Reporter the suspect is described as a man in his 40s. Police also say that his exwife had a restraining order against him for Domestic Violence reasons for prior incidents. Thats why she immediately called police when he pulled up to where she worked around 2 20 this afternoon. He wanted to talk. She didnt. Thats when police he went to the truck and grabbed a gun and started chasing her through the parking lot. Dispatchers say they heard a gunshot while they were on the phone with the woman. Officers managed to confront the man. There was an exchange of gun fire, one f our officers fired one round and we believe he discharged a round at himself into his face. Reporter the coroner must now determine if the officers bullet actually hit the suspect who died at the scene. He is not being identified. We have multiple reports for you tonight. Lets start with chief meteorologist jeff ranieri. After a half inch to an inch of rainfall this morning, a little bit of a break in the weather. We quantiwant to bring you into stuff happening today. Two different funnel clouds were spotted. I backed this up to when the storms were hitting. And was can see from modesto down three different rotating thunderstorms, out of that two different funnel clouds were spotted. We have the video of one of them that was captured. Theres the funnel cloud in the center as the clouds start to get closer to the ground from the rotating thunderstorms. Now the funnel never touched a ground, it never became a tornado. Also no damage or injuries that we know of from the ther thunderstorm. It is a rare occurrence, three to six happening in california throughout the year. Now lets go from the Stormy Weather earlier today around 12 30 to whats happening now on the Doppler Radar. What youll see here is only a few spotty showers up in the north bay and developing wet weather just offshore right now. Eventually could move into the peninsula over the next hour or so but we really look for things to pick up once we hit 9 30 through 11 30 tonight up into marin, napa and sonoma counties. Ill have a full update at 6 20 tonight. Still dangerous, still a mess and it still smells bad. San joses flood zone is a work in progress one month after the devastating floods hit. And with people still angry about how little warning they got ahead of the disaster, city leaders are talking about how to get the word out better the next time. The city says it will do a better job of, among other things, monitoring the water level of coyote creek and om ma den reservoir. Say theyll do a better job of getting the word out. San jose is still cleaning its flood ravaged neighborhoods one month later. This resident showed us his entire downstairs still unlivable and the city admits it did not give people enough time to get out. The Warning System that we had in place at the time of the floods was wholly inadequate. The san jose mayor san liccardo and the city are rolling out a Warning System for the area. The socalled threat matrix calls for flyers and messaging with color coded timetables. A yellow alert will be issued 48 to 72 hours in advance of possible flooding. An orange alert issued 12 to 24 hours in advance. And a red alert issued four to six hours before a possible flood. That includes Electronic Communications throughout the media. But i think most importantly the low tech solutions, knocking on doors in communities, particularly in low income communities that lack access to internet. The city admits that the warning plan is an early draft. Hypothetically this is a great system. Residents we spoke to are still not ready to trust the city. Its irrelevant to a city who lives in this neighborhood right now. I could care less about that. What i want to know is what are they going to do to prevent it next time. She used fedex ground shipping and paid extra to insure the package for 1,000. Two weeks later it arrived split open. There it is right there. Mary immediately called fedex and the company told her to take the box to a claims office 35 miles away. So she did. She said the workers there took pictures of it anfiled a claim on her behalf. But a few weeks later marys claim was denied. She appealed but that was decide too so she asked us to help. We contacted fedex and learned that the box that mary shipped has had been shipped from a fedex center inside of an office depot collection. The claim should have been filed through office depot. Mary says no one told her that. But we got the claims process squared away for her and mary received a check for 1053, the insured amount plus shipping. Then still possibly or stronger system friday into saturday morning. You can see theres not a whole lot, a spotty showers in the north bay and a little activity developing offshore. That likely could reach the north bay as we head throughout the next hour. Now in terms of when things pick up, i really think by 9 30 tonight, thats when near the coastline well begin to see some heavier pockets beginning to reemerge. And this will push into the north bay at 11 30 and eventually tomorrow morning, the line of rain here for Santa Cruz Mountains, east bay and south bay. Theyre trying to pin the heaviest rainfall in the southern portion of the viewing area so the north bay may not get as much tomorrow morning. By 8 00 in the morning, i still think well have the wet weather across the bay area. Thats why on the forecast tomorrow, were going to keep rainfall for everybody, 55 peninsula, and the south bay at 54. Well begin on the mild side from the north bay down toward San Francisco. Well show you how wednesday plays out. Its not going to be wet all day long. Well hold on to lingering rainfall until 8 00 in the morning. Then the storm system really try to push out of here once we hit 3 00 in the afternoon. You can see the sunshine we do expect to build on in. So i think wednesday afternoon well get that sunshine coming on back into the forecast. Lets go ahead and take a look at our microclimates tomorrow. It will be a comfortable day temperature wise, 62 in san jose, still a little breezy though as the storm system rolls in. Winds out of the northwest at 14 miles an hour. For the east bay, concord 63, danville a cooler 60. Near the peninsula well come in at 60, 57 in Half Moon Bay and 59 in belmont. San francisco you need a jacket, wind kicks up, making this 58 along the embarcadero feel like the mid 50s and the best chance of rain in the morning and then a few sun breaks for the afternoon. For mill valley, 59, santa rosa 6 is, napa a little milder here and 64 degrees. The extended forecast does have dry weather in the mix for thursday. A nice window of sunshine coming our way as we head towards the end of the workweek. And bam, right here as we hit fridays forecast, that storm system looks to line up. The new things im seeing right now on the forecast models as we break them apart is everybody single one of them tries to move this storm in and out faster. So ive lowered the estimated rain totals. Were looking at a half inch to one and a half inch potential. One and a half inch up for the north bay and a half inch for all of the lower elevations.
