It was the rockets contrail which is a trail of condensed water seen as a white streak against the sky. Checking in now with meteorologist rob, he has that microclimate forecast. Im not sure if you saw that but our weather feels like arizona, sounds like maybe they stole ours. Theyve had more rain than weve had for january the last two days. Heavy rain across arizona. Around here you were able to see that contrail because we had clear skies this morning. Were finishing with mostly Clear Conditions and still mild temperatures outside. Right now 66 degrees in san jose. But look at San Francisco. Near 70. 10 to 12 degrees above average highs. Another stop takes us out to the trivalley. Dublin 66. After temperatures a bit earlier were in the low 70s. So the wind direction today, winds out of the north, High Pressure compressed warming air aloft. Down towards sea level. Its sort of like the atmospheric hair dryer weve turned on the bay area today. Enough that we did hit new record highs across a good portion of the bay area from the north bay through the south bay, warmest temperature today out here santa rosa and san rafael. Another record today. And fortunately hitting new lows. This is for the alltime driest month of january. And you see the numbers. We just set the record last year, in the middle of a nasty drought were trying to get out of this january. And unfortunately, even drier. If you go back all the way to the last week of december, 38 days and counting without significant rainfall above just trace amounts. Now, theres hope for some change. Sevenday forecast at the bottom of the screen brings in showers towards the end of next week. Meantime, powerful low pressure in the gulf of alaska. Looks pretty strong. Of course weve got a lot of wind and rain. High pressure which has been the story of the month gertdiverting energy off to the north. So for your sunday forecast were going to see clouds at times. But unfortunately no rainproducing clouds. Tomorrow mid and highlevel clouds. With temperatures running just a few degrees cooler. But still, upper 60s, near 70 in your sunday forecast there. You can see San Francisco in the low to mid60s. And for the north bay, highs in the mid to upper 60s. Pleasanton and livermore, again, seeing highs enclose he says to 70. So the opportunity for us to finally see some rain coming back will begin to show up in the north bay towards the middle part of the week. But a much better chance for the rest of the bay area. Its a long ways to wait. But by next friday and into next weekend, thats when we think well see that rain making a comeback. The outlook for next week, a dry start. Clouds increasing for friday. Notice San Francisco heading into friday. Now youre starting to see showers. For the north bay, things may get interesting. Youll have to wait towards thursday and friday. We hope that opens the storm door after at that point six weeks without substantial rain. Hopefully looking at changes by next weekend. Peggy . Fingers crossed. Lets hope it gets here.
