At this time, we can confirm that eight of these fires have been intentionally set. The most recent having occurred this morning at 4 23 at 7 the 7 east st. Johns. Targeted structures have included a church, commercial building, and five family residences. The causes of two are still undetermined. Reporter san jose firefighters say it was a jogger who alerted them to the fire this morning by the banging on the door of their station, which is very close to the home of the corner of east st. John and 18th street. A couple in their 70s were able to get out safely, thanks to some neighbors who alerted them. Kimberly tere, nbc, bay area news. Kimberly, any idea at this point on a motive for these fires . Reporter not yet. Police are still police and fire, i should say, are working very closely together to try to, number one, identify the person of interest, and number two, try and find a motive. They said that it could be a myriad of different things. Right now they dont want to put their finger on just one thing, they want to leave it open and just find the person responsible. Kimberly, thank you. We have new information on a house fire in walnut creek that left one person dead. Firefighters identified the victim as 62yearold charles mcdonald. Firefighters found his body on the second floor of the home. Heavy flames and smoke made it difficult to find the victim. An autopsy is scheduled for monday. As the number of flu related deaths in the bay area continues to rise, theres word of a temporary shortage in some locations of the flu vaccine. Monty francis is in millbrae with more on that for us. Reporter good evening. At the beginning of the day, this walgreens had about 30 doses of the flu vaccine on hand. This afternoon they ran out. Now it will be monday before they can get more. As far as we can tell, this is not a widespread shortage, but wall greens and cvs acknowledged some of their pharmacies are running low or run out of flu shots because of high demand and it would take 48 hours to replenish the supply. State Health Officials are urging people to get the flu vaccine, citing a series of deaths resulting from the h1n1 virus. Also known as swine flu. Seven bay area counties, plus santa cruz county, have reported collectively more than a dozen deaths so far this flu season. The most recent victim was a 23yearold man from Sonoma County with no Underlying Health problems. In fact, all of the victims so far have been under the age of 65. But despite that, many people say they still arent planning on getting vaccinated. I do worry about it. Its my community. I think its personal if its friend or family. Still, no. I know there are people that have died recently. But i consider if its my time to go, then its my time to go. But i dont try to worry about getting illnesses or being really concerned about that. Reporter but not everyone feels that way. In fact, today in san rafael got their flu shots while signing up for health care plans. Two years ago 600 californians died in the swine flu pandemic. So far Health Officials are not predicting anything like that. This walgreens is out, but we checked out and there is an availability of vaccines at other pharmacies. Officers found a man op the sidewalk on willow glen way around 1 40 in the morning. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The Coroners Office is not releasing the victims name until theyre able to notify family members. A team looking to recover the bodies of a san jose man and his family have been turned back. Dale smith and four other members of his family were killed in a plane crash in idaho in early december. Crews just found the wreckage yesterday. Bad weather today, though, stopped the Recovery Team from getting back to the site and getting the bodies back to the family. That weather is expected to last through tomorrow. Authorities are meeting on monday to discuss how to reach the remote crash site. Authorities on the peninsula are asking for the publics help tonight in finding a man involved in an armed robbery. From here, skies continue to clear on out. Rainfall projections have been light with this system. Not doing much besides drop our temperatures down into the 50s to near 60 today. Rainfall totals, as we add things up with this system, just enough to wet the ground, mainly north of San Francisco up into the north bay. The trend through the next 12 hours will be to see clearing skies. Whats left of the showers shutting down in the north bay, taking us into tomorrow morning. Clearing, which hints at much bigger changes to come. That could send temperatures close to recordbreaking highs in your sevenday forecast.
