Nbc bay area has learned this man, eric aspen is in custody in connection with the alleged counterfeit operation. Nbc bay area has learned that he will be charged for locally counterfeiting. Sources say the operation involved hundreds of thousands of dollars. The arrest is apparently the culmination of monthslong joint investigation headed by the Sheriffs Department and virginia authorities. The News Conference is scheduled for 1 00 this afternoon. Another story that weve within following, the family of a man killed in a hitandrun this week hope that new information from investigators will reenergize the search for the driver who left him for dead. Still no major developments and with time passing and no major developments, it gets harder for the family of the victim, who is 27yearold scott glassner. His brother having this message, please come forward so we can move on from this difficult chapter in scotts life. The 27yearold did suffer from severe autism, was living in a nearby care facility when he wandered off just after checkup. At 1 35 monday morning the 911 calls began. First from the care home who saw him missing and then someone who saw him running and then a driver saw he or she saw glassner drying on the road. Was able to avoid him but reported the next driver hit glassner and continued southbound. It was unclear why he was on the ground. The evidence shows there was no collision with any other vehicle before this hitandrun. Police say right now this is a Homicide Investigation but they understand this may have been nothing more than an accident. The area where the collision occurred is extremely dark this time of night. Speet limit is 50 miles an hour. Its entirely reasonable that following another vehicle they may have never seen what they hit. Its also an area frequented by animals and oftentimes you could hit a deer or other animal up there. Again, its not possible without talking to this person that thats the case and thats why wed like to hear from him. This is the kind of car San Bruno Police are looking for. A developing story now in the desperate search for a San Francisco toddler continuing to expand. 2yearold ariana fitts and her mother were reported missing. A few days later nicoles body was found. Meantime, a Family Resource center in the city that worked with nicole is speaking out. Nicole used that center for parenting classes. She had done everything that she could to take care of herself. She was a lovely person. She was liked by everybody who worked with her. Friends of nicole are planning a vigil at mclaren park for later today. In less than an hour, San Francisco police are holding a town hall meeting to discuss the latest Deadly Police shooting. Police shot luis gongora last thursday. Officers say he refused to drop a knife and came towards officers, forcing them to open fire. However, there are conflicting reports. Some witnesses say gongora was not wielding a knife when he was shot. The town hall is going on right now at the Union Local Hall on 18th street. Antiochs mayor turns out in the right place at the right time. He called 911 after seeing a city councilmembers car get sideswiped. Lets check the forecast with meteorologist kari hall. Yes, beautiful weather. Taking a look at ocean beach, it looks like a perfect beach day, even though temperatures arent reallyhat warm. Compare it to yesterday at this time, we are seeing a lot of clouds. Now it has cleared out but were also getting ready for some rain. This is the storm system that will bring us our next chance of rain. It starts late tonight in the north bay and the rest of the bay area sees it later so we have several hours to enjoy the sun. A look at these temperatures making it into the lower 60s. Its 60 in San Francisco and 60 in the north bay. As we drop in on the south bay, 61 degrees downtown sand sand sa up to 69 degrees. A lot of sports between midday and later on this evening. This one starts earlier in the day at 12 35 and it will be 63 degrees. Up to 65 degrees under all that sunshine, nice and breezy by the end of the game, 64. And a look at all the microclimates. Our highs today reaching the mid to upper 60s and some 50s along the immediate coast. In fremont today expect a high of 68 degrees. The sevenday forecast is at the bottom of the screen. We will have some rain in the forecast tomorrow and then this weekend temperatures start to ramp up. This area of low pressure will still pass well to the north of us. Well be on the outer fringes of this and giving us some rain. As it moves through those showers will be weakening as they move from north to south. Then as High Pressure moves in, it moves that area of low pressure out of the way. Our temperatures ramp up. Thats a fairly strong area of High Pressure, meaning our temperatures will be going up as it forces our onshore flow. Looking at the rain tonight, this is the futurecast that shows what the radar could look like. When we see the greens, it shows there will be some light rain. Thats mostly what we will see. The yellows, a little more intense of a downpour moving into San Francisco by 4 00 or 5 00 in the morning. The south bayeeing it before the morning commute and a couple of leftover showers possible for the early part of the day in the north bay. Not a lot of rain with this system so maybe some trace amounts for the south bay. As you go towards the north bay, up to a quarter of an inch of rain as this system passes. In the sierra, also some light snow going on there. A couple of inches possible for those higher elevations, maybe just enough to make the roads slick. Reporter surely everyone across the bay area saw or heard illegal fireworks last july 4th or in the days and weeks surrounding it. It was worse than what i expected. Reporter but not many witnessed the effects, like Rita Martinez in south san jose. 51 years living here and ive never seen it this bad. He was wetting down, hosing down his fence. Reporter she lives across from a home gutted by fire last july 4th. Investigators say a neighbors illegal fireworks landed on the house sparking the fire. That house was just engulfed. At that point there was still fireworks shooting off. Reporter after promising to crack down on fireworks last year, city leaders took it a step further passing a pilot program. Starting july 1st people will be able to post pictures and video of illegal firework activity to a city website, meaning you can turn in your neighbors. Were seeing more and more of it more widespread across the city. Reporter it also allows Code Enforcement officers to write tickets from witness accounts helping the already stretched fire and Police Departments. Were dealing with calls on a priority basis. Its hard to make it out to some of these calls. Reporter the first offense will cost you 500, ranging up to 1,000 for a third offense in one year. Rita martinez just hopes city leader promises will be enough, this time. And if this pilot line does work, then great. Then they did their job and im happy. A new flight will take passengers fm san jose directly to shanghai. San jose airport has added another international destination, its fifth year in a row of doing that. Air china has received approval from federal regulators to fly to shanghai starting in june. Reporter supporters cheered at the unanimous vote after they told their story one by one, including this woman who identified herself as casey. I now think of myself as having been groomed who what was to take place in 1996 when i was sexually assaulted by bill cosby in bellaire, california. He endeared himself to me, when he gained my trust he trafficked me and slipped drugs into my blood and raped me. Reporter the legislation to limit the statute of limitations. Its sponsor says theres no statute of limitations on emotional scars. No one is ever raped by accident. It is intentional and it harms these victims. Reporter bill cosby has repeatedly proclaimed his innocence, despite sexual abuse allegations made by dozens of women since the 1960s. But critics of the legislation think memories get hazy with time and make fair trials less likely. This is a disastrous piece of legislation. The problem is we already have right now people who are factually innocent and yet they are accused and convicted at alarming rates. Interestingly the aclu opposes this bill saying that memories and evidence fade, making it tougher for suspects to defend themselves. Nevadas statute is now 20 years. Similar bills are pending in colorado and in oregon. More possible victims are being interviewed as police find a disturbing pattern related to a personal trainer investigated for molesting his customers. David wolfsmith was arrested tuesday outside his wolfpack gym in morgan hill. Detectives say they have identified five victims so far, three adults and two minors. Theyre talking to additional women who have now come forward. Police say the women and girls tell remarkably similar accounts of what happened. They were so focused on their goals, either in triathlete or cycling or racing that that became the focus, so he was able to utilize their focus on the training to commit the sexual batteries. Investigators say all the cases happened at the gym during fitness and workout sessions. A followup now on the investigation into the death of a young scientist shot and killed while walking home from a neighborhood pub. Oakland police are talking to people who saw a suspicious person running away from the area where brian bolle was killed. Theyre tracing the steps he took late saturday night. He was found shot to death just after midnight on sunday. This happened in the area of richmond boulevard and frisbee street. Neighbors are keeping candles lit at that site where he was killed. Anybody with information, you know, whether its just the victim, last seeing the victim, or a possible person who raises your suspicion to the area, thats the information that we need to get. I just moved here so it makes me keep my guard up even more and just hope that we can find the guy who did this. One woman even explains to police at least on a neighborhood website that she was approached by a man that she thought was waving a gun that night. Today a San Francisco political consultant will be back in court. Ryan chamberlin is expected to change his plea. Just last week he struck a deal saying hes guilty. He led the fbi on a threeday manhunt after investigators found bombmaking chemicals in his knob hill apartment. A manhunt continuing for 43yearold brian hill. Whos wanted for attempted murder on a peace officer. Contra costa county deputies tried to pull him over. He ran off and jumped into a silver prius. When deputies tried to get hill out of the car, he tried to run them over. Hill got away and the prius was later found in oakland. A scathing review of the Santa Clara County jail says the system is broken and needs immediate reform that. From a Blue Ribbon Commission that compared the correctional system to a plane thats crashed because of pilot error. The Commission Recommends new leadership. Santa clara board of supervisors accepted the commissions report yesterday but have not said if they are going to use any of those recommendations moving forward. An oakland Bank Employee says not on their sidewalk. They dont want a bus stop relocated right in front of their bank. People who live in this section of broadway hadnt had it for months. They want to relocate it in front of a summit bank but Bank Employees say its a safety risk. Its not a good idea to have a bus stop directly in front of a bank. That implies that somehow people who ride buses are danger sglous people packed a City Committee meeting to sound off about the concerns but they agreed that the return of the broadway stop is crucial. A City Engineer says it will likely take several months to put the bus stop back in. Bank employees say they will continue to fight it. She has a place to stay, for now. A 99yearold woman facing eviction from her San Francisco apartment can stay at home. A judge granted a stay in that case yesterday, allowing iris canada to remain in the unit at least another week. Shes called the Western Addition apartment home for 57 years. Canada says she was granted a lifetime lease back in 2002 but the owners of the building claim that lease is no longer valid. They say canada hasnt lived there for some time and has instead been staying with relatives in oakland. Both sides head back to court next week. Raiders moving to sin city . International news now. More flights cancelled today at the brussels airport. The airport is now dealing with an air Traffic Controller strike. A savvy 72yearold woman survives nine days alone in the woods. She had no food, no water, no direction. Nbcs Steve Patterson explains what led to her rescue. Reporter home after a harrowing journey. Rescuers say rodgers was on her way to visit grandkids in phoenix. Along the way she got off track driving a remote road near the apache state forest and ran out of gas. Reporter rescuers say ann and queenie endured nine hot days and freezing nights in rugged, dangerous terrain, building bonfires to stay warm and this plea for help made of sticks, rocks and bones finally spotted from the air and tracked from the ground. So it gave us a direction to travel. Reporter leading right to rodgers, rescued practically unharmed. It almost puts you in awe. Its amazing that she survived this because the longer youre out there, the probabilities of you surviving are less. Reporter nonsense, to 98 pounds of pure determination who admits for a moment she thought about quitting. And then i thought, nah, i aint giving up yet. A european vacation turning into a lifechanging opportunity. I wanted to be above borders, above religion, above all else. How one couple turned what they found on the beach into a way to help refugees. Its a story that will make you bay area proud. Rain is well to the north of us and will be here in the bay area overnight. Ill detail that and well look ahead to the weekend coming up. From selfish to selfless. That is what ended up being the unexpected itinerary for a San Francisco couple on their recent european vacation. The one they took to recharge and destress after xanders latest startup went belly up. I had my soul ripped out of my chest. Syrian refugees by the thousands risking their lives to come to europe. Xander and zoe couldnt take their eyes off it. We spent our days instead of laying on the beach, we would be in our hotel room doing research looking at more and learning more about the war and whats happening. Before we realized it, we were spending all of our days doing this. I was like lets just get out there. Reporter so the pair flew to lesbos to volunteer, welcoming and warming those who had survived the dangerous sea journey. Still, they wanted to do even more. But just how . Well, the answer to that was just laying at their feet. Literally. Its incredible. Reporter the thousands upon thousands of discarded life vests the refugees had used but no longer needed were everywhere. Upon flying into that island, you could see the entire island just all the shores just filled with bright orange. Reporter it was zoe who came up with the idea to upcycle the vest using local seam stresses who are sewing the material into wristbands. Thousands have been made already and the wear will start selling them online next week to raise money for the ongoing humanitarian effort. I wanted this to be a stance of humanity above borders, above religion, above all up. Reporter their hope is that these bands will help buyers make an emotional connection to those who once wore this material, and what refugees once relied on to save their lives perhaps will come full circle and help them once again. Zoe and xander say one of the things they discovered when investigating the life vests that many of them werent flotation devices and actually acted like sponges, making the journey more dangerous for the refugees. As we go into the next hour or so, were getting ready for the as game to kick off. It will be 65 at the fifth inning, beautiful weather for baseball. Also great weather for some basketball too. A little more breezy today with the approach of a weather system moving in, but nice, quiet, calm weather, into the upper 50s right along the coast and upper 60s inland. These temperatures right before they should be for the middle of april and then we get ready for some changes. It starts out with this area of low pressure that brings in some scattered showers tonight but it does pass well to the north of us so we wont get any strong downpours or heavy downpours. As this area of High Pressure moves in, our winds will pick up as we transition from low to High Pressure. The thermometer will be rising by tomorrow afternoon. A look at the forecast and this is what the radar could look like. It shows some scattered showers. When we see the green, that shows light rain, yellows indicate a little bit more of a heavier downpour, but much of that does weaken as it moves into San Francisco by 3 00 in the morning. The south bay shortly before the main morning commute, just enough to make those roads wet and scattered showers may linger while the rest of the area dries out with gusty winds. Engineers used 48,000 solar panels apparently arranged like a giant mickey mouse to make the solar plant in the shape of the famous mouse. It takes up 22 acres, its located near epcot center. That solar plant is going to also power the four seasons resort and a few other hotels nearby as well. Quite the way to make the statement there.
