But the room was absolutely packed today. The Maximum Capacity is 600. It was walltowall here. Now, here people are still hanging out, having fun with their friends and family. You know, again, a mixed reaction, very loud in here. You know, i would say, a good way to describe the atmosphere here is there was a lot of drama. Every kick, every pass, the corner kicks, there was attention and reaction. One of the biggest reactions, of course, was this moment. Yeah, that was, of course, when germany scored that one and only goal of the game. That was in the 54th minute. Fans were definitely hurting a little bit after that point. But still hopeful. We do want to show some video of when the u. S. Did have some chances in the final minutes of the game. Again, this was just when it was already past the 90minute mark, the u. S. Had, in fact, two major opportunities to get the goals they wanted to get in, but came close, but still came up short. Now, just a recap a bit. In the first half, really, there was a lot of stopping for the goalkeeper, the u. S. Goalkeeper, tim howard. He kept it 00 for a lot of the game, up until that one score by germany. So, you know, a lot of this game played on our turf, which people didnt really want to see. But i want to bring it back, live, now, because were joined by jonathan deo of san jose. And he was the first person to get here to the brit at 7 30 this morning. Jonathan, was it worth it . Absolutely. I might have taken a considerable amount of time off my life by watching this game, but, yeah, it was totally worth it. I got a good seat, didnt have to stand anywhere, and it was fantastic. Reporter can you describe the mood . It was pretty uneventful for a lot of the game, the first half went scoreless. Top me through that. I just think it was pure stress. I think everyone was so stressed out, you know, with this group play in the world cup, you really have to see what the other team is doing. So soccer is one of those sports where you can lose and celebrate like you won. By ill totally take it. It was a great game. The u. S. Almost scored a goal at the end. But im glad theyre moving on. But the stress level in here was just intense, completely intense. I know, every moment they had the opportunity to break away and score, it was just disappointment over and over again. It would have been nice to get an equalizer and leave on a high note, but the fact that were moving the to the group of 16 is really just completely amazing. Happening now, crews working to clear the scene of a big rig crash in walnut creek. Around 6 30 this morning, the big rig slammed into the Center Divide on interstate 680 near north main street. The street was closed to traffic for about an hour because the roads were flooded. New at 11 00, a big victory for protesters outside abortion clinics. The Supreme Court has struck down a protestfree zone near clinics in massachusetts. The justices were unanimous this morning that extending a buffer zone 35 feet from the clinic entrance violates the First Amendment right of protesters. Chief Justice John Roberts says authorities have less intrusive ways to deal with problems outside of clinics. Jurors will hear closing arguments today in lawyers from the civil lawsuits against the dodgers. Theyve heard weeks of graphic testimony in the beating case of bryan stow. Now, over the past week, they actually heard from the two men who were sent to prison for the assault, but they actually didnt hear much. In video of the jailhouse interview, Louis Sanchez and Marvin Norwood declined to answer questions. She is trying to fly around the globe. The pilot also just happens to share the same name as legendary aviator, Amelia Earhart. Nannette miranda joins us live, and the pilot taking the same route that earhart planned more than 70 years ago. Reporter well, thats right. And you know, with a name like that, there really is no other destiny for her. The first Amelia Earhart, originally flew out of this airport in oakland on that illfated flight 77 years ago. This younger amelia, if successful, will become the youngest woman to fly around the world in a single engine plane. 31yearold Amelia Rose Earhart finds lastminute inspiration at the oakland aviation museum, which dedicates a section to the other Amelia Earhart, a pioneer in her day who went missing in the pacific in 1937, attempting to fly around the world. This modern day amelia will try to complete that trip, retracing much of that historic flight. My dads last name, being earhart, gave my parents a really cool opportunity to give me a name no one would forget. And i certainly fell down that path. Reporter amelia has ten years of experience as a pilot and will have a copilot, shane jordan, aboard. To see them take off is a wonder for 83yearold Mooney Ballard of newark, who watched that flight and flies planes now for fun. I just couldnt stay away. I had to come back. Its kind of like come back to meeting the first amelia and thanking her for the adventure i had as a young child. Reporter amelia is making the journey to honor the other Amelia Earhart and encourage more women to learn to fly. She also has a foundation to help pay for flight school. That was my geeky dream. Every girl wanted to be a princess, and i wanted to be a pilot. Mountain view police have posted photos online of hundreds of stolen items found in a suspected burglars house. Investigators are hoping to find the rightful owners. It all started last month when officers caught a man breaking into a bmw dealership. Aguirres brother was later arrested in a nearby neighborhood and Police Caught a third suspect from a lead in the investigation, eventually finding hundreds of stolen items in his house. Those items are now posted on Mountain View polices pinterest page. Most of the items, jewelry, wristwatches, but police are searching for other stolen things like motorcycle gloves, leather jackets, and helmets. People who live in an apartment complex in San Francisco hope someone will help them find the man whos been stealing their mail. Take a look. Surveillance video sent to us by a resident of the complex. You can see the man actually tearing open the entire mailbox with a crowbar. And he takes everybodys mail. It took him about three minutes to get in and get out. People who live there say theyve experienced mail theft many times before. They say packages started disappearing around christmastime and since then, their mail has been stolen three times. After nearly a week, a water leak in the south bay has finally been capped. Last night, crews fixed the leak in the willow grove neighborhood. San Jose Water Company says it fixed the leak in a reasonable amount of time, but neighbors say it took too long. One neighbor said he had to call the company a few times before they finally showed up. In response, the san Jose Water Company says they have to alert all Utility Companies first, so gas and cable lines can be checked before they open up the street. Yes, its not losing an insignificant amount of water, but we need to follow the safety procedures, so that we can repair this thing as quickly and as safely as we possibly can. San jose water says their track record of preventing leaks and wasted water is well above the national average. Well, deal or no deal. They have worked o out a deal to stay at the o. Co coliseum for another ten years, but it does include an out clause in case the as are allowed to move to san jose. But mayor kwan tells the chronicle chronicle, negotiations are still ongoing. The authorities ma manage the coliseum supposed to vote on a lease tomorrow. It must be approved by the Alameda County board of supervisors and the oakland city council.
