Meets highway 237. Bob redell is live there. The work has stopped at the construction site. What do we know about the site . Reporter you can see why the work has stopped. A large portion of the crane is perched, resting on the corner of the Office Building that is under construction. Its just too dangerous to work near or underneath it. As you look to the left you can see how close the other section of the crane came to the Office Complex nextdoor that houses Dell Computer and a Company Called horton works. It missed those offices by about 20 to 30 feet. South bay construction, which is building the new sixstory Office Complex here at the Stadium Tech Center tells us that the crane fell at around 6 30 this morning. They are still looking into the cause. A worker on site wondered to us off camera if the crane operator had pulled the crane arm back too far to the point where it lost its balance and crumpled backwards over the cab. No one was hurt. Its a blessing it didnt fall later in the morning because it came to rest on a grassy walkway that users use to get in and out of their jobs at dell and horton works. You can imagine if someone was walking where the large piece of steel crashed down. I just watched the crane sway in the wind and sometimes you have to shut it down because its a little too windy up there. Reporter when you see the crane on the ground now, collapsed, you know maybe 20, 30 feet away from your Office Building, what are your thoughts . Im going to pay more attention on where the crane is positioned every day, more than i used to in the past, especially when the crane is positioned on top of the ramp here. Its a lot closer. Reporter its not clear what role, if any, the wind played in this mornings accident. Inspectors with the city and Fire Department visited the site to assess the accident and you can see right now theyve just brought out another crane and its under stood theyll be using that to get the one that failed this morning. You can imagine the idea is to have this removed by the end of today. Reporting live in santa clara, bob redell nbc bay area news. Could have been a different story. Thanks, bob. Taking something thats really old and maybe not even wanted anymore and transforming it into something thats really going to touch somebodys lives at a really horrible time. That was one of the reasons. Reporter that horrible time is the loss of a child. Allison heard about others across the country who were turning old donated Wedding Dresses into burial gowns for infants. And thought, with the sewing skills her grandmother had taught her, it was something she could do. Most of the angel gowns allison has made she has given to hospitals to use when needed. So she doesnt know who wears them. Thats most but not all. When she was born she was only one pound. 5. 5 ounces. But she was feisty. Reporter desiree and Justin Browns daughter was born four months premature. She survived past her due day, but not much longer. It was a mutual friend who suggested allison make jordan a gown. Within a few days we went to our mailbox and there was a gown for her. To know that my babey girl will be in a beautiful little gown at least in my mind brings comfort. Those tears are why allison often sheds some of her own while making her angel gowns, and she believes will power her sewing machine for years to come. Allison says women give her their Wedding Dresses for all sorts of reasons. Some are now divorced or others who just dont want it hanging around in a closet and want it put to some very good use.
