Reporter definitely a challenge for those fire crew. They didnt give me an update as far as the condition of the victim that was inside and there is also no zaj to nearby structures. I am being told investigators will remain on the scene until they determine exactly what the cause of this fire was. Were live in San Francisco. Pete, nbc bay area news. Thank you very much, pete. The other big story tonight we will have some freezing temperatures for the inland valley. 32 degrees will be the low in liver moore, 34 in fremont. Thats where we will have some patchy frost if you are just above freezing and now some freeze warnings have been issued for all of these areas shaded in purple from 3 00 to 9 00 in the morning. Were also tracking that next big storm that will be moving in. A lot of moisture will be streaming into the bay area starting out on saturday morning. Ill give you a better idea of the time line and what you can expect. Its coming up a little bit later. Kari, thank you very much. The rains are filling up bay area reservoirs, some of them actually are past capacity at this point. That sound like good news. It is bad news, though, for some folks who live nearby. One trailer park is warning its residents they might have to evacuate very soon. Joining us live from the uvas resz vor in morgan hill, you talked to a person who has already left saying they dont want to take a chance. Reporter thats right, sam. Weve soon a lot of people come out here to check out the water levels here at the uvas reservoir. You can see its a beautiful sight. It is 100 full. There is concern the residents tell me here that theyre very nervous. This is why. Just down the uvas reservoir, residents at the 1,000 trails rv park have been put on alert. They 345i6may have to evacuate weekend if there is flooding. We talked to one visitor who is packed up heading back to los angeles. Talking about short notice so we dont want to wait in the middle of the night to get that notice to evac. They said the bridge level for the water might be too high for us to cross and they dont want to wait that far. Reporter and, so, theyre taking no chances here. Again, a lot of the local reservoirs are close to 100 full, at capacity, and so this weekend storm is definitely cause for concern. You are being told to, if you live in the flood prone areas, be prepared. Take the next couple days while its dry to stock up on batteries and food and water and not travel if you dont have to because it could get very bad out on the roadways this weekend. Reporting live in morgan hill im sharon, nbc bay area news. Thanks a lot, sharon. Speaking of the roadways this morning, were getting ready for the major storm expected to hit the bay area here this weekend. A lot of snow up in the sierra. The wip ter weather has already created some problems up there. Our crews in fact were there last night when interstate 80 was shut down completely stranding drivers. It has since reopened this morning. People are traveling through. Nbcs brian hickey is off interstate 80 for us. Reporter traffic is moving again after interstate 80 was shut down for much of yesterday and well overnight. They finally got it open. 1 45 this morning they started allowing passenger cars and big rigs to make their way back over Donner Summit as cal trans needed that extra time to literally dig out the freeway. Looks can be deceiving. I stepped out an hour ago. This was earlier. Its not going to warm up very much as we go through the day. In fact, it gets very cold tonight with some freezing temperatures before this next storm system moves in. So, now as we try to get things ready, once again i talked about clearing out the storm drains, making sure the gutters are all clear, we are dealing with some chilled temperatures. So, bundle up as we have seen some cold air moving in behind that wet weather system that rolled out of here late last night. Its 50 degrees in san jose, palo alto, oakland and San Francisco, and in santa rose a it is now 44 degrees. As we get ready for this next storm system to move in, weve powered up our storm ranger, still scanning around the bay area. This is the red beam. This is the Doppler Radar truck. We have it in san bruno, not picking up on anything right now, but once again it will be in action this weekend as we will have quite a bit of rain moving in, some very significant storm system we are expecting. As of now dry air moving in, a little bit of a break and a chance to get ready for some heavy rain this weekend. The center of the storm is set to move in sunday. So, still looking at some very active weather and the rain begins early saturday morning. We see the rain getting heavier, the winds picking up on sunday and it will be with us all throughout the day, some of the heavy est rain may be over the south bay and over the Santa Cruz Mountains. Early next week there is more rain set to move in between tuesday and wednesday so only a small break on monday. Rainfall totals may reach in some spots over five, possibly close to 6 inches in the Santa Cruz Mountains. And then for spots like fremont and hayward, over toward walnut creek, two to 3 inches of rain, maybe even four, so, this looks like quite a bit of some heavy rain. While we get the rain, theyre going to get some snow in the sierra. Unfortunately it wont be the ideal storm for them because rain will be mixing in. Right now its 25 degrees at north star. The skiers are not joying some fresh powder on the ground. There is a lot of it. Looking at the model for what to expect as we go into the next few days, possibly measuring snow fall in the amount of feet, and then there is going to be some rain on top of that. So, how are we doing as far as the drought . Weve seen this improving for most of the bay area, especially along the coast line where the drought status has been removed. Weve been taken out of the drought for San Francisco up to santa rose a and the Santa Cruz Mountains. But there is still abnormally dry conditions in these areas shaded in yellow just to the west of san jose and extending up toward vallejo. And then for the inland areas from fairfield down to parts of the south bay and the trivalley, a moderate to severe drought. And once again, that storm system moving in this weekend will bring in quite a bit of some significant rain that may help to improve our status, but we need it slow and steady, not all at once. And as you can see, by the middle of next week we still have some rain in the forecast. So, a lot more where that came from. Of course, ill keep you up to date. Ill talk more about what to expect in the time line of that rainfall. Its coming up a little bit later. Sam and laura . We look forward to that. Thanks a lot, kari.
