The violence and hate of these White Supremacist Group will not stop us from praising and thanking god for the diversity of our people. San francisco s ocean beach atra one of the bay area most popular beaches may be getting a new look. New warning signs going up. San Francisco Ocean beach attracts more than a million visitors each year. Many people, especially the tourist dont realize how hazardous the water is. Here is investigator reporter liz wagner. Reporter ocean beach is often too dangerous for swimming. The National Park service is responsible for ensuring safety. Tonight we investigate what the agency is doing to alert the public and the changes that may now be coming to ocean beach. Beautiful, inviting and sometimes deadly. Four people died in these waves last year. I think this is one of the most dangerous beaches in america. Reporter kim chambers would know. She is one of the top swimmers in the world. They respect the hazard of ocean beach. I have a lot of trouble getting through the surf and i am a very experienced surf swimmer. Reporter changing because of how much amounts of shifting stand. So what could be safe one day may not be the next. Currents coming out of the bay can carry people away. The nasty conditions prompted federal officials to make this announce many earlier this summer. An important take away of ocean beach is it is not a swimming beach. Reporter do you think visitors to this beach are getting the message that this is a no swimming beach. Of course not. Reporter long time local points to these signs. Kirk says the signs dont go far enough. You think this sign should say swimming prohibits do not swim. Too many lives have been loft. And as far as this sign, it doesnt say no swimming. Reporter so we raised the issue with the National Park service, the agency in charge with the beach and the signs. Reporter if the message is that ocean beach is not a swimming beach, why is it not reflected on the signs posted up and down the beach. You cant tell everybody you are not allowed to swim here. Reporter Doug Armstrong supervise these beaches. We are here to allow people to enjoy it and to enter the ocean. But just be aware it is dangerous. Reporter because this is such a dangerous beach, at what point can officials step in and say dont swim here. Yeah, thats a good question. You have to ask those officials who make those decisions. Reporter we did ask. The National ParkServices Says because of our questions, it will now consider putting stronger language on the signs. The agency also sends out roeing beach patrollers. We have dangerous rip currents here in ocean beach. So we want you to be ankle to knee deeps. Reporter you may never know the risk by looking at the language in tourist guys. We talked to howard picket. Our messaging is fair and balance. And i dont think we are putting anyone at risk. Reporter sf travel website says the water is cold and advises extreme caution. But stops short of what the National Park service has said publicly. That ocean beach is not a swimming beach. We would do that in partnership with them. Reporter that may be the case.
