Its a family oriented community, and there is no place for an individual such as himself to be here in dixon. And we will do everything within our Legal Authority to make sure that he doesnt stay here. Reporter the owners of the dixon hotel evicted smith on wednesday when they realized he was there. He was registered under another name, the name of the Liberty Health care chaperone monitoring him. This motel he stayed one night is next door to a large apartment complex with children, who are out and about playing. We dont want him. I definitely want him to leave. Reporter people in dixon are scared and angry, but smiths attorney calls the reaction unwarranted hysteria. Its like a witch hunt. Reporter he said smith is being monitored around the clock by g. P. S. And a chaperone. But thats not good enough. Stlz is virtually no place in dixon he could reside, nor would we want him here. Reporter i talked to somebody from Liberty Health care. The contractor in charge of monitoring smith. He assured me that they have notified every motel they have been in that Frazier Smith is there. It is unclear tonight exactly where smith is. The mayor and the Police Department believe he may have moved to another city. Smiths attorney tells me he is in excellent spirits despite the evictions. He left the State Hospital back on november 18th, then went to stay at a motel 6 in vallejo but was evicted the next day. His attorney said his client was forced to live in cars until he showed up in dixon on tuesday but he was kicked out the next day. It is unclear, as you heard jodi say, where he is now and where hell be heading next. Tonight, there is a freeze warning for most of the bay area. That means more of what we saw last night. It means that were looking at a few hours from about 26 to 32 degrees and some of the coldest wind sheltered valleys overnights. So if you have evening plans, 40s and 50s through 7 00. Then 11 00 and midnight, mid 30s before midnight tonight. Tomorrow morning, most locations in the 30s, but morgan hill and napa, we have a chance of getting into the upper 20s. So this is the reason why were locked into this unusually cold pattern. When will it warm up . We have the answer in the extended forecast coming up in just a few minutes. The i know you spoke to the man who found that body. Reporter he told me he was shocked what he found this morning here. The last Police Officer left the scene about 20 minutes ago. Detectives will look through the night to solve this case. This man found the body this morning along the banks of the creek. Police say the body was lying in thick brush. I was down here and i was just walking by with the dog and seen a body there. Reporter the man would only give her first name of joseph. The victim did not appear to be homeless. Sources say the victim was likely killed somewhere else and the killer dumped his body here. I would appear that the body was dumped. Reporter police will likely look at surveillance videos from homes around the crime scene trying to figure out who may have dumped the body. That is scary. Usually like some Homeless People they stay over here. Thats scary. My house is across the street from the creek. Reporter investigators took joseph downtown as a witness to gather more information on who the possible killer might be. Reporter i spoke to him and he said hes not blaming this case on berkeley fire, but one thing is for sure, his restaurant, mandarin garden, is a complete loss. Less than 24 hours ago, his now boarded up business was open for thanksgiving last night, while he was cleaning up around 12 00 a. M. , he noticed smoke in the kitchen. I call right away 911. Just in, we learned that a third person has died. We dont know if that is another Police Officer. Five Police Officers were injured in the shootout. 11 people in total injured. Police found norly 30 of these menacing looking bats across the city of San Francisco. One thing is for sure, officers are not laughing as they try to figure out exactly what these bats are for. But it turns out this wasnt the only altered bat. In about a 24hour period from thursday morning to friday, about 27 bats have been recovered. It was caught off guard, just as many homeowners were surprised by this dip in temperature. This Hardware Store ran out of burlap and was down to its last bundle of firewood before a supply truck arrived today. Frost shields and blankets for landscape yards are going fast. If you just planted something during the summer, theyre more susceptible to the cold. Reporter theres also help for the homeless. 13 Warming Centers opened monday at libraries and Community Centers around the county. Theyll provide a warm, overnight space. This aint no kplace to have kids out. Reporter a third center opens next week at the former air force station. All are appealing for the publics generosity. We could use more blankets, towels, rain ponchos or gloves. Reporter there are more than 6,000 homeless in Santa Clara County. But fewer than 1,000 beds available any given night. We had a breeze picking up around San Francisco, which kept temperaturing up. Right now downtown not too bad, 53 degrees. Notice our temperatures south of downtown. San jose down into here, 43 degrees in los altos. Down towards stanford, 41 degrees. 49 in san mateo. In the north bay, 52 in santa rosa. And kind of interesting, we still have those winds in the hills of the north bay and it was the wind speeds that helped prevent widespread freezing. Mixing the warmer air down towards the surface, unlike the cold air, which tends to pool in the valleys as the air settles. So wind sheltered locations. Thats the reason we have that freeze warning up through about 9 00 tomorrow morning, where temperatures, as we wake up, could be in the upper 20s. Some of the north bay valleys. So highs tomorrow, staying cool. Well have the sunshine, but only in the mid 50s for most of the bay area. You see the tri valley, temperatures in the 50s and this pattern repeats again tomorrow night. Freezing temperatures once again. So for our outdoor event through tomorrow afternoon, stanford hosting notre dame around daytime. Still in the 50s. That game dropping through the mid 40s. For cal hosting arizona state, game right at 7 00 tomorrow evening, mid 40s in the forecast. So the cold temperatures continue with this particular pattern in place. Its finally going to break down towards the beginning of next week, which will set the stage for some muchneeded rain. Office while and now breaking news as we update you on the gunman that was inside a Colorado Planned Parenthood office, while other people were trapped inside. What we are learning now about how the whole situation unfolded and how police finally captured him. But first, an update now on the death toll from todays shooting in just the past 15 minutes. Authorities confirmed that a third victim has died as a result of the gun battle. Two of the dead are civilians. One is a Police Officer from the university of colorado at Colorado Springs. The shooter also hurt nine other people. Five of those nine are officers. All are hospitalized right now with gun shot wounds and said to be in good condition. The standoff began about 11 30 local colorado time and didnt end until after 4 00 p. M. Teams of police exchanged gunfire with the gunman during much of that time. They were finally safely able to enter the building and negotiate with the gunman. Earlier there was no communication with the suspect. We did get officers inside of the building at the planned parenthood. And the officers were able to shout to the suspect and make communication with him. And at that point, they were able to get him to surrender. And he was taken into custody. Right now police have not released the gunmans identity. But he is in custody. There is concern about what is in the bags he carried into the clinic. Police are working to make sure they are not dangerous. At this time, theres no known motive for the shooting. But planned parenthood clinics across the country have often been the target of violence in the past. A twomonth crime spree in the south bay appears to be over. Police arrested two serial burglar suspects last week. Police say the two are suspects in the burglaries of more than 11 victims in West Campbell over the past two months. Police found stolen property with drugs, ammunition and illegal weapons when they searched the home. A man is dead after his car crashed and burst into flames. It happened around 3 00 this morning on 680. Investigators say the driver was speeding when he lost control and went down an embankment and hit a tree. Police pronounced the driver dead on the scene. Combatting counterfeits. A warning about the flee market fakes. Immigrations and Customs Enforcement agents showed off half of this haul of goods they seized. You see everything from hats to purses to sportswear. While you might be saving money buying the fakes, counterfeit products can hurt you. This is a good area to avoid. Setting the table for Syrian Refugees, oakland as pitcher Shawn Doolittle hosted 17 families from the war torn camera for thanksgiving dinner. Doolittle and his girlfriend, erin, held that event in chicago. She says they wanted to welcome the refugees to their new home. Hes hoping fans will be just as welcoming to other refugees. They are supporting a go fund me campaign to sponsor Refugee Families that arrived in chicago. So far theyve raised 25,000. Hes hard to miss. He was on highway 12 around 9 00 in the morning, sunning on the side of the road. Officers got there, the hog was just on the shoulder of the highway sleeping in the sun. Obviously, thats dangerous for the hog. If you know who the hog belongs to, call the animal sheriff in Sonoma County and theyll hook you up. You have to admire that about pigs. If youre lost, just lay down and take a nap. Its still cold out. Temperatures starting to drop into the 30s in parts of the south bay. We give them saw, they go up and find the perfect tree and cut it down. Reporter for 46 years, jim beck has run this Christmas Tree farm. Trees we grow here are almost e exclusively indigenous to this area. Reporter from the trees to the cider to the trimmings. We make wreaths here, living in the city with asphalt everywhere wasnt very comfortable for me. Reporter but like any california farmer, becks crop has been hit hard by the drought. These needles should be about an inch and a quarter to inch and a half long. As you can see, theyre barely 3 4 of an inch long. Reporter some of the trees are struggling. See how its sunburned here . Some of the needles just gave up. It just succumbed to the drought. Reporter consider it takes a six foot tree about seven years to mature. If its only growing at half the rate, its going to take a lot longer. So theres a serious financial impact. Reporter even attempts to plant new trees came up dry this year. I think 99 of everything we planted last year died because we cant get water to it. Reporter trees that dont pass inspection that will get cut out. And towards San Francisco, closer to downtown, 50 degrees. But some of the hill top areas, south of downtown San Francisco and to the north bay, still seeing some wind at this hour. This was a big issue this morning, which really prevented the freezing temperatures from being too widespread as that wind helped mix more mild air down to the surface. Overall, expecting less wind overnight, so the locations around the north bay, tri valley and south bay tomorrow will get down close to freezing once again. The coldest temperatures there. San jose, downtown close to 32. By the afternoon, let the cool sunshine, highs in the mid 50s. Tomorrow 56 in san jose. Upper 50s closer to San Francisco. North bay, in the 20s. Up to about 59 in santa rosa. So the pattern changed to get us out of this cold weather is probably going to hold on till about monday. Well have a stronger jet stream working across the pacific, bringing in more clouds, changing the wind pattern. So once we get to monday and tuesday, notice the temperatures climbing on up. San francisco, san jose, livermore will get back to average temperatures, which for this time of year should be in the low to mid 60s. Not the mid 50s from now to monday. With the warming temperatures, we will see an increasing chance of rain coming back in. The monday system we were tracking earlier, just mainly looks like clouds going on by. Best chance for substantial rain right there. Thursday morning into thursday afternoon, as the system goes on by, bringing snow to see yara. The highest totals here, bay area locations picking up probably about a half inch or less. As this gets closer to happening towards the middle part of next week, well see if the higher rain totals can drop south. Monday into tuesday of next week, you see the numbers back into 260s. Thursday looks to be the wettest day of the next seven to eight days or so. The numbers climbing up as we pass the weekend. So cold temperatures, freeze warnings likely again for tomorrow night.
