An update now on a big wildfire in Southern California burning in the hills over rank Cho Cucamonga 45 miles east of downtown l. A. Firefighters say the fire is 67 contained right now. Its burning more than 2,100 acres. Three firefighters suffered minor injuries. That fire has been burning since wednesday. Well, challenging firefighters today, dry conditions on the ground. And the other big worry, an event that happens every year. Starting right around this time. The santa ana winds. California is one of the few places in this country be the weather, in this case, wind, moves from east to west. The winds blow like a furnace down the dry mountains and out toward the pacific. The driver who caused the crash ditched his car and ran away from the scene. Police havent found him yet but one passenger in the suspects car stayed around after the accident and is helping with the investigation. Berkeley police may be one step closer to getting tasers. Berkeley city council is asking for a study on giving tasers to police officers. Looking at other Police Departments who use them now, see how theyre doing. The cooling trend is going to stick around. As the marine layer thickens up tomorrow, as early as tonight, we might see areas of mixed drizzle at times. The model is picking up a little of that. Partly cloudy skies moving into the afternoon and per happens a better chance of seeing showers late monday into early tuesday. This system here is dropping in mainly inland. It doesnt have a lot of moisture. It could toss our way is late monday into tuesday, especially across the north bay and east bay hill top. A slight chance of seeing showers. More than a year after losing their beloved pet during superstorm sandy, a new jersey family made an amazing discovery, they found the missing dog. They found him 18 months after he went missing. An amazing story. They spent months looking for him. They said well, if we are not going to find him, lets go to the shelter and find a new dog. They walk into the pet shelter and see him. Opened the two doors and sitting in the first stall, right in front of the doors was our dog. I said he looks like reckless. My wife said look at the scar, that is reckless. Amazing. He was left at the shelter after he was picked up as a stray. He was not microchipped or he might have been found sooner. A tip for pet owners out there. You probably know it, do it, though. Another dog is back at home. A Southern California police dog shot in the line of duty. Bruno was shot back in mid march. The 7yearold German Shepherd was hit in the lower jaw and chest and survived. He was releaseed from the Animal Hospital yesterday. They are thrilled to see him healthy again. Because of the support, thoughts and prayers, its because of that we are here so fast. Thats what got bruno through this. I cant tell you how excited i am to get him home. He will be officially retired may 13th. He served on the canine unit for six years. He made it to great heights.
