Rescuers tell me they were busy helping other prospective adopters when a woman took off with little iris. A deadly crash in the east bay, and it brought traffic to a crawl for hours. It happened just before noon on the northbound 680 when a porsche and jeep collided near treat boulevard exit. Chp says the 63yearold driver of the porsche died. Two passengers in the jeep suffered minor injuries. The crash left debris scattered across multiple lanes. The porsche was going the opposite way of traffic, and the black truck was going the right way of traffic. I dont know what how that car spined around or what was the cause of the accident. It was just a big crash. Chp also trying to figure out exactly what happened, but says it does not appear that alcohol was a factor. And that is part of the downside of many holiday weekends, the Alarming Number of deadly accidents and duis. The chp says so far at least 21 people have been killed in car crashes statewide over this weekend. At least half of those people were not wearing seat belts. The chief reversed course a bit on friday admitting that his officers may have violated the states shield law that protects journalists and their sources. Since then the Police Commission and Officers Union have weighed in as well. Police chief bill scott says it will be the Citys Department of Police Accountability that will conduct the investigation. There were issues in this investigation. Those issues have to be addressed. Reporter police were looking for evidence of who leaked a Police Report on the death of public defend jeff adachi. California law protects journalists from search warrants that are armd imed at revealing sources and the outcry has pushed the mayor to call for this investigation. The head of the police union is calling for chief scott to resign. Initially, chief scott said that the raid on the journalists home was legal, but this past friday he apologized and said mistakes were made. Today the mayor was asked if she still ha faid faith in him. Police say it started with a robbery at the gas station in mora ga last night. Police in lafayette spotted the suspicious car and chased it along highway 24, then highway 4. The teens then crashed into another car while exiting highway 4 in antioch. One person was hurt in the crash. Police say they found guns and money in the teens car. Thats an improvement by almost as much as ten degrees from yesterdays highs but still looking at ten degrees below average for this time of the year. In san jose, more clouds. In fact, well see these low clouds thicken up overnight. Might see misty skies tomorrow morning. Right now 65 degrees. In terms of the showers, whats left of some showers here off to the eastern side of lake county, theres a chance some of this may try to drift towards Solano County as the futurecast points out. You can see a few of those stray showers in the north bay, weakening as they pass south. Notice how these low clouds fill in around the south bay. Might see a little bit of mist early in the day through about 7 00. As we head through the afternoon, unlike today the low clouds in the south bay start to clear out. As High Pressure starts to strengthen, this is going to lead to the big warmup youre seeing there. You see some of those sevenday forecasts there, upper 80s, maybe seven days from now. Morning temperatures, 40s and 50s. Highs tomorrow begin to jump back into the 70s. Mid70s around san jose, should see upper 70s south of downtown, tri valley up towards concord. Theyll have numbers in the upper 70s, close to 70 in hayward tomorrow. Peninsula, temperatures not changing a whole lot, mid to upper 60s around san mateo. San francisco eventually will get closer to 70 degrees but not the case at least tomorrow with mid60s and north bay temperatures close to 78 in santa rosa, 80s around ukiah. We have an interesting twist of a forecast, temperatures are warming up, but notice across some of the mountain ranges thursday and again friday were going to see the chance of these afternoon showers firing up, and in fact, the futurecast does show north bay hills, Santa Cruz Mountains near mount hamilton. We might see an isolated shower or two late in the week. Thats going to be thursday afternoon and friday afternoon. Good news for the weekend. Well see a little less of that come sunday and monday as High Pressure builds in. Temperatures are making that climb, and youre seeing a good preview of that on the bottom of the screen.
