remain. pg & e, found seven gas leaks in the cuppertino neighborhood. marianne favro joins us live. seven weeks in the small area. what is to say another explosion won't happen again? >> reporter: well they are doing more thorough inspections right now staying out to make sure. obviously there is no guarantee unless you inspect every single gas line. i want to show you how strong the explosion was on wednesday. if you take a look behind me. you will see that it ripped the garage door right off the hinges. and if you look above, you will see that the entire balcony was scorched. that is why today, many neighbors in this complex decided that they were going to get a gas leak inspection. when an explosion gutted this cuppertino townhouse it reignited neighbors fears to becoming victim of the deadly pipeline explosion similar to the one in san bruno last year. >> it was an explosion. like everybody else, san bruno call to mind. it was frightening to think there was natural gas. >> reporter: since the fire in this unit, pg & e has found a total of seven natural gas leaks in its plastic pipelines running under this 417-unit development. hardly reassuring for neighbors. >> obviously, shock. concern that, that, there are no larger ush uissues. it is something we are concerned about and take seriously. we understand the residents have concerns, have a lot of questions of what we did yesterday and what we are continuing to do today is to have a large presence in the community. we have gas service representatives who are going door to door answering any questions or concerns that people have. >> the next step is we are going to check the perimeter of the house. >> now, ann jefferson is having a pg & e gas representative check her home for a natural gas leak. no signs of leaks were found. >> i really want reassurance that they was going to be really investigated. >> the fire has definitely rattled nerves here. this is where the main leak was de detected. you can see flames. kevin pierson was one of the first on scene. >> woe hae have reports of an explosion. fire in the garage. when they got here they found this door was gone. >> they also found a garage door lying on the driveway. luckily the woman who lives here was not home and no one was hurt. but the explosion was a walkup call, neighbors here, say they will never forget. a this fire could have been much worse if you look at the home next to where the fire was burning. you can site is untouched. because there is a fire wall there. that fire wall prevented flames from spreading to other condo units. now pg & e tells me if you happen to smell natural gas inside your home, doinn't use yr phone don't turn on the light switch and dent use any electric appliances. any spark could ignite if there is natural gas leaking inside your home. reporting live from cuppertino, marianne favro. >> last year's san bruno explosion has candidates speaking. he called the utility company a great company. the comments came two days after pg & e's scathing federal report on san bruno. some are questioning the timing. city attorney, and supervisor, both released statements attackg lee's next friday marks the one-year anniversary of that explosion. the rock star who wrote the song "time of your life" didn't have such a good time at oakland international airport. the front man of the grammy award winning rock band green day was kicked off a southwest flight for wearing saggy pants. billy joe armstrong lives in the bay area, his band is a product of the berkeley punk rock scene. jodi hernandez joins us live with the story. jodi? >> billy joe arm sfrostrong has a long way since getting his start in berkeley 20 years ago. he is not used to the kind of treatment he experience add boa -- e experienced last night. armstrong, lead singer for green day was boarding a flight last night when booted off for wearing saggy pants. we talked to a passenger on that flight, who says the incident took about 30 second to a minute. she describes it as a heated argument. she says the flight attendant sternly ordered armstrong to pull up his pants or get off the plane. she says an upset armstrong asked the flight attendant don't you have something better to do? then he was quickly escorted off the plane. now armstrong tweeted about what happened.ta shortly after saying, "just got kicked off a southwest flight because my pants sagged too low." no joke. southwest airlines issued a statement today about what took place. as soon as we became aware of what happened, we reached out to apologize for this customer's experience. he elected to take the next flight. we followed up with this customer and involved employees to get more details and in our latest conversations, understand from the customer, the situation was resolved to his satisfaction now. you may remember, this comes on the heels of a june incident in which a 20-year-old san francisco man was detained and removed from a u.s. airways flight for wearing saggy pants. that man's attorney says, unlike armstrong, his client never got an apology. again this time it was a famous musician who was targeted and booted for wearing saggy pants. again this time southwest airlines says, it's sorry. in berkeley, jodi her hernandez. >> with the sluggish economy burglary is on the rise. precious metals, said to be the motive at an antique mall. 200 antique booths at antique and design mall. the robbers who broke in, broke in through the roof and they knew where they were goechling. they scouted the building answered a craigslist ad from a teenager who then introduced him to other boys. >> that particular witness said that he listed he was 18 years old. in reality he was 16 years old. based on the evidence it is clear though -- the evidence presented to the grand jury, that the defendant was aware that they were high school boys and under the age of 1. >> he is accused of inviting the teens to his house, giving them alcohol and gifts and having sex with them. he faces more than 3 1/2 years in prison if convicted. the district attorney says there may be more victims. the officer its out on but now a seismic retrofit and reconstruction project has it side lined for the season. berkeley resident gary thompson has been going to cal games for nearly 30 years. able to walk to the stayed from strange to say. cal hosting fresno state this saturday at candlestick park. it might be the nation's first cannibus street fair happening this weekend in oakland. advocates with medical marijuana cards lighting up on the steps of city hall. like street fairs, speakers, music, booths, and food. most unusual attraction for the street fair will be the 215 area. a designated spot in front of city hall where those with ale valid medical marijuana card will be able to ingest, smoke or vaporize their pot. open air lounge believed the first of its kind in the country. now 215, what is significance, reference to proposition 215. 1996 state ballot measure that legalized personal use of medical marijuana. in oakland, skaters who built a renegade skate park are relieved after rumors swirled that skate park would be torn down immediately. the relief might be short-lived. known as the border town, under the macarthur mays near emory hill. the problem is it on caltrans property. the agency will give 72 hours before removing and dismantling the park. skaters say it is just wrong. >> there wasn't us here there would be people doing drugs. they would have people not doing anything bring 10 to 15-foot waves. the professionor of oceanography says this storm could bring in 25-foot waves off the shoreline. >> this tomb of year we are going into the summer pattern, breaking down. minutes. guys? >> new tonight at 6:00, the controversial fire thief, rural homeowners is heating up. governor jerry brown wants to change the law which he signed less than two months ago. proposing to raise the maximum fee of $150 to a minimum fee of $175. he also wants to change the wording of the law to ensure the money can be used by the department of forestry. governor brown enacted the law to generate money from, from rural homeowners who may need fire protection instead of taking it out of the state avenue budget. fast-moving fire, wildfire in southern california has the burned several homes and forcinged about 1,500 to evacuate. you see the pictures. pretty impressive. interstate 15 was shut down for some time. interstate 15 the main highway between southern california and las vegas. the u.s. forest service says the fire started around 1:00 today and quickly ballooned to more than 500 acres. a dozen aircraft have been called in to fight the flames. an update now on a story first brought to you ones when day regarding several ducks injured by blow darts in santa clara. there is some good news. injured ducks have been swimming in waters near the condo complex t. they have small darts through their beaks. someone apparently shooting a blow gun right at them. one of the ducks was res couped to day in san jose by a concerned person who happened to have a net. in the process the dart became entajd in the net and was pulled out. the bird is recovering at the wildlife care of silicone valley. there is still one injured duck in the area. despite the well in ten,ed rescue, wildlife officials say the bird should only be rescued by professional bird handlers to prevent injuries. >> a judge dismissed most of the charges against a san francisco attorney accused of sixablely assaulting three women at his apartment. robert hoffman faced nine felony charges accused of arraigneninging metdings with the women through craigs. list ads and sexually assaulting them. but at a preliminary hearing, the judge threw out six of the nine charges saying there was insufficient evidence to prove allegations by two of the women. the three remaining charges stem from an encounter between hoffman and a 36-year-old east bay woman who says he sexually assaulted her after she responded to his craigslist ad. >> it is really unusual. i think my client has been falsely accused by women. the fact that two or three of them lie doesn't make it the truth. >> hoffman will next appear in court, december 16th on the remaining charges. nearly ten years after the 9/11
