But he reiterated the u. S. Will not extend Ground Troops into the country. I want to emphasize, though, that the best and most Effective Response to a threat like isil will ultimately involve partnerships where local forces, like iraqis, take the lead. Finally, the United States will lead a diplomatic effort to work with iraqi leaders and the countries in the region to support stability in iraq. At my direction, secretary kerry will depart this weekend for meetings in the middle east and europe, where hell be able to consult with our allies and partners. In the meantime, iraqi soldiers and helicopter gunships battled sunni militants for a third day over iraqs largest oil refinery. A top Iraqi Security official and one of the militants says the government still has control of the refinery. Iraq has asked the u. S. For air strikes, targeting the militants who have taken large areas of the northern part of that country. Over the past few weeks, the group has slowly been taking over towns on its way to baghdad. Moving to local news now, we are learning new details about a bay area mom accused of attacking her daughters alleged bully. For the second time, prosecutors are asking the judge for more time to investigate this case. Nbc bay areas derek shore is live in santa rosa, where the mother is speaking out for the first time. And derek, she still maintains, we understand, that she didnt choke anybody. Reporter thats right. And it will be another month until we learn if that santa rosa mother will be charged with anything in all of this. But as you mentioned, this is the first time we are hearing from her. She is delia garcia bratcher, and shes accused of targeting a 12yearold boy, grabbing him by the throat and pushing him, leaving marks over at santa rosas olivet elementary because she believed, allegedly, that boy was bullying her daughter. Last month, the d. A. Stopped short of filing charges, asking for more time to investigate. Garciabratchers Attorney Says at least one witness may have seen the boy grab his own throat to leave those marks. Today, they were hoping to hear that the case was dropped. Instead, theyll have to wait until next month to learn if she will be charged. Now, the young mother says, for the first time now, that she and her family are going through a lot. Theyre being bullied now because of an incident, an incident she did not perpetrate. Theyve been provided with a report at this point that shows my clients completely innocent. Several lanes on the westbound side of the bridge were closed for 30 minutes, until crews could clear the scene. The driver of the truck was hurt and has been taken into custody.
