Now, the man was being held on a floor reserved for inmates who need medical or psychiatric supervision. He was moved there last week after authorities decided he needed to be put on a suicide watch. It involves a surprise reunion between a First Responder and a patient that brought a veteran fire captain to tears. Garvin thomas is here with the heartwarming story in tonights bay area proud. Santa clara count fire captain says medical privacy laws being what they are, he rarely knows what becomes of people he rescues once he drops them off at the hospital. They are left to wonder what becomes of the people they work on, often, but not always. You would think after 20 years on the job, fire captain brent would know a little bit about what to expect from a days work. Not so. No two calls, he says, are ever the same. Some, though, are better. And more memorable than others. I have been on great calls i have been a part of. This cleary makes the top of my list. Brent is talking about a call to a campbell home last september. Working at the engines paramedic that day, brent was rushed to a pregnant woman passed out. She was great. She was so pale, i couldnt believe it. I looked at her and i go, that lady is he correctly recognized it as a ruptured ectopic pregnancy. The baby, he knew, was lost, but the mom could be saved if his team got her to the hospital fast. Once we were going to the hospital, going as fast as you can, and the only thing i could do was put my hand on her head and say im going to take good care of you. Youre safe. Brent handed the woman over to surgeons at good samaritan, never knowing what became of her. That is, until a year later. When brent randomly decided to treat his crew to some starbucks after a hard day of training. I look up and this woman is sitting there, looking at me. And she had tears in her eyes. Because i wouldnt have been alive without him. He saved my life. I mean seeing sadie lowry alive was a pleasant surprise for brent. But not his only one that day. And she said, i want you to meet my son. There was a baby in a carriage. What i didnt know, she had twins. I thought she was just pregnant with one and lost the baby. And there was this beautiful baby boy. It was there. Hi, partner. Not sure if they had saved one life, brent now knows he and his crew saved two. Sadie brought the whole family by brents station recently to say thanks one more time. Brent says becoming a father himself almost a decade ago has made him a better firefighter. Better at understanding whats at stake on each call. Its why perhaps brent broke down in tears in the middle of that starbucks. Knowing he not only made the right choices that work day, but frankly, all of his work days. Now were all sobbing. Brent is quick to point out he is just one link in a chain that kept sadie and her baby alive that day. He says the whole team gets credit. He just happened to be the one in the lead that day, and also the one who randomly decided to take his crew to starbucks to figure out what the end of that story was. They might not have ever known otherwise. Kudos to sadie for remembering him in the midst of all the panic. She said in all the craziness going on, him in her face was the one thing she remembered. When he said i am in charge, i got this, she had a sense of calm. Impressive. Beautiful story. Lets get a check of the forecast with jeff ranieri. Hi, jeff. As we head throughout thursdays forecast, heres the change for us. A swarm of honeybees took a Police Cruiser hostage today. Check out the amount of bees surrounding this patrol car. Thousands of them trapped an oklahoma sheriffs deputy inside his car on an oklahoma highway. A semi truck carrying the bees crashed on its side earlier in the afternoon, and all the honeybees were dumped along the interstate. Motorists traveling down that interstate were driving into bees about a half mile away from that accident. Experts say it could take hours before beekeepers are able to clear that area. Oh, my gosh. A big job. I would want out. I would close all the vents, too. Good thinking. I would be afraid. You know with the drought and the warmer temperatures, a lot of bees are trying to find anywhere to make a home, and i actually had that problem at my house where bees were going into an old mole hole and actually creating a hive. Kind of ground bee situation, not good news. Free honey, though. If you want to look at it that way. I dont think jeff wanted that. After the report of killer bees in lafayette, im thinking twice. So its this up and down pattern returning but at least its not too hot for friday and saturday in san jose. A look at livermore and the average is 82. Below average temperatures on wednesday and thursday. It does go up to 90, but thats about it when it comes to the heat, and then well start to see numbers go back down to 87 on saturday and then eventually 79 on sunday. Now, as we look ahead to this weekends forecast, we talked about the temperature trends, also for the east bay, 83 on saturday, and 78 on sunday. And for the north bay, 85 on saturday and 76 on sunday. I have been getting a lot of questions about el nino and when could we have those impacts. Statistically, january, february, and march will have the best chance of above average rainfall for the bay area and that will be linked to el nino. We have to wait a while before that window sort of opens, but so far, looking good for the above average chance of rainfall once again, january, february, and march. We waited four years. We can wait three more months. I know, right . Come on, rain. Thanks so much, and thanks for joining us. Wx ctr projector 65 screens interview set tonight, showdown on abortion.
