Again, theyre starting to get things back to normal and there are a number of crews out here working on it. A job of this magnitude will take some time. Specialized equipment, personnel and vehicles are required and thats what were working to do safely and quickly as possible. There is now access to portable showers on. Wednesday an inmate tested positive for the disease. Three others are at the hospital suspected of being carriers for the disease and 45 other inmates are being monitored for symptoms. The diagnosis prompted the prison to turn off the water yesterday. Think about that. Until today, inmates have had no showers. Theyve had to bring in porta potties and get in line to get their drinking water. Yesterday the toilets were cleared to be used again. Bay area rescue team come through again helping find missing 62yearold hiker alive today. Some members of the rescue team cannot leave the search area just yet. They havent said how badly she was hurt. Rescue teams from marin and san mateo counties took a day and a half to reach her. Difficult because of the terrain and smoke. The california Highway Patrol was able to find a way into the area where miss harwood was that found. They had to find a pathway through smoke into that neighborhood. I looked outside around 7 30 and i noticed people were already on the roof. By mid morning, there was a crew of 20 on the roof and donations of food enough for 50 waiting for them on the ground. They came from across the bay and down the street. Almost none of them david before this morning. They just wanted to help a neighbor help his neighbor. Bob valdez, a roofer with 18 years experience, brought his son with him all the way from tracy. You have to show him the values of life too. In the middle of it all, watching it all, a little stunned, was the homeowner, richard. He said he had been losing his faith in his fellow man over the years. And these folks, its turned out, werent just repairing his roof. They were repairing his soul. I was getting pretty discouraged about what people wanted to do and what people do to each other. Thats not good. Now i can see that it is not always that way. With so many hands, the work went quickly and it was just after noon that the last shingle was ready to be laid and they asked richard to finish what he had started. His roof, now ready to handle any water that may fall. Be it rain in the winter or tears today. Just all the people that came out and helped. Got it done so quickly. Amazing.
