Now, the california delegation of the Republican National convention is housed in the hotel 60 miles away, the farthest of any state. But is it a reflection of the states role at the convention . Maybe not. Nbc bay areas political analyst Larry Gerston joins us now. Its all about location, location. But in this case it may not be a bad thing. Ill tell you why, jessica. Its compensation for the state delegation being so far away, the california delegates have prime seating in the convention. You know, typically these seats go to the most republican states, and thats hardly the case with california. But california has the largest delegation. Unlike most other states, most of the delegates here were hand selected by the trump people. Well, that guarantees enthusiasm and enthusiasm where its needed the most, right up front. For a lot of people to see it, especially on tv. We know the nominee, we know the running mate, theres a platform. A lot of people dont talk about what happens with a platform. Is it more than a fourday pep rally were going to be seeing . In a manner of speaking it really is. That doesnt diminish the need and ill tell you why. For trump to win the president ial election, hes got to have foot soldiers. Foot soldiers making his case. And thats the 5,000 or so delegates and alternates who must be motivated to take trumps case back to their home states and by the conventions end, most will. Lets talk about those california delegation. They are going to be very motivated. Well see a lot of enthusiasm. But whats that going to translate when they come back to california . Can they even turn around such a Democratic State like california . You know, probably not. Although this year is anything but predictable, we know that much already. But among the 5,000 or so delegates, 350 of them from california and alternates of course are some very big hitters financially speaking. More than their votes. Trump needs their money. Their money to be spent in other states where it can do some good. With a successful convention hell have a new contributor base in california, one different from the ones weve seen in the past because quite frankly trump has a different set of followers. And its been a different kind of campaign as well. Thank you, larry. A woman who was egged at a san jose trump rally is sitting with the california delegation tonight. So we take care of the college them, feeding them. Reporter after a year of pampering. Turtle season is over here. Reporter these turtles are now heading home. The western pond turtle is a species that is in pretty steep decline. Reporter newly born turtles are a meal for just about every creditor in the wild, so for the last eight years the oakland and San Francisco zoos along with sonoma state have teamed up to give these endangered turtles a first year of sanctuary. The process is called head starting, and we are giving them a literal headstart in life. Were going to take the turtles that we have raised at oakland zoo and San Francisco zoo and rerelease them. Humidity is beginning to increase at 68 as we do have the marine layer and the fog still offshore right now. That is poised to make a return tomorrow morning. As we get a look across the rest of the Sky Camera Network, we currently have beautiful conditions in the south bay and 71 degrees. The east bay also in the low 70s and for San Francisco that cooler 65 with the ocean breeze in place. The north bay coming in with a sunny 75 still at this hour. So for tomorrow morning we get the fog coming on back to San Francisco. Areas of drizzle. Also low clouds for the north bay and 50. Areas of gray skies for the east bay and 54 to start. And for the peninsula, possibly a little bit of drizzle of the for the south bay it will be partly sunny, but again dont expect full sunshine as well still have low clouds lingering there as well. I want to go ahead and take you to the outlook on how thick this fog is at the immediate coastline. Despite some of the sunny sky cameras we just showed you, you can see how the marine layer is stacking up at the immediate coast and thats going to continue to keep temperatures down for tomorrow. But theres a second thing that will help to continue the trend of below average temperatures as we head throughout the next two days and that is something weve seen a little bit off and on so far this summer, this trough of low pressure is really whats helping to bring down the unusually cool air and take our typical hot High Pressure and push it off to the south. So this is the main reason why youll see in that scrolling sevenday ticker at the bottom of the screen the next two days look great. We want to give you more details on that for tomorrow. One of our typical hot spots is concord out in the east bay, but for tomorrow not hot at all. By 1 00, 76 degrees. And for our max temperature at 3 00 p. M. , 79 degrees. Thats it. So thats how comfortable its going to be. Might even not need the ac tomorrow out there throughout parts of contra costa an alameda county. As we take you through your microclimate forecast on tuesday, youll see a Beautiful Day in san jose and 78 degrees. You go just a little bit away from that bay breeze down into morgan hill and gilroy, temperatures will be hotter with an anticipated 82 degrees. For the peninsula, palo alto 74, and then the beaches, downright chilly at 60. For San Francisco, 59. And then over toward the financial district, a little bit warmer and 65. For the north bay, east bay and also the trivalley, best weather no doubt right up into marin, napa and sonoma counties. Mill virginia 75, napa 78. For the trivalley as we mentioned, no 90s, no 100s tomorrow. Well have 78 in pleasanton, 81 expected in danville. Lets go ahead and get you to our extended forecast full screen. You can see for San Francisco we stay with these 60s all the way through thursday. By friday, saturday and sunday well begin to introduce some low to mid70s in the forecast, not too hot, not too uncomfortable for San Francisco, but it is going to likely get uncomfortable for you here for the interior valleys.
