San Francisco Police today are promising the first of a series of crackdowns on unsafe cyclists. The department has apparently identified sections in the city with abnormally high rates of accidents involving cyclists and pedestrians. Oakland airport getting 7 million from the federal aviation administration, a grant thats meant to improve infrastructure, safety and security. San jose is booming with construction cranes everywhere you look in the downtown area, but many workers say theyre being left out of that prosperity. A lot of that building not necessarily affordable housing. Some laid down their tools to carry out protester signs against developers who arent hiring local labor. Silvery towers is a public project on private property which means a developer is free to hire workers from anywhere. They would rather bring in people from out of the area and pay them substandard wages to develop their project. All these people are going to do is take their money and go back home. Reporter the labor council, Building Trade Council and other prolabor groups announced plans for an initiative to require san jose residential and commercial Development Projects hire local workers and pay what they call a familysustainable wage. The group is pointing to a poll by amc research which they paid for that shows that 76 of south bay voters are on their side.
