Now, this decision by President Trump is a little over a year after the pentagon under the Obama Administration ended the ban on transgender people serving openly in the u. S. Military. Pentagon officials told the ap back in june that roughly 250 Service Members applied to change their gender in the militarys personnel system. I had the chance to speak with alberto landers of the lbgt center of San Francisco about the ramifications of this mornings news. What are they going to do . Theyre supposed to be defending our country, theyre supposed to be in the front lines, really focusing on this. Now theres such a distraction and it really doesnt allow them to do that. This is posted on the department of defense website and it provides more insight into this topic were talking about this morning where transgender people in the military now report that there are between 1300 and 6600 active transgender military in the service as we speak. Potentially. 1 would need transgender affiliated health care, and the cost would be minim minimal, only 2. 4 to 8. 4 million annually. I did have a chance to go to the departments website a while ago. It looks like there are no changes to the policy as we speak, so it still leaves Unanswered Questions to those that could potentially be affected. Pete suratos, nbc news. Police are urging you to take Public Transit when you can. Caltrans will be running extra trains. If you must get here, arrive three hours early. The police cannot run the counterflow traffic patterns after the game like they do in the football season. Counterflow is when they turn all the lanes of traffic into one direction. Happening today a fourth suspect is now linked to the brutal killing of an elderly san jose woman who is going to face a judge in about an hour from now. The Sheriffs Department arrested 19yearold johnny brown yesterday into the connection of the robbery and beating that led to the death of 90yearold flo davis. She was loved in the community. Many just called her miss flo. She died after being attacked inside her own home. Right now Belmont Police are looking for a man in a bold restaurant break. This is some Surveillance Video that shows that man riding his bike outside. He puts that down, then uses a chair to crash his way, smash his way inside the restaurant. This happened about a week ago in a restaurant on El Camino Real just about 11 00 in the morning. You can see cars going in the background. Apparently no one called 911. Police said the man did check out the cash register. It was empty so he ended up taking nothing from the restaurant. If you know who he is, please contact Belmont Police. We did our own look at recent crime numbers in belmont. We ended up counting about 20 thefts reported by Belmont Police since july 1st. At the same time that restaurant breakin we just showed you is belmonts only reported burglary. Over the same time last year, Belmont Police reported three burglaries. Happening now, the trial started for the man accused of shooting and killing an east bay police officer. Robert vega is charged with killing offduty Richmond Police officer gus vegas during a domestic dispute. Vega, the suspect, had a son with the officers daughter. The shooting happened at the officers home in vallejo. Vega pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity last year. The driver who lifestreamed a deadly shooting is due in court. She lost control of her car last friday. After the crash, she continued to livestream even saying, quote, she knew they was going to jail. Her 14yearold sister was in the car and she died also on camera. A second 14yearold girl also in the car was seriously injured. Sanchez faces vehicular manslaughter and dui charges. A followup now to a story we first broke last week. A young man in oakland indicted by the feds for terrorism charges. A woman considers herself not brave, just organized. When flooding hit san jose, this is just what she needed. Ever since coyote creek flooded six months ago, theres been a lot of blame to go around. There hasnt been a lot of praise, however. For deb cramer, its needed. For the past year, organizing cleanups to keep coyote creek beautiful. Deb has relied heavily on lists. Checklists to make sure she has the equipment she needs. Ifr have a team of leaders. Reporter email lists to make sure she has the volunteers to do the job. Deb knows the power of them to get her day job done but had no idea what her lists could mean in a disaster. Not until, that is, there was one. On february 21st, coyote creek overflowed its banks, flooding homes, neighborhoods and parks. The very next day deb went down to the creek she knows so well to survey the damage. And was stunned by what she saw. Thats when it was like, okay. So i called the Mayors Office and i said, hey, paul. Im here. Let me know if you want any help. Reporter paul pereira is with the city of san jose and had worked with deb in the past, so he knew she could help. But even he was surprised just how much. Were beyond grateful. Its just i dont think i can ever thank her enough. So we dont have to worry about that. Reporter within a matter of days, deb provided a checklist of equipment she would need from the city and then she tapped her list of willing volunteers. Over the course of four days, we had about 1200 volunteers just to go into three neighborhoods. Reporter and over the next three days, another 800. Thats 2,000 volunteers in just seven days. They went into homes and down to the creek, going a long way to returning life to normal along its banks. There you go. You got a pair. Reporter deb is quick to deflect any praise, saying shes simply a good organizer. Others, though, are more generous, believing on the list of people the city has to thank. Deb should be right near the top. Even though the worst of the flooding is long in the past, deb says the impacts of the creek are still lingering.
