Growth, tonight the city council, the town council is meeting to figure out what to do with more than 40 acres of undeveloped land. Now the parcel of land is the last of its kipd. Protesters are already out there. You can see the Council Members are holding shirts and Holding Signs that say town not city. Theyre concerned about traffic and school overcrowding. The plan would allow up to 364 homes to be built on this property. Along with 580,000 square feet of commercial retail space. Slightly less than santana row. We have a wonderful downtown with 250,000 square feet of beautiful shops. Were going to add double that to santana road type complex . The Union School District predicts the development could add another 180 new students. That means overcrowded classrooms for her three kids. Im concerned when i look at a middle school that already has i think over 1200 kids, maybe 1300 kids, where are these kids going to go . There has to be some sort of a plan. Shes also worried the development will increase the troubling traffic in the area. But a developer for this land says the north 40 plan will improve the area by serving seniors and young adults. We think that theres a need for Affordable Housing in the area. We understand that there needs to be some mitigations related to schools and traffic and downtown and we think the towns specific plan is balance the those needs.
