Some might say youre doing this because youve been attacked by the press and worried about your political future. You know, putting a sales tax on the ballot is not a good thing to do when running for reelection. This is about doing the right thing. Reporter its estimated the tax would generate almost 70 million per year, enough some say in willow glen to put more boots on the ground. I heard today from two campos contenders in the upcoming election, this is not the solution and his District Needs someone who can actually lead. Its a huge increase over the same time last year and tonight, another startling statistic. Health Officials Say 20 of those who died had been given a flu shot. Santa clara is reporting two additional flurelated deaths that brings the total in the county to eight so far this season and Alameda County is reporting another flurelated death. Doctors say its not too late to get your flu vaccine and it really is your best protection, but they also say there are very simple things that you can do to gain added protection. More and more people are rolling up their sleeves to get a flu shot with good reason. The death toll across the state is claiming steadily. California Health Officials have now confirmed 98 deaths and say they are investigating 51 more reported just this past week. Here in the bay area, at least 31 people have died from flu this season, including two deaths reported today in santa clara county, a 48yearold man and a 58yearold woman, and one death reported in Alameda County. At Washington Hospital in fremont Infectious Disease specialist dr. Diane martin says getting a flu shot is your best defense, but she also says you can gain added protection by taking some simple steps to boost your immune system. Start with getting some sleep, seventh or eight hours a night. Plug in yourself phone, electric car, plug in yourself to boost your immune and energy. Reporter dr. Investigating a construction accident at a home near San Franciscos twin peaks neighborhood in which three workers were hurt. The men were working at a home on clayton street with a sco scaffolding attached to the house fell. Two of the workers are said to have potentially lifethreatening injuries. The third is in serious condition. The men were hired to do roofing work and the building inspector says they didnt have proper permits and the scaffolding was makeshift. Teresa is a teacher at Matthew Turner elementary school. Police say she attended an after hours pot luck dinner. Later that evening, several guests got sick including a person that had to be hospitalized. They found thc in the victims blood. Thc is the primary component of pot.
