No matter the sentence, the victims will claim that the military Justice System has failed them again. Natalie. Jim, thank you. Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas will be at the white house today for a critical meeting with president obama. On the agenda, the progress in the Palestinian Peace negotiations. The Obama Administration is backing off that april 29th deadline for a deal. Instead, it is looking to build the framework for negotiations. Some scary moments for passengers on board a Delta Airlines flight on sunday after a panel on one of the wings fell off. Imagine looking out your window and seeing this. Well, happened during a flight from orlando to atlanta. A delta Spokesman Says the detached panel did not impact the aircrafts ability to fly and landed safely in atlanta. The airline is inspecting the plane to determine why that panel came loose. And honda is recalling the odyssey. It affects the 2005 to 2010. A fuel pump cover is known to crack and cause fuel leaks. It says van owners will be notified next month. And being stuck in traffic can be maddening, but its not as bad if you have someone to pass the time. Im laura garciacannon. A homeless man is charged with murder accused of stabbing a teenager at a popular park. Police found 24yearold todd farksr with serious injuries and took him to the hospital. While investigating they learned that a boy had been stabbed and taken to the hospital as well. But was pronounced dead before 3 00 this morning. After talking to star investigators determined that he stabbed the teen. He was taken into custody. Police looking for a driver who not only hit a pedestrian but dragged them across the roadway. Officers found the pedestrian in the roadway on willow pass road about three miles from the concord b. A. R. T. Station. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators say a fire was sparked by marijuana grow operation. The fire was reported last night on lanier lane near pellier drive. Up to 70 plants were found in the garage. Australia is leading the search for malaysia Airlines Flight 370 in the southern portion of the indian ocean today. Federal offices and Public Schools are closed in washington, d. C. Today as officials there deal with that winter storm, 1 2 foot of snow expected. And, yes, its time to fill out your brackets, the ncaa tournament seatings are out. Florida, arizona, Wichita State and virginia grabbing the number one seeds. Well see how long we last in our bracket. All right. And then saturday morning, savannah singing im getting married in the evening. Weve got more on savannahs big wedding this weekend. Yeah. A lot to chat about. What would you do . The lifechanging decision some families are having to make tied to the legalization of marijuana to help their sick children. But first, we want to get to the Oscar Pistorius trial. Its day 11. And prosecutors are laying out their case against the olympic sprinter. Today, nbcs jeff rossen has been following this trial from the start. Jeff joins us from the courthouse. Good morning. Reporter hey, savannah, good morning to you. Right now, prosecutors are trying to make that case for premeditated murder that oscar intentionally killed his girlfriend reeva steenkamp. Tifis guns, he has many of them, he had to take a written test about when youre allowed to shoot someone in selfdefense. Theyre trying to establish he knew the difference between right and wrong. In court this morning, reeva steenkamps mother is back. She hasnt been here since day one, too disturbing. Sitting feet away, Oscar Pistorius watching intently as prosecutors showed more crime scene photos of his bedroom, and mysterious blood spatter on the wall above the head board. Remember, the shooting happened down the hall in the bathroom. On the stand, a firearms expert who didnt want to appear on camera going over oscars old gun exam. Off the windows and enter the house through the window. They start to remove it, can you discharge a firearm at them at this point . Oscar answered, no, life is not in danger. Turns out, long before shooting and killing reeva, which oscar says was an accident, he thought it was an intruder, oscar had another incident where he thought he heard an intruder. He went into what we call code red or combat mode, in other words drew his gun. And when he came to the source of the noise, it was the laundry or something in the laundry. But he never fired. Selfcontrol, proved prosecutors say, he shot reeva on purpose. So the big question now, whats next in this trial. We went straight to a South African legal expert. In my opinion, only when oscar testifies, this trial is going to start. Hes going to have to prove to the court that he acted in selfdefense. The prosecutors theory that oscar and reeva got into a fight that night, but still havent said what that fight is about. So do they need to prove motive . In order to successfully prosecute oscar on a charge of premeditated murder, they will have to prove motive. Maybe with the iphones and content of the iphones may come into play. Those iphones could hold the key to this case. Who are oscar and reeva talking to in the hours, the moments right before the shooting . By the way, i mentioned reevas mom June Steenkamp is in court today. For the first time, oscar acknowledged her walking by, nodding his head. And i want to show you this moment, too. On the right, the brunette, thats amy pistorius, oscars sister walking over to reevas mom, talking to her for a couple of minutes. They were talking for a couple of minutes. And theyve talked before in court, as well. No question about it, savannah, both families have been torn apart by this. Absolutely. Jeff rossen, thank you so much. Whereas today out west where the jet stream goes up to the north, las vegas is at 82, phoenix, 86, denver, 11 degrees above normal with a high of 66. The good news is, we will see a change coming. You can look at the temperatures, the warmth blooming from the west through the south into the Midatlantic States and not even so cold into the northeast. It still 7 35. Happy st. It just exceeded every expectation. People were so happy, and it meant so much. How do you feel today . I feel great. And actually, im so happy to tell the world. Theres no such thing as a little pregnant. Were so happy. Baby coming in late summer. But overall, amazing that the news of the wedding and this news did remain secret in this day in age. I know. Well, that was really important to us. We wanted to have this private moment. We wanted that moment with our close it was a small wedding. Im matt lauer in new york. President obama is about to make a statement from the white house on the crisis in ukraine. Just this morning, the u. S. Announced sanctions against russian officials in the wake of the vote in crimea to secede from ukraine and join russia. We have Kelly Odonnell in the press room. Were the sanctions after the threats of crossing into crimea. Now the vote has taken place, will these threats have any real teeth . Reporter certainly Senior Administration Officials Say they will, by going after the personal assets, wealth and travel ability of several key officials that the american and European Partners believe responsible for this. Senior officials in a tone mocking the calls over the referendum referring to cronies and about allies of the russian government. They are trying to send a signal. They believe the economic sanctions have an impact, but a message of more could come. Matt. You say the economic sanctions will have impact, but do they truly believe they can reverse this vote . Reporter not that, but to try to cause effectively pain, embarrassment and difficulty operating with american entities for the people involved. 11 people named between two executive orders signed by the president they believe were responsible for this. Trying to say to the world this was not a real referendum. Talking in part how the voter turnout was extraordinarily high and results over 96 , with no complaints about any problems with the vote. Again, setting a way to be mocking of the process. Lets listen to the president , kelly. Good morning. As recent months as the citizens of ukraine made their voices heard, we have been guided by a fundamental principle. Future of ukraine must be decided by the people of ukraine. That means ukraines sovereignty and integrity must be protected. Russias decision to send troops in crimea as rightly drawn global condemnation. From the start, the United States has mobilized the International Community in support of ukraine for isolating russia for its actions. We saw this International Unity again over the weekend when russia stood alone in the United Nations defending its actions in crimea. As i told president putin yesterday, the referendum in crimea was a clear violation of ukrainian constitutions and international law. It will not be recognized by the International Community. Today, im announcing a series of measures that will continue to increase the cost on russia and those responsible for what is happening in ukraine. First, as authorized by the executive order i i signed two weeks ago, we have imposing sanctions for the integrity of ukraine. There are consequences to their actions. Second, i have signed a new executive order. As a initial step, im authorizing sanctions on the russian officials in the arms sector of russia and the individuals who provide Material Support to senior officials of the russian government. And if russia continues to interfere in ukraine, we stand ready to impose further sanctions. Third, were continuing our consultations with our European Partners who in brussels moved ahead with sanctions. Tonight, Vice President biden leaves for allies in poland and latvia and lithuania. I will travel next week. Our message is clear. We have a solemn commitment to the defense and we will uphold this commitment. Fourth, we will continue to make clear to russia that further provocation will achieve nothing but to further isolate russia. The International Community will continue to stand together to oppose any violations of ukrainian sovereignty and integrity. And continued Russian Military intervention will only deepen russias deep isolation and exact a greater toll on the russian economy. Going forward, we can calibrate our response based on whether russia chooses to escalator deescalate the situation. Now, i believe there is still a path to resolve this situation diplomatically in a way that addresses the interests of both russia and ukraine. That includes russia pulling forces in crimea back to their bases, supporting the deployment of international monitors in ukraine and engaging dialogue it ukraine with the constitutional reform as they move forward toward elections this spring. But throughout the process, we will stand firm in our unwaivering support for ukraine. As i told the Prime Minister last week. We stand with the people of ukraine and their right to determine their destiny. We will work with congress and International Partners with the economic support that it needs to weather this crisis and improve the daily lives of ukrainian people. An 18yearold father of two says biting off part of his newborns nose could enter a plea in court today. Joshua cooper could be charged with aggravated cruelty. Investigators say he bit off part of his 1monthold sons nose because the baby would not stop crying. The childs mother called 911 right away. Today contributing correspondent Jenna Bush Hager has more on that. Good morning. The Harvard Lampoon comedy magazine has been a breeding ground for the funniest people in show business. When the lampoon announced that two women would be running the show, i had to pay a visit. Submissions. Reporter there must be something in the water here. Harvard lampoon alumni include b. J. Novak, conan obrien and colin jost. The new snl weekend coanchor. And writers for 30 rock and the simpsons started at the lampoon. This is a legendary clubhouse of those very funny people who are very secretive about their activities. In fact, this library is the only room we were allowed to see. Talk to me a little bit about what goes on in here. Am i allowed to know . We do a lot of reading in this room. But thats not exactly true. We quickly discovered fun comes first at the Harvard Lampoon and the truth comes second. For example, all of this happened when we innocently asked to take an average editorial meeting. What we recorded could be called historic. For the First Time Since the lampoon was founded in 1876, the magazine is being run by two women. This is completely unusual. Im on fire. I am on fire right now. Who is also the first africanamerican female ever elected president. Elections were a great rallying point. And shes also a hilarious writer. But they do a lot more than their nails. Alexis and ellie oversee production of the magazine and the parody books. Coming from a single parent, sort of low income background, that was the most important thing to me. If youre poor, you can get a world class education in harvard. Reporter who seemed genuinely proud that the lampoons first female africanamerican president was taking his africanamerican studies class. New president of the lampoon. Which, of course, is this Malaysian Air flight 370. Its been ten days now. And over the weekend, Malaysian Police searched the homes of the captain and copilot, first officer on the flight. I think its fascinating they decided to take a close look at this Flight Simulator in the captains home. Remember when that video first surfaced and they showed the first known photograph of the pilot or the captain and there he is with his huge Flight Simulator. That was pretty amazing. And i remember a quote from an expert who said, hes just a guy who loved his job. That may not be the case. Theyre looking at some of the information from the simulator to find out if he was practicing unusual routes, so on, so forth. Theyre looking at everyone right now. They are. Combing through all 239 people onboard to make sure there wasnt any unusual, you know, make sure they were on any terror watch list. Reality is, yes, theyre searching everyone onboard, but all eyes are on the pilot and the people who would have access to the cockpit there. Whats also intriguing, to your point, al, i feel terrible saying this, but its like the movie lost or tv show, because youre talking about real lives and people who have disappeared. But theres no other explanation. And the interesting thing, the pilot and copilot didnt request to be flying together. Together. That was allegedly just happenstance they were flying together. So you have to wonder if theres so coercion. Obviously, investigators say this appears to be a case of criminal intention here. They heard the last words on that flight, good night, they believe from the copilot. And this was after they had already lost communications or lost radar problems. But they also believe the flight may have been on the ground. It may not have been actually been in the air when they good nighted the air traffic control. Bottom line is, we know less today than we did the first day of this. I flew to africa 20 hours one way, 20 hours back. Who knew there are spaces that you will literally vanish. You can vanish and not be found. Its crazy. Two tracks theyre looking at if it flew north and it would have flown over lots of land masses into countries like kazakhstan and places and china. Places. Where, you think of an aircraft, a 777 has the wingspan 2 3 the size of a football field. Yeah, a 777 passes low, youre going to see it. Somebody would notice. And then if if its flown south, youve got, of course, huge indian ocean. 28 million square i think 28 million square miles of mass they have to look over. You wonder, will this Going Forward, assuming we find out what happened, does this change procedures Going Forward . It would have to, dont you think . The ability to not turn off transponders. I think everybodys learning from this, sadly, this tragic example. And theyre going to be taking a look at all data and all operations on board the plane. Ten days and counting. Police found 24yearold todd that were in john morgan park with serious injuries and they took him to the hospital. While they were investigating, they learned a 16yearold san jose resident had been stabbed and take on the the resident as well, but was pronounced dead just before 3 00 this morning. Investigators determined he stabbed the teen and was taken into custody. Police looking for a driver who not only hit a pedestrian but dragged him across the roadway. They found him near sixth street about three miles from the concord bart station. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. An overnight fire in san jose was sparked by a marijuana grow operation. That fire was reported just after 10 30 last night on lanier lane. Up to 70 plants were found in the garage. Everyone got out of home safely. Well have a look at weather and traffic after this break. Savannah, one of her very best friends got up and spoke and said i never feel more confident than right when i hang up the phone with savannah. And i called up my best friend and i said, you know, i never feel as confident when i hang up the phone with you. It was such a beautiful wedding. Were so, so happy for her. Im so thrilled. You know, i was in russia with savannah for two weeks and we spent every morning on those long walks, literally, eight hours of walking and talking. And there was one conversation that we had all about babies. She lives in my neighborhood, she said what is it like raising a baby in new york city, can you do it with work and we talked nonstop and i thought, like, there is something here, plus the saltines, and the best fake drinker. Everybody that has been pregnant knows you have to pretend like the drink she would never drink it, but have a glass of wine there. But it is so she is one of the most kind people ive ever met and i know shes going to be a terrific mom. Just thrilled all around. So excited. Lets get to some other breaking news. Chris brown is in jail. Had another bad weekend. He was in rehab and apparently he was discharged for something called failure to comply with the rules and regulations of the program. Now, because the judge said he had to be in rehab and he was leaving, they issued an arrest warrant for him. And hes in jail without bail. Are you over im a little over it. I feel like every i hate this. But i feel like we have reported these types of stories about him all the time. Over and over and over and it is really sad, but, i mean, i just dont want young men watching and thinking this is the type of role model they should live up to. He was arrested. They said he was taken directly to jail from the Treatment Center in malibu. He was on some anger management deal. That was what the beginning was. Anywho, lets move on. Were over chris brown. All right. Does chris brown hold grudges . No. Do you . Do you hold a grudge . Thats an important question. Lets pretend a friend of yours did something terrible, dated your boyfriend, something. I remember. You remember how huge i was. You were huge. And beautiful. Go on. Im surfing the subway and i really was starting to feel like im going to fall. This woman said, do you want to offer her your seat. He said no. He said, no, i dont want to offer the seat. And the whole subway was, like, then i felt embarrassed for him. I was, like, turning red and somebody else, this older woman said i want to offer you the seat. And i always think about that guy. Were you mad . No, i see somebody on the subway and im like, here, you, but i did hold a grudge. I felt embarrassed for him too. What was he thinking not standing up . I dont know. I dont know. Forever he will be the man who didnt stand up on the subway. I had that with a guy trying to merge into traffic. It was dead stopped. I said im sorry, i didnt get over in the lane, it wasnt like i was trying to be a sneaky person. I didnt know it was my exit and the guy unrolled his window and flipped me off. And he will forever be known i was inching in, i was inching in, like you know you start remember fried green tomatoes where she just rams the car. Dont you want to do that . I had that vision, when someone is really rude and i see them walking in front of me, i have a weird vision of pushing them in the middle of their back until they fall down. Like i thought that. Ive never done it. Im never going to be by the way, i will never say anything rude to you again. So, here is a good question. Police found 24yearold todd that were with serious injuries. They took him to the hospital. While they were there, they learned a 16yearold san jose resident had been stabbed and was taken to the hospital as well, but was pronounced dead just before 3 00 this morning. Investigators determined he stabbed the teenager and he, in fact, was taken into custody. Investigators say an overnight fire in san jose was sparked by a marijuana grow operation. The fire reported just after 10 30 last night on lanier lane. Up to 70 plants were found in the garage. Everyone got out of that home safely. We found a lot of young families, people in their 30s and 40s, who maybe lost their job, lost a business, during the recession, 2008, around in there, a lot of people lost their work. Why did you decide it was a good idea to live in such a tiny spot . Well, for us, it was a matter of what we can afford, we lost our business in 2008, and lost our home as well. So we started off from square one and decided were never going to use debt again, no credit. So we saved and bought our land and then we needed to buy a house. And we built it small, thats what we could afford. You actually built this home were seeing now. Is that empowering in many ways . It was empowering and it was a bit scary at times because i figured how am i going to take all my things and put it in this little space and my family as well. But we we made the most of it and, you know, were very thankful. I read an article one time about angelina and brad when they were together and how they couldnt find each other in their home, they actually had walkietalkies and i read a quote i always loved, it said love grows best in small places. Do you find your family unit got tighter, more cohesive since you live in your house here . Literally, yes. Definitely. Youre in space with each other. We work through the issues. You have two kids under 10. How has it brought your family closer to focus on each other and not material things . Well, you cant bring a whole lot into the house, first of all, and so what we do have in the house is some stuff we love. We just cut away the excess and it helped us focus on what brings us joy s. What about privacy . Thats something every grownup needs and every kid needs. Teenagers pretty soon. What are you going to do then . Were building a bigger house. Were building a 1400 square foot twostory home, i am, and were doing it board by board, dollar by dollar. Were not using any bank loans or anything like that. And theyll have their own bedrooms and their own bathroom. Are they excited . They are. They go up in the space now and look out the windows at the trees and they have the paint colors picked out and they know what they want. Overall, though, do you feel like youre happier . Absolutely.
