Testimony continues right now for the three santa clara jail cards accused in the beating death of michael tyree. The medical examiner testified yesterday about the sorts of injury tyree suffered in his cell before dying in 20. Initially the car gave him a midsized car but douglas says an agent offered to upgrade him to a fullsized car. He said he didnt think anything about the swap until he got his credit card bill which revealed a 70 upgrade free. He called ent price and was told he agreed to it and enterprise credited his account 70. Were done here, right . Wrong. Two days later enterprise again charged him 70. Enterprise then agreed to reverse the new charges but douglas says that never happened. So he asked us to step in. We contacted enterprise and refunded douglas his 70. We do have a very weak weather system well to the north of us, and it looks like thats where the rain will stay. Looking at the hour by hour forecast, mostly cloudy skies and some peeks of sunshine, too. Were going to have a slight chance of rain in the north bay, but overall it looks like most of us do stay dry and mostly cloudy. This is the pattern weve seen, but it does change by tomorrow night. Were actually talking about the actual pool. A new study came out of canada confirming our worst fears about how much urine is in the pool. You know thats the fear thats in the pack of your mind every time you jump into a pool. Nbcs jeff rossen pulls out the test kick to find out how much is in there. I dont want to know, jeff. Reporter its almost pool time. Fun for kids. And adults, too. But do you know whats really lurking underneath . Researchers in canada testing 21 pools and hot tubs. The results, urine in every single one. On average eight gallons worth in a typical sized pool, but before you go judging, check out olympian Michael Phelps talking to the wall street journal. I think everybody peas in the pool. Its kind of just a normal thing to do. Reporter okay. So you may want to avoid swimming with olympians but what about the pool on your next vacation . The kiddie pool testing positive for urea, a key compound found in urine. How about the water park wave pool, not any better. Pee here, too. But come on, they are full of kids. With a about hotel pools . Mostly adults relaxing here. Will they do better . Reporter another pool. Another sample. Nope. So we try another hotel pool. And another. All three have pee. We share our results with nbc medical correspondent dr. John torres. I always thought chlorine kills this stuff. It doesnt kill the urine and the chlorine smell you get at the pool its the chlorine mixed with the urine. Reporter this is my horrified face. Obviously this is gross, but are there really any health risks . When the urine mixes with the chlorine it makes two chemicals which can irritate your eyes and irritate your lungs and your skin. You wouldnt even know where thats coming from. Reporter but hang on. We have one big category left, hot tubs. Notorious breeding grounds for germs and bacteria. But weve never tested for pee before. Everyone loves the hot tub, but will you still when the results come in . Reporter bad news. We test two hot tubs and both have urine. In the end from the water park to the hot tubs and pools we tested, only one, yes just one, came back peefree. What are we supposed to do. The main thing is dont pee in the pool. According to a recent study 64 of americans admit to urinating in the pool and only way to get rid of it by emptying out all the water and refilling it and much easier to get out and find a bathroom.
