This comes months after the violent protests a couple of months ago with Milo Yiannopoulos when he had a scheduled appearance at the campus leading to violent protests. I spoke with organizers here today about why it is important to be here. I want to point out many are from out of state, but i also had a chance to speak with berkeley locals who say that the out oftowners are not a representation of the city. To protect free speak. We were here on the 15th and doe fended the speaker and audience that was here. We are here to try to do it again. If she wants to come can down today, we want to make it as safely as possible. The mercury news obtained documents tied to that suit, and those documents claim that wells fargo workers were ordered to fan out into neighborhoods that had high numbers of undocumented immigrants and then coax them into opening checking accounts. Employees oped more than two million accounts without customers permission. The bank calls the allegations inconsistent with its policies. Frustrated san jose flood victims right now going headtohead with their elected officials. Thats happening tomorrow. At issue are millions of dollars in your tax money that were supposed to help better protect that area from flooding. So what happened . Investigative reporter has been looking into that. Our reporting last month also revealed that the Water District now wants to redo some of those multimillion dollar plans that it already put together. The district hopes to come up with alternative options that could provide better flood protection at a cheaper price. A wave of rock and dirt came down on highway 101 in Mendocino County yesterday, and we can only imagine what it was like for the driver who was getting this video on her cellphone. This happened on highway 101 just north of the town of l leggett. That is where construction workers closed the highway last night because it was unstable, and with little time to spare. You can see at one point the workers are actually running toward people down the highway, trying to run them to stay back. Yeah, that was shot by wendy byrd, and you could hear her screaming in the background, oh my god, as she was watching it all unfold. To see it in person is probably surreal. Right. We see those little mud slides or land slides along highway 17 after they happen generally, but i dont know what it would be like to watch that. I mean it is not that big. We are heading into the mid to upper 70s for many of the inland spots. San francisco is going to see a high of 64. Palo alto 70 degrees. It will be warmer today than it was yesterday, and just lost that camera view but lets take a look at the temperature trend for palo alto as we will see those temperatures reaching into the upper 60s to low 70s throughout the day. At noon time when the parade starts it will be 68 degrees, and it continues to rm what up from there. A brawl in a School Cafeteria ended with serious injuries for an east bay teen. Reporter tonight students and parents still reacting from a fight monday outside around lunch time at Granada High School. She had a thing against the other girl and it got pretty gad really fast. One girl allegedly started punching another girl. The victim hit her head on the ground and started convulsing, sent to the hospital with serious injuries. The School District says the large crowd around the fight was standing there filming it. One student who wasnt there recalls the announcement the next day. If we were told how serious this was and how we were told to not post anything on social media. Kids should not videotape things like this. They should be more responsible with social media. Reporter in a letter to students and staff, the principal wrote in part, while the circumstances of the since dent were heinous, what is equally disturbing is the reaction some people have had about it. Police arrested a man in fairfield forex posing himself at a bus stop, and those investigators say he had proof on him that it wasnt the first time. 25yearold enrique senserros was spotted by two 13yearold girls for committing a lewd act yesterday. Police arrested him after a brief chase. When they stopped him they found he was on probation for committing lewd acts before, and in a search of his cellphone they found Video Evidence that he had been recording himself performing other lewd acts at various locations in fairfield. Broken hearted for sure. Now a south bay woman on a mission to try toco reclaim her most prized possession, her wedding ring which thieves grabbed out of her car during a breakin recently. Carrie perez in morgan hill was running in the rock and roll Half Marathon in San Francisco a few weeks ago. When she returned to her car on golden gate avenue near franklin she found, as you can see, the back of the car smashed out and several bags inside gone, including her ring. Senior Investigative Reporter vickie wynn is here with a look at tonights story. Reporter imagine being secretly recorded in a private moment by someone you work with. It happened to this bay area woman. She taurnd to us for help after discovering a hidden camera in the ladys room at her company. We found this is happening more often because cameras have gotten better, smaller and cheaper. This woman called police after a he coworker found a tiny camera stuck to the paper towel dispenser. She was first stunned by the camera. Then shocked by the Police Response. I feel really, really disappointed. Reporter do you think your officer could have done a more thorough investigation . Right now to a story we first reported on today in the bay earlier this week. It is a p positive lar late night spot right near the san jose campus, at east san carlos and 4th street and the scene of a violent beating last night. Surveillance video showing a woman attacked by a squad of other women. Here is Michelle Roberts with more. We try to go in groups. Reporter some san jose students say theyll take extra precautions at night after hearing about a brutal attack caught on camera. It broke out out side jack in the box. People are just coming to cause problems and, you know, it is bad for business. Reporter the owner of la victoria taqueria installed several surveillance cameras pointing at jack in the box parking lot next door following a recent stoot shooting in the area. This happened at 1 30 this morning. The victim appears to be the woman in the dark clothing. You can see several other women throwing punches and police say at least one of the attackers was using a bottle as a weapon. About a minute into the attack someone throws the woman to the ground behind the wall and several of them start kicking her. The victim was able to get up and walk into the jack in the box. Police showed up soon after but the suspects had already taken off. We cant prevent it but we can at least help and, you know, helping them catch the person and prosecuting them and send a message. Reporter well, he hopes this video will help police track down the women responsible. Many students tell us they no longer feel safe on campus or in downtown san jose at night. It is really sad to hear, but im kind of used to hearing incidents like that which is really sad in itself. Developing in sacramento, authorities are looking for the man who randomly attacked two women, killing one of them with his bare hands. Neighbors say the two women were on their daily walk yesterday morning on a dirt track at the local high school. One woman in her 80s is the one who died of her injuries. The other woman in her 60s is still in the hospital. That victims daughter spoke at the scene. Every tay they come you to walk, every day they come to walk. But, you know, things happen. It appears to be just body weapons, hands and feet that were used. The attacker jumped a fence after that savage attack and just ran out. Investigators have not determined any sort of deeper motive. Well, a former San Francisco reverend who is the first openly gay bishop for the United Methodist church would soon lose her title. She was elected bishop last summer. She was previously a reverend at glide church in San Francisco. But this week the methodist churchs highest court heard arguments that could overturn her election because of a formal complaint that was lodged. In 1972 the church added language barring openly gay clergy. She says she has received 18 letters from people who are opposed to her serving as a bishop, but she has also received hundreds of letters of support, too. Im glad it always says first openly gay bishop because im not the first gay bishop. There have been other gay bishop, there have been other gay clergy but they had to serve in silence. Kristina thompson received an alert her credit score dropped last may. After digging around she found a delinquent loan on her Credit Report with a balance of 2900, but kristina said the account wasnt hers. She contacted the lender, net credit financial. They insisted that the loan was christinas. Now, she said she did everything she could think of to prove otherwise. She turned over her Bank Statements to show she never received funds from them. She even filed a police report, but net credit financial didnt budge. It even turned her over to a debt collector. Late fees and penalties later pushed the balance up to 3200. So christina asked us to call net credit financial. We did, and it removed the loan from her Credit Report. It also called off the debt collector. The company said it linked the error to fraudulent activity, not a mistake it made. It said in the statement that it is sorry that ms. Thompson was targeted by these criminals. Net credit takes seriously the responsibility to prevent, combat and investigate fraud. Fremont camera in the east bay shows 63 degrees with sunshine. We are heading into the low 70s today in the south bay. Up to 74 in morgan hill. For the east bay were at 72 degrees. In danville, concord up to 76 degrees there, and livermore expect a high of 71 degrees. The peninsula will be cool along the coast half. Moon bay will only make it up to 59 degrees, but then you get on the other side of the hills and were into the upper 60s to low 70s, 70 today in palo alto. Reporter abalone divers along the coast of Northern California risking life and limb to hall in these strange snails known as red abalone. People have been free diving for these forever. Reporter the future of this delicacy is as turbulent as the ocean. Thats because the ocean is changing. A lot of the scientific models show things are going to change very quickly in Northern California. Reporter Scientists Say ocean acid levels are slowly rising because of pollution, and in some places theyve already impacted red abalone population. Theyre smaller, theyre developing more slower. Pretty cool. Super tiny. Little cows of the sea. Reporter inside the bo dag bodega marine laboratory. We have abed 300 baby abalone. Reporter the tiny specks are babies. Thats them. Like bread crumbs. Reporter the researchers says the group is experimenting raising them in present ocean day conditions as well as the kind of conditions predicted in the next 40 years. Kind of a time machine where were going into the future. Our medium size class. They can move pretty quickly. Reporter some marine areas with higher acid levels have seen the populations wiped out, at the same time some abalone in those same conditions have done just fine. Some genetic diversity where some families dont do as badly as others. This is all of the new growth. Reporter because of declining numbers, california wildlife managers shortened this years recreational abalone diving season by two months. It is of interest to preserve the populations that are still doing well. Reporter the Scientists Say one possibility is raising populations of abalone that have shown a resistance to rising acidity. They may not be the prettiest critters in the ocean, but on a restaurant table theyre some of the most expensive. Not only mysterious, but pretty tasty as well.
