In scenes that have become all too familiar in france, antiterror raids are under way this evening in the wake of an attack at the most famous art museum in the world. That sent panicked tourists, including Many Americans running for cover. Police say a machetewielding man was gunned down at the entrance to the louvre in paris after he began attacking police officers. France has suffered a series of terror attacks that have killed over 200 people in the last two years. And at this hour, the hunt is on for possible accomplices in this latest violent act. Nbcs matt bradley is there and has the latest. Tonight, French Police raiding locations around paris. An Ongoing Investigation after a terror attack at perhaps the worlds most famous museum. It was around 10 00 a. M. Inside the louvre. Police say this 29yearold egyptian suspect attacked four soldiers with a machete in each hand shouting god is great in arabic. Translator there were shots, this witness said, it was scary. I saw people falling. Soldiers shot the attacker four times. He lived. A soldier suffered minimal injuries. 1200 people were inside the museum, some huddled on the floor, others evacuated to special safe rooms. Police say the suspect arrived from dubai last week on a tourist visa. In the end this might have been a minor incident, but the response goes to show that after 15 months under a state of emergency and multiple terror attacks, this remains a city on edge. Cassandra bolt and tailor wolstrum are students at the university of georgia. They were looking for the mona lisa when guards told them to take cover. That was scary. They made us take our, unzip our jacket and open our purses and be like that and i was like oh no. All of them fully armed. France was already on high alert after deadly attacks on the bataclan in 2015 and in nice last summer. French police say the suspect who is still in the hospital bought his machetes here in paris two days after he arrived from dubai. Now authorities are trying to determine if he acted alone. Lester . As mr. Trump signed two executive actions today. Including one that scraps a rule requiring Financial Advisers to act in their clients best interests. The first step as the president aims to unravel doddfrank, an obamaera law put in place to protect consumers. The president says the law is overly burdensome. We expect to be cutting a lot out of doddfrank, because frankly i have so many people, friends of mine, that have nice businesses, they cant borrow money. Democrats called the move a gift to the president s rich friends after he vowed to help workingclass voters. Critics of doddfrank say its onerous, proponents say if you take it away, banks and Financial Institutions will do the same things that got us into the financial crisis in the first place. It all caps a tumultuous two weeks at the white house where the president s roiled allies and moved forward with a number of controversial policies from a border wall to unraveling obamacare. Trump voters split, particularly over the travel ban. I think its a horrible execution. People with green cards, visas, people who are legal immigrants, should be allowed to travel back and forth. I think hes done amazingly well. Done what he said hes going to do. As for that travel ban, the state Department Says 60,000 visas for citizens from the seven targeted countries have been revoked blocking those travelers from coming to the u. S. The new jobs report is out, a healthy 227,000 jobs were created in january. The Unemployment Rate ticked up to 4. 8 . Actually a sign more people reentered the workforce. At mitchell gold and bob williams furniture, 1,000 workers have had their personal information compromised after several employees received an email that appeared to come from the ceo. It was an email that looked like it was from me and sounded like it was from me, but it wasnt from me. The email tricked employees into giving away Company Payroll information. Just two weeks later, several workers say criminals have already used their stolen information to file for an irs refund. Its really a violation of peoples privacy. Its nervewracking to know that you might be at risk on your credit scores. Heres how the scam works the criminals send emails posing as a company executive. Often using a very familiar tone, like hi, are you around today . Once the employee responds, the scammer asks to verify personnel names and Social Security numbers. Even w2 forms for all employees. Thinking the request is from the real boss, employees gladly hand over the information. Cybercriminals are going to follow the money. And right now, theres a huge trove of money available to them in filing false tax returns. To fight fraud, experts advise companies to issue w2s as early as possible. Employees should file their taxes early. Before a scammer can. And be suspicious of any email asking for financial information. Even from the boss.
