Protesters tried to get on that bridge but officers blocked them. So far the protests have been peaceful. Now to the breaking news, once again, back in dallas, where tensions are very high once again there. The Police Department has received an anonymous threat against Law Enforcement yet again. New video just into the newsroom shows officers searching a Police Parking garage for a suspicious person. Some witnesses from the scene say that officers are taking cover, but as you can see, not wearing any sort of headgear or protective clothing other than their uniforms. Live pictures from our nbc chopper in dallas right now. Theyve asked the media, local and national, helicopter and otherwise, to sort of stay back. Theyve pushed them back from Police Headquarters there. They want to make sure theyre keeping the situation protected. Were continuing to monitor this situation. New details about the gunman there, micah johnson, he was accused of Sexual Harassment during an army tour in afghanistan. He later received an honorable discharge, however. Memorials are taking place across dallas to honor the victims. Nbcs Chris Pollone has those details. Reporter a memorial to the five murdered Police Officers is growing outside dallas Police Headquarters. We just want to be united. Reporter many feel helpless, knowing theres nothing they can really do except offer sympathy and support. I think everybody should come out, if you love the police, if you love dallas. The Police Officers always keep us safe in the community and, you know, we just have to give thanks. Reporter a few steps from the memorial, a former army medic held a salute. A friend said he planned to do this for four hours to show the actions of one military member, gunman micah johnson, dont represent the entire military. Dallas mayor Mike Rawlings also visited, hoping something positive could come from one of his citys darkest days. Were all human here. And i think that people feel each othersk2wpr. Reporter a couple of blocks away, police are still processing a huge crime scene, trying to answer key questions about johnson. How long had he planned the attack. Where he got his weapon. Whether he acted alone. Meanwhile, five families are planning funerals. My son is a hero. The ambush in dallas killed five officers and injured seven, two that worked for the dallas area Rapid Transit authority. Theyve just now been released from the hospital. Meantime, here in the north bay, the California Cadet Academy collected donations for the fallen and injured officers and their families, part of a Public Safety fair in american canyon. Its likely many people saw it. It triggered a shelter in place warning for people in the area. Firefighters spent two and a half hours putting out the flames. The site was at the ahg recycling center. It was loaded with metal, plastics and other recyclables. Air quality officials have been monitoring the scene and say it is okay. A man is recovering in an east bay hospital after he crashed his car into a fire truck late last night on highway 4, right next to the pittsburgh b. A. R. T. Station. Chp says the contra costa fire crew was working an accident when a man slammed his black honda into one of the trucks. He told police he fell asleep at the wheel. Fortunately the fire truck was empty. It was not by chance. Ever since a bad accident years ago, they send out a second truck to block firefighters who are working a job. It prevented serious injury, possibly even the death of one of our firefighters. So the policy works. Kept our people saves. It was a very near miss incident. Chp says the driver of the honda was rushed to the hospital with injuries to his chest. A former heelsberg mayor has died following a fishing trip on the river. I think rio is getting ready. Reporter economist mark speakel has also done research on these events and found they cost a lot more than were worth. We scream about it but people think were boring so they dont want to hear about it. They think the olympics is exciting and they get all fired up. Reporter the city ran out of money to finish a subway line and for security and had to declare a state of emergency to get funding. Plus theres the ongoing issue of cleaning the polluted bay. The u. S. Rowing team plans to sport seamless antimicrobial unisuits before they hit the water. Some of the olympic city will be getting a makeover. The athletes village will turn into a Luxury Development known as pure island. When you think about olympic success, you have to think about the fierce five, the gold medal winning team. And who else but kila ross. Whats it like being back here . Its awesome to be back in san jose. This city was so amazing four years ago. To be out here in front of this crowd is awesome. Reporter back to when you were competing in 2012, what were your favorite experiences about the whole process of being here . And then eventually leading up to making the team and becoming one of what became the fierce five. Yeah, coming out here four years ago and being able to have the Team Announced in front of all these fans was an amazing experience. Im glad theyre going to announce the team tomorrow night. Reporter from what we cant see on television, what is that like . We know youve put out some good performances, some are more specialized in certain events, others are great all round. Whats it like when you go into that room and the call is made . What goes through your mind . I mean, theres really nothing on your mind except for that one goal youve been training for. So for those five girls tomorrow night, its going to be like the best day of their lives to hear that theyve made that olympic team. Its going to be something that theyve really worked for their entire life. Reporter and ive got to say just from the response youre getting here around the s. A. P. Center, youre now the role model for a lot of young girls and gymnasts that are here around the bay area. What experience did you have growing up . Who were your role models in gymnastics that led you on your path . Its definitely fun to see all the olympians here together. Thats what we tell people for their reunion. I know i wasnt even born yet to see them. But definitely hearing their names, and then seeing the 2000, 2004, and 08 girls all together. Theyre such amazing role models growing up. Reporter you have been competing since 2012, but youve taken this year off . Yeah, so i actually retired earlier this fall or sorry, this spring. And now im going to be in college. Im getting ready to go to ucla. Reporter joining sam pechik over there, another 2008 national specialist. Were just a day away from knowing whos going to join the 2016 team. What advice would you give them as they move forward and try to follow in these large footsteps that youve set for them in going to rio . Theyre in there training right now as we speak. Theyve topped off a normal day of training, tonight, go back and rest, try not to overthink anything, like a normal day, then come out tomorrow and do what theyve been doing in training. You have to put those nerves aside and go out and perform as best you can. Reporter weve got gabby out there, and aly too. Have you been cheering them on, keeping in touch . Definitely. A desperate search in vallejo tonight for a woman kidnapped and held for ransom. Four people were arrested in the case in the past 24 hours. But they didnt tell investigators where the victim is. Nbc bay areas Marianne Favro is live in vallejo where police have wrapped up a News Conference there. Marianne, can you tell us anything about where the case stands tonight . Reporter yes, i can. As you mentioned, peggy, this case is very concerning because even though Vallejo Police were able to arrest four primary suspects in this case, three men and one woman, for accusations of kidnapping for ransom, tonight they still do not know where the victim is. Her name is elvira babb. She was last seen last week when a coworker dropped her off near her house. On july 1st, her son received a text message asking him to pay money, less than six figures, or his mother would be killed. When police went to her home, they found that elvira was gone and her dog was dead. After working leads and using text messages, Police Arrested three men and a woman, all from the sacramento and stockton area. Police say at least one of those suspects did know the victim but theyre not saying exactly what the connection is. We also want you to know that the fbi and the u. S.
