Hunter still has a long road to recovery ahead of them, but as Garvin Thomas is here to show us, that read will be easier thanks to an unlikely source. He was playing video games on august 11th when he was attacked. Hes already had multiple surgeries with likely many more to come. His mom says many think of this as a dog story, but many says its a people story. She says the story is as important as restoring his health and as youll see, one young man is helping him do just that. If lucas dreams come true feel that . That was it. Someone is one day going to pay him a lot of money to do what he already loves doing. Hitting an catching baseball. Still, what makes this baseball standout stand out even more, is he he is choosing to give long before he ever gets. Lucas is a star player on the Monte Vista High School baseball team. So good in fact, he was one of the handful of Young Players from around the world chosen to participate in the elite power showcase in miami. It was such a shock. One part of the event, a home run derby with a generous twist. With each home run hit, money raised for the charity of the players choice and while many chose large, wellknown organizations, ones that helped thousands of kids, lucas was interested in helping just one. Once i found out i could do a charity organization, first thing i thought was hunter. Lucas first heard about hunter like the rest of us. On the evening news. Hunter had been playing at a friends home in antiok when that neighbors two dogs attacked him. The injury severe, the scars long lasting, but then lucas learned he was soon to have another connection. His mom, kelly, was to be hunters fourth grade teacher in martinez. Over the past few months, lucas got to know hunter. Nothings going to really hold him back and i thought that was the coolest thing ever. And hunter got to know lucas. Hes tall, a big guy. Presenting california, here is lucas hallstead. So, if big League Scouts watching him hit in a Major League Park werent enough pressure, lucas wanted to hit out at least a few for hunter, which is just what he did. Its out of here. I get emotional about it all the time when i really think about it. You know, yeah, like hes my baby. Hes my first born and he wanted to do that for him. Its huge. In the end, lucas didnt just raise 2,000 for hunter, he gained a whole new perspective for himself. Ill probably never play another game of baseball without thinking its my last game because it can end like that. So many good things come from this story, the one that really stuck with me is that hunter has this idea of helping others. At 10 years old, his perspective is now changed. What this young man did for me want makes me want to go help other people. Very nice story. Still very dry out there. Dry and still plenty warm outside. 67 degrees in San Francisco. An area of low pressure dropping down the sierra over the bay area, so fire danger will be on the increase. Out in the north bay that will see these speeds increasing. 30 to 45 mile per hour wind gusts. Fire weather watch up for the north bay hill tops, but even the east bay hills and around the peninsula will have to watch out for those very dry conditions. The other thing were watching is a major storm out here in the pacific. It is fanning the waves towards the bay area. Well see the impact coming up. Sending a long swell to the coast. If youre on the coast heading into thursday, watch out for this High Surf Advisory. We could see breakers up to to 20 feet and possibly with the dom com by nation of offshore winds an dry conditions, this is the conditions you want to see possibly for mavericks as those waves come in out of the west and hit those and get you the perfect surf conditions with clear skies and big waves coming to the coast, but if youre not one of those international surfers, stay away from the coastline. So, for tomorrow, highs again near 70 degrees. Still no sign of rain at least in the first half of the sevenday forecast. Youll notice temperatures staying warm. No rain just yet. Peninsula temperatures in the upper 60s. Close to record territory again and look at the north bay. Were starting to warm up.
