Adds an al ham bra fire truck. A fire took the life of a mother and 3yearold child today. Witnesses literally saw people jumping from the second story windows to escape those flames. The fire breaking out on the first floor of this building in a sunnydale Public Housing development. Firefighters say they found the woman inside dead, her toddler rushed to the hospital where unfortunately he later died. The boys aunt says the Housing Units are full of drug dealer and no child should be growing up there. Who would want any child, anybody in their right mind wouldnt want a child growing up in that situation. We deal with it all around here. This particular complex is old. It was built in 1940. Theres been talk of rebuilding the structures that are in the worst conditions. Now to an nbc bay area followup. Were getting a lot of viewer feedback about the story. A water main leaking in san jose in a neighborhood, leaking for two days. The street was slowly flooding, the asphalt deteriorating. But today crews finally fixed the problem. But as weve discovered, there are other water leaks across the city. Nbc bay areas Marianne Favreau with the details in the midst of our drought. Reporter we have talked to several people in the south bay who say they have been waiting for weeks for San Jose Water Company to come out and repair the leaks they reported in their neighborhood. This particular leak in san jose was repaired in just a couple of days. Crews were out here all day fixing it. The asphalt was really spongy yesterday. Now you can see that the water leak has been repaired. But right now the company is working to repair 20 leaks in the south bay, and that means lots of water down the drain in the middle of a drought. What a difference a day makes. This is what it looked like on rosewood avenue in san jose yesterday. And this is what it looks like today. San Jose Water Company crews are repairing a water leak in this neighborhood near santana row that turned hard asphalt into spony surfaces. I dont want to come out and have a sinkhole in the middle of the neighborhood. Reporter San Jose Water Company that serves 240,000 households and businesses says it simply cannot get to every leak right away. Yesterday alone there were 23 leaks on the companys repair waiting list. Company spokesman john tang says getting to this leak in a couple of days was a timely response. It was a little geyser. Reporter elizabeth says the companys response was far from timely after she reported water running down the streets in front ever of her familys aptment three weeks ago. Its been limit rally spewing out water for i think weve been here for three weeks. God knows how long it was going on before that. Theres a river of water. We were having to push it out. Reporter elizabeth says she called san jose water five times. Crews finally show upd today. We cant waste water, but they can waste water. Thats not fair. Reporter Water Companies say crews try to fix the biggest leaks first. Wed love to have all of them fixed instantly, but we need a much larger work force. It wouldnt be affordable to our customers. We prioritize them. Reporter still, some wonder how a company that is asking customers to cut back their water oouse 20 would let this much of the Precious Resource go to waste. I spoke with another gentleman in mont serino today who said he reported his water leak on his street back on march 22nd and crews just showed up today to fix it. The San Jose Water Company tells me they are very concerned about this loss of water. Now, this is where the girl ended up, on the sidewalk at the foot of the driveway here in berkeleys elmwood district. Tonight we are learning that the teenager may be a victim of human sex trafficking. She kept on saying, hell me help me reporter thats what neighbors say they awoke to early this morning, the screams of a terrified teenager sitting naked on the sidewalk. She was screaming, help me, help me and then when we got closer she said, i cant see. Ive been pepper sprayed. I cant see. Reporter this woman was among those who went to the girls aid, giving her water to wash out her burning eyes and a blanket to cover up. She was completely naked. Not even shoes. Nothing. When i was walking away, she started saying, i was raped. Somebody raped me, she said. Somebody raped me. She said she was the reporter Berkeley Police claim the reported crimes took place in oakland and the girl was dropped off in berkeley. Tonight oak larnd police are trying to get to the bottom of it. They say that they have learned that the crimes did not take place in their jurisdiction. That means outside of oakland. More than 450 people were aboard this ferry when they heard a loud bang and then felt the boat tip directly into the water. Many of the passengers were High School Students on a class trip. As the water came rushing in, the ferry operator told them to stay in place. This happened yesterday as the ferry was headed to jeju island, the socalled hawaii of korea. You see the map here. Six people are confirmed dead at this hour, but 300 are still missing. Its been almost 24 hours now. Rescuers were only able to pull out about 160 people off the boat. Now a new effort is under way at the State Capitol to ask voters to amend it, to allow classes taught in Foreign Languages if they want. Seeing it firsthand and i think thats a great gift that every child should have an opportunity to have. The suspect is driebed as 58 with a mustache and a pockmarked face. Clearing up the smoke over Electronic Cigarettes san jose may become the next city to ban the controversial cigarettes. City Council Members examened a proposal this afternoon that calls for the same prestrikss for ecigarettes as regular tobacco cigarettes. Last month Santa Clara County supervisors approved a ban on ecigarettes in several areas, including hospitals and county facilities. Right now more than 40 cities in our state have placed restrictions on these cigarettes. Et today the school blessed the 116 handmade blankets which will be given out to various nonprofits and groups that help the sick and less fortunate. Each home room class held fundraisers to raise the money to purchase the fabric for the blienkettes. Sister Michael Ann Murphy says its been a very meaningful project.
