Deputies say around 7 30 last night, 61yearold puckett was on a hike with her husband on the smith creek trail in grant ranch park when she got separated from him. Her husband searched for hours, but after 2 00 a. M. , he decided to call for help. Santa clara county search and rescue along with cal fire and park rangers launched a search and found puckett at about 7 00 this morning. They say she did something very important to help in the search. Luckily, this person did exactly what youre supposed to do when youre lost. Youre supposed to stay put. So she had just basically stayed put all last night and she was located on the trail by the search and rescue personnel. Reporter puckett did not have a cell phone on her, but service in the area is very spotty. Deputies say she is in good health and is an experienced hiker. Also, few details in the Corruption Case surrounding leland ye. This morning, the suspended state senator was back in court to answer to new very serious charge. Nbc bay areas Stephanie Chuang live outside San Francisco federal court. Stephanie, ye continues to maintain his innocence. Reporter thats right. Good morning to you, scott. You know, the defendants state senator was joking and laughing with his attorney and some others in the hallway before the arraignment, seemed in good spirits. And we just 20 minutes ago caught him finally leaving the courthouse. He didnt have much to say. He did say this. Just need to talk to my attorney and see where we go from there. Reporter so deferring to his attorney, again. Not much to say. He was waiting in the courthouse to avoid media and cameras for his driver to pick him up and he exited very quickly again in just the last half hour. The same entrance and exit he went in. His attorney has not said anything on record about the case. Now, in a charcoal grey suit, he appeared in front of the judge just after 9 30. Was there all of five minutes. He and the other codefendants pleaded not guilty to all charges. The only additional discussion was the prosecutor mentioned adding the penalty to the sheet for racketeering, which is a 20year maximum prison sentence and 250,000 fine. But those were left off. Prosecutors say he violated the federal racketeering act in trying to get money and bribes in exchange for political favors and votes on everything from medical marijuana to limiting Workers Compensation claims in the nfl. Legal analysts say this is not something thats been brought up in similar cases against politicians. So the government painting a picture of yee as a man who built up a pattern of criminal behavior. The latest Additional Charge of rock tiering could prompt some of the codefendants in this case to talk in exchange for plea deals. Although one defense attorney has said he feels the revised indictment shows that the prosecutors case is weak. By the way, raymond shrimp boy chow, the other major defendant in this case, was charged with racketeering yesterday. The grand jury indicting him on more than 200 counts from shipment of stolen goods to money exchanging hands. His Attorney Says chow is a reformed gangster, who was caught up but is innocent in what was a threeyear fbi undercover operation and investigation. So the next Court Date Set here is general housekeeping, its a status conference. Really just to make sure everything is in line, because in this case, you have 29 codefendants, and that has been set for august 7th at 10 00 in the morning, back here at the federal courthouse. This is in the Almaden Valley neighborhood of san jose. Once inside, the intruder came face to face with that 17yearold who was home alone at the time. And police say the man used zip ties the to tie up that teen and then demanded cash. The teen told the man where to find some valuables, then the robber took off. Neighbors in this normally Quiet Community say theyre stunned. I was working, so i dont know if they came here first or if she was just barking at what was going on across the street. The teenager was able to free himself and call for help. He was not physically hurt, just very scared. Well, you saw all those squad cars. The San Jose Police department has decided it could use more of them. Nbc bay area has learned the department is considering a plan to cut its motorcycle traffic unit. Part of the plan would be to move those 11 officers over to patrol cars. The city should make a final decision soon. And while it might cut motorcycles, sjpd is adding a drone to its force. The department used federal money, apparently, to buy this 7,000 drone, or at least it paid 7,000. It will be used by the bomb squad to better assess threats. Sjpd says it wont be used for anything else. Since it was bought with federal funds, bomb squads in San Francisco, oakland, and other bay area agencies may be able to use the drone as well. The city of san jose is trying to do something about a burned out restaurant along a busy street. The city now considers the flames restaurant on hillsdale a blight according to the mercury news. The charred out remains are behind a chained link fence, some of it covered in graffiti, theres garbage in there as well. The city now telling the Property Owner to do something or they will be fined. Back in january, a kitchen fire caused more than 1 million in damage to the diner. The owners want to rebuild, but demolition of the old building will not begin for at least another six weeks. The Oakland Police officer fired for throwing a tear gas canister at protesters is now back on the job. An arbitrator has overturned the Police Departments termination of robert groesh and ordered the department to give him back pay. This according to the oakland tribune. In october of 2011, roche was caught on camera throwing a tear gas grenade into a crowd of unarmed occupied protesters. It happened less than a minute after another officer hit iraq war veteran, scott olson, in the head with a bean bag fired from a shotgun, causing permanent brain damage. The city settled that case earlier this year, paying olson 4. 5 million. Roche was placed on leave after the incident and then fired. Tesla has signed with Japanese ElectronicsCompany Panasonic to building that massive battery plant somewhere in the u. S. The Companies Announced the deal this morning. They still havent said where the socalled gigafactory will be built. The plant will produce batteries, many of which will go into tesla electric cars. It should employ about 6,500 people. Under the deal, tesla will build the building, and panasonic will make the actual batteries. Driverless cars could be on the roads in britain in less than six months. The country plans to start a threeyear tile program in january in three different cities. The plan will include two types of driverless technology, one which will have the ability for a person to take control of the car if necessary. The other would be fully autonomous.
