Baer taking a moment to speak with nbc bay area as he carries the world series trophy from the teams bus at at t park early this morning. The Team Receiving a heros welcome as die hard fans waited to greet the giants, as they arrived home victorious from kansas city. Good morning, everyone, thank you for joining us. Im scott mcgrew. Im laura garciacannon in for kris sanchez. Certainly never gets old to say the giants are world series champs. Look at this, covered from every angle. Preparations for tomorrows big party, to your parade forecast, to traffic. Lets begin with nbc bay areas bob redell at at t park. He was there when the team got back home early this morning. Bob . Reporter good morning to you, scott and laura. Here when the dugout store finally opened at 8 00, you can see it is a mob scene in here, people trying to get the world series champion tshirts. After tuesday nights loss in kansas city, there were a few people who thought the tshirts would never materialize. There were even doubts last night when the royals got the triple in the bottom of the ninth, but Pablo Sandoval did save the game with the foul ball catch, giving fans this morning plenty to celebrate. For the third time in five years, the giants have done the unbelievable, bringing home another world series championship trophy. More than 100 fans cheered on the players as they arrived back at at t after last nights nail biter in kansas city. Hunter pence waved to the crowd, Madison Bumgarner buzzed out almost unnoticed. Not sure where he stashed the mvp trophy. The players too tired to greet the crowd. The plane was giddy, sort of an altered state of happiness and euphoria. Reporter giants ceo larry baer refuses to call the team the word that rolls so easy off the tongue. Dynasty. Reporter a word blasted all over this mornings front page of the chronicle. Fans dropped a dollar for those special editions. Even more for the hottest swag in town, the dugout store opened to a line of fans more than willing to spend 32 on a world series tshirt, 39 for a championship ball cap. Because its historic and its important. Who doesnt want to be here . Were proud. This belongs to you. Its been an amazing run and were not done. Were not done. Lets keep going. A lot of the same players back next year, so its pretty special. Yeah, i want to show you the line to get the tshirts here, a line downstairs, line upstairs. This place got crowded really fast. Its been open now for, what, three hours. Easily been a couple hundred people that have come through here. I just talked to a guy thats walking out with a bag, how much did you spend . Too much, in the 300 range, but left with a smile on his face, so must not have been that unhappy about spending that here. Reporting live in at t park, bob redell, back to you guys. Im a small, just saying, bob. He already got it for you, im sure. He knows the boss. Thanks, bob. Overnight crews got the streets ready for tomorrows big parade. People took to the streets with brooms and shovels. Most of the fans around second and king streets were just happy to be there, but there were some trouble spots. At least two people were shot, one person stabbed in separate events. None of the injuries are life threatening. Several Police Officers also hurt, but again not seriously. Thankfully, all right and lets look ahead now to tomorrow. Nannette miranda live in San Francisco, where preparations are under way for tomorrows big parade. Good morning to you. Reporter good morning. Well, workers say the setup will be done in time. You have to believe them because theyve had practice setting up two other world series victory parades for the San Francisco giants in recent years. Take a look behind me. They are still in the very early stages of the setup. Hopefully theyll be done in time tomorrow. Everythings got to be perfect. More than a Million People are expected. Well, the d word sounds pretty appropriate. Reporter after a night of revelry, the cleanup began at top speed, all in the hopes of getting the giants world series parade route ready for tomorrows festivities. The celebration begins at noon at market and stuart streets, down market, then ending at civic center plaza, so theres not much time. Giants season Ticket Holder scoped out the area and came to the conclusion doesnt matter where you watch it in person. I think its the spirit of it and whom they are with and share it with and just to be proud to be a San Franciscoen. Reporter but before the parade starts, theres so much to do. Its the sudden feeling that companys coming. There are giants banners to be put up at nearly every light post, orange carpets to be rolled out, and the big screen that showed the game last night to thousands of fans has to be broken down and moved. Were going to put this up, stage right, just a little bit. Reporter a new stage is being erected, too, so dignitaries can make speeches. More than a hundred workers are scrambling to make it happen. Security officers are making sure no one gets in the way. After all, the deadline is tight. But with two of the world series parades under their belts, they know how to get it done. I have faith, a lot of people behind the stage, a lot of people there, as well, and, of course, other people coming in through the night and day. Reporter preparations are under way as we speak. Decor in black and orange. Workers there, too, are under the gun to get it done. With more than a million fans expected tomorrow, Public Transit is highly recommended. Also i hope you have orange and black rain gear, because its expected to be a wet one tomorrow. Live in San Francisco, nannette miranda, nbc bay area news. Indeed it is. All right, looks like its going to rain on our parade. Just a tad. Meteorologist Christina Loren has been tracking the system that will hit during the festivities. I think were going to get heavy down pours throughout tomorrow. We could pick up an inch of rain from a single storm system, and its unfortunate the giants didnt win the night before. Remember that tough game, because look at how beautiful it is. Would have had the parade for today. Tomorrow, this is what were working with in terms of the timing of this shower activity. I can tell you right now, 7 00 a. M. Mostly to the north of the golden gate bridge, but at that point rich moise dhur moving in, indicated by yellow and orange. At that point, though, nice and dry, nice and clear from the trivalley all the way through the south bay. Watch what happens. We continue that future cast at 10 00 a. M. People are out there setting up, trying to get spots for the parade in San Francisco. The heaviest moisture starts to come through, and this is going to continue for a good five to six hours. Were talking about some really heavy rainfall totals, but the good news is, for trick or treaters out there and parents, as well, we stop the clock for you on your future cast, getting a little bit of a window, a lull in the showers just in time for trick or treating. But the rain comes back, well talk about that and how much were expecting in just a few moments. Plus, a nice weekend after we get through with the showers. Thats coming up in my next report. Right now, back to you scott and laura. Good, well need a weekend to rest from the festivities. Whats the best way to get to the city tomorrow for the parade . Mike is looking at the best routes. Hey, guys, were still waiting on details for specifics getting to the parade like bart and caltrain, but based on past experience, were going to talk about what you can expect. Now, you can get there from all over the bay and people will go there from all over the bay. From the south bay, use caltrain as your rail up in towards San Francisco. Now, if youre north of fremont on the east bay, you can use the bart system, as well. The availability of cars for those rails is not the problem. Its parking at those stations, so get there early, parkings at a premium. They can add trains, but not parking spaces. Ferry, same thing, they are likely to have ferry service, as well. Embarcadero station all the way down to market street. There are bart and muni stations along that route all underground, so theyll get you through the area with the crowds on the surface underground, but again, expect the crowds into the city, they are going to disperse throughout the morning, but afternoon and evening hours, its going to be a nightmare getting out there. Plan your route out of there and ride back from the station. For now, back to you. Thanks a lot, mike. Matt bums got a new name, mvp. Madison bumgarner carrying the giants on his back really en route to the third world series in the past five years. The official score originally gave him the win, but changed it to a save late last night. No surprise he was named the world series most valuable player. He set a record for most innings pitched in the postseason, 52 2 3 innings. You know what, i cant lie to you anymore, im a little tired now. But relief, excitement combined, and, you know, youre just sitting there trying to figure out if it really just happened, you know, for me. But, you know, it was an awesome experience getting to be out there for the last out of the game seven in the world series. Awesome to watch him in his world Series History dating back to 2010, bumgarners 40 with a. 25 e. R. A. That is the lowest in Major League Baseball history. Former slugger barry bonds celebrating Madison Bumgarner, as well. Bonds posted this on to his twitter account, Madison Bumgarner mvp sfgiants mad bum. Reporter ignoring the request she stay isolated inside her home, this morning nurse kaci hickox rode her bike through maine, following a path she set out on last night. I have not committed to staying in my house and agreeing to an inhouse quarantine that i believe is not scientifically valid. Reporter but state Officials Say its the only way they can make sure their Community Stays safe and are said to be seeking a court order to force hickox to stay inside. I do not understand why this common sense approach to ask someone to stay in their home for 21 days during the incubation period, why that is not a reasonable request. Reporter online, some have called hickox a disgrace to the health field, selfish and self centered, but she argues the quarantine is unnecessary and unconstitutional. I still believe that im fighting for something much more than myself. Reporter without mentioning her situation directly, yesterday at the white house, president obama urged restraint and with ebola survivor dr. Kent brantly at his side, called international aide volunteers heros. They make huge sacrifices to protect this country that we love, and when they come home, they deserve to be treated properly. Apple ceo tim cook has written an article in which he said hes proud to announce he is gay. It is noteworthy, because he is the first major fortune 500 ceo to come out while ceo. You may recall earlier this week, cook spoke out at his induction at the alabama version of the states hall of fame, saying alabama needed to do more to advance the rights of gay citizens. What he did not say at that time was he, himself, was gay, though thats been understood for quite some time. In an article written for bloomberg, cook says, ive come to realize that my desire for personal privacy has been holding me back from doing something more important. That is what has led me to today. He further writes, im proud to be gay and consider gay among the greatest gifts that god has given me. Well, apple pays potential rival is backing off a bit. You recall a coalition of stores like cvs and best buy and others were working on a Payment System before apple pay existed and announced they wouldnt be using apple pay. Well, this morning thats gotten more fuzzy. The Parent Company of the system got hacked, the hack is not terribly relevant, so theres no data to steal, but it was certainly a bit of a black eye. Add to that consumers really like apple pay and these stores are in a bit of a jam. To be fair, they were working on something long before they knew apple was going to create apple pay. They are trying to stick with it, but a lot of pressure not to. Understood. Thank you very much. Founders of whats app own nearly 9 billion in facebook stock, this after they sold earlier this month. Nothing like that in our neck of the woods, but rain headed our way. Today is one to go out there and enjoy, right, christina . Yeah, if you have Outdoor Activities you want to take care of, today is your final day to do so and its warm out there, as well. Good morning, scott, laura, everybody at home. Weve got a big day tomorrow. Even if youre not a giants fan, you might still be a halloween fan. We have showers coming through on one of the days where everybody wants to get outdoors. Were not just talking about light rain, were talking about real rainfall across this big beautiful bay area. I want to start with today, 78 degrees for the south bay, 77 on the peninsula today. Right around 76 degrees, comfortable conditions for you in wine country. However, this is our last warm day, increasing cloud cover all day long. We will start to see our first showers tonight by about 9 00 to 10 00. This is mostly for the north bay, then were really going to see that rain intensify as we head throughout tomorrow. Heres what you can count on. First showers arrive in the north bay, heavy stuff, steady stuff throughout tomorrow morning. Heavier rainfall for the whole bay area between the hours of 12 00 and 5 00. That has not changed. Thats the same window ive been giving you since monday of this week. You want to try to limit Outdoor Activity at that point, but the great news is, between 5 00 and 7 00, looks like were going to clear out in time for trick or treaters. We stop the clock tomorrow morning 5 00 a. M. , showers pushing into the north bay and what youll notice about your future cast is were not just dealing with the light green. Weve got the yellows, oranges, deep green, thats periods of heavy rainfall right in the heart of that parade. We stop the clock for you at 10 00 as they are trying to get set up out there, everybody trying to line the streets. Thats when the heavy stuff moves into San Francisco and it will continue until about 3 00, and thats when the heavy stuff starts to move into the south bay. But heres the deal, i stop that clock for you again at 7 00, and look at what happens. Those bands of rain separate, looks like youll be able to get outdoors for a couple hours with your trick or treaters without the heavy rainfall coming down, although it will still be windy and cool. Great news is, we keep the showers coming in, mostly while youre sleeping and, yeah, this could bring about maybe an inch of rain on the peninsula, maybe threequarters in the south bay. So this is really, really good news when it comes to our drought situation. Were calling it a trick and a treat for the halloween trick or treaters this year. Back to you scott and laura. Something for everyone. Do we know what its going to be . They are going to be a kangar kangaroo, dinosaur, and a kitty cat. Of course they are. As he continues voluntary isolation, the California Department of health has just released new regulations for travelers who have been exposed to the ebola virus. Anyone entering the state who recently traveled to west africa and had contact with ebola patients will now be required to undergo a mandatory 21day quarantine. Officials can expect that policy to face some pushback. A similar mandatory quarantine has a nurse on the east coast threatening to sue. I surely believe that this policy is not scientifically, nor constitutionally just. Reporter nurse kaci hickox in fort kent, maine, now has a state trooper parked outside of her home. Even more shocked when he saw the video of the bad guy in action. It appears he used some sort of electrical device. My car was locked, to disengage the locking mechanism. I have a Keyless Entry type of system, and he then proceeded to enter the car and take whatever was inside. Reporter Concord Place say they havent had a chance to closely review the video to verify if the suspect indeed used a hightech device to gain entry, but dr. Hamilton is certain. Ive never seen it in my life, and, obviously, technologys wonderful until things like this happen, but this is very scary. At least four other cars in the neighborhood were also hit early monday morning, some of them keyless. Neighbors hope the image of the suspect will lead to his arrest. If youve got a device able to get in or clone your Keyless Entry, thats a problem. Reporter dave says hes taking steps to protect his keyless cars, so he, too, doesnt become a victim. My car is always in the garage, but we try to lock the cars and lock the house and all those kinds of things. Id advise others to do the same. Lock up to be safe. You might say its research thats out of this world. Bay area students talking with satellites in a unique program in the south bay. Well show you how it works next. Meanwhile, im always watching satellites, especially today. Were about eight hours away from rainfall moving into the north bay, and right now those clouds are increasing steadily. Thats all coming up when nbc bay area news at 11 00 comes right back. Here we do Real Missions for both companies and nasa itself. Reporter thanks to a pair of students running their own dish network. Scott budman, nbc bay area news. Impressive. I know somebody else who has big satellite dishes and radar. It all shows rain. Good morning to you. Good morning to you, scott, laura, excuse me, superman, clark kent and laura. Anyone else out there love those glasses . I know im not alone. Tiburon time lapse shows you weve got a really interesting sky overhead. Whats happening out there at this time is your sky is clouding up, becoming overcast, and the further to the north you are in the bay area, if you are in marin county, sonoma county, mostly cloudy conditions there. Were still getting sunshine here, though, in the south bay. For now, our weather maker is on its way and slowly but surely the showers will arrive. Then it starts to get interesting as we head throughout tomorrow. It looks like for a short time we are going to hit what we call the Atmospheric River and that could produce heavy rainfall totals over a short period of time. Thats what were watching for for you as we head throughout your halloween, and, yeah, its one of those days a lot of us will be exposed to the elements. Heres the deal. Today temperatures are comfortable, 60s to low 70s cs the board. Not as sunny as yesterday, but just about as warm. Peninsula at 77. 71 on the east shore, and 68 degrees in beautiful San Francisco. Lets talk about the timing of the rainfall. When we meet back tomorrow morning at 5 00 a. M. , precipitation from San Francisco north through marin county. Thats a tough one, prefrontal precipitation. 5 00 a. M. , all the way to 7 00 a. M. , look at how much that activity ramps up. We start getting some of that orange and yellow rainfall over marin, the peninsula, youre starting to get wet. Then the front comes through quickly, bringing a lot of rainfall. Mostly between the hours of 10 00 a. M. And it looks like 2 00 p. M. For San Francisco. For us here in the south bay its going to be 12 00 to 5 00. Then look what happens here. This is such a great piece of information. Stop the clock at 3 00, showers start to let up just as the trick or treaters start getting ready to head outdoors, so we are going to have shower activity around, but not heavy stuff thats really going to drench and wash out your halloween plans. We wake up saturday morning still getting light to moderate rainfall and overall these totals, they could not look better from a single storm. Take a look at some of these very impressive numbers. We keep the tally going. Whats so interesting about this is we are talking about the highest totals out in the trivalley. Livermore, just under an inch of rain for you, same for walnut creek, napa, and, yeah, yu cuki. 6 of an inch. Whats really fascinating to me are some of the totals in palo alto and right here in san jose. The storm system comes through over the course of eight hours, this is enough rain to produce localized flooding. Could get dangerous for halloween plans. Stick with us, well keep you up to date on the timing and at this time tomorrow we should have a really, really good handle on it. Tomorrow, light showers beginning, heavier stuff between 12 00 and 5 00, and my gift to you two, the time change. An extra hour of sleep god bless you, Christina Loren. We need it so bad. She does it every year, too, which is so nice. I love it. You know what else is nice, sun is down at 4 00 in the afternoon. There you go. Still to come, new data to fuel the debate on common core standards in class. The poll results next. Welcome back.
