This happened while the family was on vacation in palm springs. Reporter thats right and it all happened on easter sunday. Jim trammell was electrocuted sunday when he dove into the Swimming Pool to try to save his daughter. And tonight his 9yearold daughter is hospitalized in Critical Condition. Police say 43yearold James Trammell of burr ling game was at a Family Gathering at a home in palm springs sunday when he noticed his 9yearold daughter was getting shocked while swimming in a pool. Witnesses say his daughter was turning blue. Thats when trammell jumped in to save her and was electrocuted. He died a short time later at desert Regional Medical center. When we found out it was an electrocution in a pool, we were stunned. And very, very sad. And when we heard there were young people involved, its just very unusual to hear this kind of news. Police say his daughter remains in Critical Condition at Loma Linda University medical center. Authorities are still trying to figure out how this happened. Investigators suspect faulty pool wiring sent electricity surging through the water. Its now in the hands of the jury. The fate of a former stanford swimmer accused of rape. Prosecutors wrapping up closing arguments this morning. They said the victim did not want to have sex with brock turner after a Fraternity Party on campus. Turner, though, took the stand last week and testified that the woman eagerly engaged in sex after dancing with him at that party. He could face ten years in prison. Turner dropped out of stanford after these accusations. New developments tonight of a beating of a bay area man by Alameda County Sheriff Deputies that. Beating captured on surveillance camera. Now were learning the deputies slinging those batons may not be the only ones facing potential punishment. Reporter attorneys for 29yearold Stanislav Petrov called the videotaped beating of two Alameda County sheriffs deputies indefensible. Surveillance video captured two officers striking the suspected car thief repeatedly with their batons last november after a highspeed chase from the east bay to San Francisco. This is outrageous. He wishes it never happened. Reporter today petrovs attorneys filed a claim against the Alameda County Sheriffs Department. They say the deputies use of force was excessive and unjustified. They say the deputies gave a necklace to witnesses of the beating. We believe they were trying to bribe the victims into silence. Today sheriff Gregory Ahearn promised a thorough investigation. He says his departments taking steps to ensure it never happens again. He says every deputy on the scene will have to justify their conduct as well. Everyone involved are responsible for every word of the report and every action they took at that scene. If i find it outside of policy theyre going to be disciplined. Reporter now, i talked to the attorney of one of the deputies involved in the beating. He says that his client is a Field Training officer with an impeccable record and insists that the deputies feared the man might have a gun. The flight was heading from alexandria to cairo, on the way police say an egyptian man claiming to have an explosive belt demanded the plane land near cypress so he could see his exwife. After hours of negotiations, the man did free all the hostages which included some americans on board. The man eventually surrendered. The belt, it turned out to be fake. Investigators now say the man is unstable and theyre not considering it an act of terrorism. Honoring the First Responders. A special tribute today to the people who rushed to the rescue when that ace commuter train jumped the tracks. The train derailed yu migou mig recall in niles canyon. Today the county brd of supervisors applauded the First Responders who jumped into the sliding mud to rescue those trapped. There wasnt good access to the train. We were driven to an access point and we had to hike in about half a mile up the Railroad Tracks to the incident and work our way to the front of the train. One car actually ended up submerged in the water. Amazingly, no one died when that train derailed. Passengers after they escaped the train had to then trudge about two miles to a waiting area.
