Around the bay area, youve got the heat south of downtown san jose. Numbers in the mid90s. Upper 90s again out toward the trivalley. And up around the north bay, youre seeing low 90s, so you have heat there, breezy conditions, a little cooler in on San Francisco. 60s and 70s around the pa will ne peninsula. This morning we had brief showers and some of that held together long enough to drop rain around gilroy and thunder this morning and there you see across the sierra you can more lightning strikes. And here is the problem with the backdrop of the weather pattern. Were seeing really falllike conditions, dry hillsides, feels ready to burn and any lightning strikes could spark more fires. Well let you know how long the pattern will stick around in a few minutes. Fire crews getting ready of course for wherever it might happen next. Lets go to where strike crews have been deployed. Reporter the command center tells me they sent 30 firefighters to the san fire yesterday. And they are on the front lines. Calfire is monitoring the resources from the command center in morgan hill. The computer monitors what aircraft are doing, what fe personnel are doing. The team started fighting the fire as soon as they hit the ground. Most of our personnel are assigned to the sand incident. So eight engines, miscellaneous support vehicles with chief officers, and total of about 30 personnel are assigned to the sands fire at this time. Reporter as you know, yesterday in the south bay, there were at least three separate fires, including a warehouse fire in san jose. Calfire says even though it has sent 30 firefighters to the sands fire, they still have enough personnel to respond if there should be a big fire in the south bay and they can get additional help from mutual adrianza stations throughout the bay area. The prognosis for a girl with down syndrome at that time and in that place was not one full of promise. Yes, the doctor says that maybe shell be able to fit in society. Reporter but mom nancy says a mainstream education and two loving older sisters gave kim a great foundation. She says kims natural ability are what made her a great athlete. She learned to swim in thailand with a teacher young. And thats where her nice strokes and all came from. Reporter strokes kim showed off to the country at this years special owe him tie lilys in new jersey in june. That is kim in the 100 meter free style relay where her team won a gold medal. This one is silver reporter just one of three medals kim won during the game. I love to win. I was very proud. Yeah. Reporter but what makes mom even prouder is who kim choosing to live her life every day. This summer teaching not just swimming, but art to children at the community center. And we did have earlier today enough moisture to kick off showers around the trivalley and areas south of san jose. Most has moved on and then clearing skies and temperatures warming up, still 85 in san jose. But in terms of rainfall, most falling just south of the bay area. We picked up about. 004 of annism. Brief thunder before the skies cleared. Just about to reach the ground there in santa cruz. Also toward pleasant ton. Where we still have how much up out of the south. The low clouds and mid moisture on top. We did have showers push through san jose. Things drying out for now. You can see a few clouds on the coast, but shower activity backing off. And you can see the lightning strikes it is appear in the last six hours. Things starting to dry out before the next round comes in towards later tomorrow. A number of problems with lightning strikes on the beaches west of los angeles. Thats the moisture coming our way during the day tomorrow. So well see increasing clouds again later tomorrow as we start off the day with partly cloudy condition, probably another warm to hot day. And then you see the next batch of moisture coming in 5 00 tomorrow. Into tuesday, mostly cloudy skies to start, scattered showers at times. Until the winds aloft begin to push that monsoon moisture in the upper level wind align with the seabreeze low level winds and push more of the moisture off to the east. So this pattern has been unusual. Typically in july we dont see rain and we dont have this much monsoonal moisture. But its been an interesting pattern. This is what you would expect to see this time of year with the northwest winds down the coast, Ocean Temperatures in the 50s and Desert Southwest high blocked off. But informed what were seeing so far, over the last week and a half, that high has ballooned out. Over northern california. Pushing the monsoon moisture further west shutting down the up welling on the coast, so the coast getting the warm sea surface temperature and we have showers and a chance of thunder. That is the case through tuesday and well see a chance of cooler temperatures towards thursday and friday. So tomorrow, before the clouds arrive, it will be another hot the day around the bay area. Well see temperatures eventually getting into the low 90s south of downtown san jose, saratoga mid 9090s. Santa rose, about 85. Mid90s around police leasanton. And cloud cover may bring down temperatures slightly but thats with increased humidity on tuesday. And sea brees turnibreeze hopef decreasing fire danger in the hills. And you talk about the lightning strikes in southern california. 14 people struck by lightning down there. 13 of them at venice beach. And this is a rare summer thunderstorm that swept through. Lifeguards performed cpr on at least one of the people pulled from the water coming up thousands of people lacing up their runs shoes.
