About 30 participants suffered hypothermia, one had to be hospitalized. This happened after the swim portion of the race when firefighters say the lake was about 37 degrees, just too cold for athletes. They were able to get out of the water and warm up and recover at a nearby fire station. In oakland an Early Morning wakeup forp a family after a tree crashed into their home just after 4 0024 morning on thornhill drive. When the first three fell it created a domino effect causing other trees to come down as well. Rick boon is in oakland hills. Reporter residents have been dealing with a lot over the past two days. All it cook was a little bit of moisture to fall from the sky to losen up the ground a little bit, causing hundreds of thousands of dollars in damage. Over the next few days, there may be more weather on the way. Crews try to save a house in oakland after a tree fell. They were picking up everything, loading up a couple of cars. They had a little baby that they were happy didnt get hit. Early saturday morning around 3 50, the house on the hill still standing, the damage inside a total loss. Neighbors say it isnt the first time a tree has crashed into homes on their street. The tree apparently fell on a stud and thats the only thing that kept it from being from everybody being wiped out. The damage comes as a mudslide forced people out of four homes in oakland hills. Theres a lot of trees and a lot of water coming down and we love the trees, but this is scary. The mud still coverage backyarnds and continuing to scene into homes. I dont know what to expect next. With more rain on the way, the threat far from over. Neighbors concerned if theyll be the next victim. Now, no injuries for that family whose house was destroyed by that tree collapse. The search is on for a suspect involved in a deadly shooting at a strip mall, the Old Town Center on newark boulevard, police found the victim in a passenger seed of a car still running. This was newarks first homicide of the year. Police say someone shot and stabbed a teenager in a Bowling Alley overnight. Its the 4th street bowl near the 881 interchange. Our reporter is live. This is a popular spot not only for young people but for families as well. Reporter it certainly is. In fact, police tell us when this attack happened that not only was the Bowling Alley crowded but the adjacent diner was busy, too. This all happened shortly after midnight. A boy was stabbed several times and shot at least once after a fight broke out outside 4th street bowl. The attack happened before 1 00 this morning. The boy was taken to a local hospital. Even though he was stabbed several times and shot, he is expected to survive. Were still trying to determine motive. If there is a if we determine it is gang related, it will be handled by our gang investigation unit. Reporter police say both the Bowling Alley and the diner were crowded. Officers were unable to interview several witnesses. Police officers just pulled into the Bowling Alley parking lot. Perhaps they are continuing that investigation. Kevin rod rico was last seen near the venicianmartinez bridge. He parked his car about 9 00 saturday morning, got out and started walking. Police have been certaining by helicopter and boat. Looks like cleanup crew are getting a handle on a environmental disaster in the bay. A barge has been leaking fuel into the water after sinking the other day. Tom, workers have stopped the fuel fill from spreading, is that right . Reporter a boom connected to the floatation devices south of the island and south of if bay bridge used to contain the oil slick. Divers have been underwater covering fuel vents where the fuel has been leaking. Theyve been working to stop the leak on the 112 boat yesterday. It was holding 4,000 gallons of fuel and hundreds of gallons of hydraulic fluid, both has andrus to marine life. Evidence is that work has been successful where you can see the lighter oil sheen this afternoon. Weve also has people out doing shoreline assessment and then of course fish and wild life have been doing their own assessment of the shoreline as well as impact to any wild life. To this point, other than that small sheen, we havent seen significant environmental impact. Bart uses the barge for divers doing anticorrosion divers on the underground tunnel or tube that carries passengers between San Francisco and the east bay. The marine turned musician from the east bay has become a national crusader and a leader against ptsd and veteran suicide. His latest release superman call based on the suicide of his brother is on an album called battle cry. Its raising thousands of dollars. Weve also recently heard some sad and some happy news from people weve met along the way. Rex bauers daughter let us know he had passed away. He was an inspiration to his lake county neighbors as they struggled to recover from the devastating valley fire. It brings comfort. Weve also heard Something Wonderful from desiree reyes.
