Reporter as the city helps families with the enormous grief, oaklands interim director of building and planning tonight talked about two open complaints on file against the warehouse and the lot next door. Those documents are now public and they show that inspections were done on november 17th and 18th. The inspector was able to confirm blight but was unable to confirm a complaint that illegal building was taking place inside the warehouse. It is important for the Property Owner to receive due process, and they deserve a reasonable amount of time to respond to that notice. The Alameda County Sheriffs Department say firefighters found the High School Sweet house in the warehouse in each others arms. Gregorys father said he knew they would be found together. Tough to see that. Very, very sad. Nothing is as tragic as the loss of lives, but the fire also had a devastating effect on local businesses. Help could be on the way for them. As the cleanup continues and it is expected to continue for several weeks, all the while the streets in the area of this warehouse are closed. Now, Business Owners say their first thoughts of course are for the victims of the fire, but they are concerned about the business slow down and theyve had some pretty tough conversations with their employees. What are you telling them . Uh, we might they might not have jobs. City officials have said they want to steer some emergency federal money to the struggling businesses. Some other headlines this evening, a warning on campus after the second Sexual Battery in the last few days. A man sexually battered a woman in a stairwell at duncan hall this afternoon. The suspect is described in his 20s with spiky black hair. This attack comes two days after Police Released this picture of a man suspected of following a woman into the Student Union and sexually battering her. He was last seen riding a white skateboard with red stripes. Well, a break in a case of a shooting on highway 4 in pittsburg that left a woman dead. Take a look at the new video into our news room showing pittsbu Pittsburg Police at the home tonight. This is where officers arrested two of the four men suspected in the deadly shooting. The 25 and 22yearold suspects were taken in custody by a swat team. Two other men remain at large and theyre wanted for the shooting. They killed a San Francisco woman. It was one of at least two dozen highway shootings in the area this year along. Texas southern not what you see flying in or out of sfo. A foot chase that started before noon when police got a call about a man at the terminal possibly on drugs. He started running away from the scene when he saw sfpd. When officers followed the suspect he jumped the fence and ended up on the air field where he was arrested. Good news for a local police officer, of. Friends and family of the man raised 4,000 for the reward and have started a fundraising page to try to raise more money. The Sonoma County alliance is offering a separate rewarld of 2500. Caught in the act, Campbell Police are searching for three burglars caught on video ransacking a home. The victim says shortly after leaving her house one afternoon late last night this happened. She got an alert on her phone these three men were in her house. They set off the motion detectors. She watched remotely as they snatched her belongings, opening up drawers, going through things in her closet. She called police right away but officers did not get there in time to catch anyone. As weve reported, this is not the first time oakland officials have found issues with the propertys owner and her family. Our team has put together an exhaustive timeline showing contacts between ing and the city of oakland that go back nearly 20 years. Senior Investigative Reporter Stephen Stock shows us what hes uncovered. Reporter we used public records to put together this timeline. It shows the eng family had numerous complaints, citations and even liens against several of their properties. April of 2000, city officials filed a lien against a building they owned at 425 8th street after records showed they failed to clean up hazardous, nuisance or substandard conditions on the property. Then we go to 2004 and 2006 where the city receives three more separate complaints about the vacant lot next to the gos ship warehouse. Next complaint, february of 2007. Oakland city officials send the family a notice of substandard building for the ghost ship and hit them with 15,000 assessment. Then 2009 and 2010, two other separate liens for substandard or Hazardous Conditions at another piece of property located a few blocks away from the ghost ship. Then, of course, in november of 2016 the city gets two complaints on consecutive days about the ghost ship warehouse, one about trash, the other complaint about an illegal residential structure inside the building. And, of course, late friday night fire breaks out inside that living workspace where at least a dozen people had taken up residence. 36 people died when the fire spread due to no sprinklers, minimal fire escapes, and a building crammed full of dry, Wooden Furniture and art. I know for a fact theres only one way in and one way out. There are two walkways where you can exit. Theres also a fire escape which reporters might have noticed is at the front of the building. Theres several massive windows on hinges that open up on to roofs next door and so on. King lost a friend in the ghost ship fire a few nights ago and has lived in a warehouse herself. She is urging the city to help local warehouses so artists can continue to live there. Theres no way to get them back, but there is a way to honor and remember the people who died in the fire. We are rainfall moving in near the peninsula and coastline. Here to help track is stormranger. If you havent seen it, it is quite a sight. We of course strive to put it in the area getting hit the hardest, and you can see the rainfall coming down in sheets across san berno mountain. It is our Doppler Radar hoisted up about 20 feet into the air, and with it closer to the ground we can give you a more accurate scan of what is happening tonight. Now, so far weve seen about a quarter to half inch of rainfall from San Francisco down to about the midpeninsula and winds gusting 15 to 30 miles an hour where stormranger is located. Now, when we have this fired up, all you need to do is look for the red sweep and that will be the data coming from our live scan. So lets go ahead and take you down so we can get a view of what were tracking tonight. Again, there has been some heavier pockets. You know what im talking about if you live in San Francisco. Right now it is more of a moderate rain across the embarcadero, but a few moments ago we had more intense rainfall which were currently tracking right now moving into berkeley. That will continue into about midnight. Over towards the rest of the east bay, also some heavier pockets of rain will continue to move into camino tasajero. As we get to the peninsula, fast moving rain through san lorenzo after midnight. A lot of the wet weather has been picking up in terms of intensity. For the south bay its been a little less, but with it speeding to the east we are starting to see it fill in across downtown san jose. At this point everyone expected to get this wet weather as we continue into tomorrow morning. Now, the biggest change for the morning forecast besides the fact that rainfall will be with us is not nearly as cold. This storm is moving from the south with some subtropical air, so instead of 30s well begin with 54 in south bay, 53 in the peninsula and 51 for trivalley. For the east bay, low 50s, same for San Francisco and north bay at 49. Not only will it be wet, but the roadways will be breezy as well, especially across the bridges. Winds gust 15 to 30 Miles Per Hour for the morning commute. So, again, rainfall as we start off tomorrow morning, and then as we head throughout 1 30 well see this areas of scattered rain continue and likely see the same thing into the afternoon on thursday as well. And into friday, some periods of on and off rainfall. So, again, at this point it is not walltowall rain from right now into fridays forecast. It will just come in waves here across the bay area with the nature of our current storm system. What about rainfall total . A lot of colors on this map. Find your city, check the key at the top and you can see most of us covered in blue. Thats half inch to one and a quarter inch potential. A few purple areas in the north bay elevations, santa cruz mountains, likely one and a half to 2 inches. Across san jose looking more like a half inch into saturday mornings firstr forecast. It is a typical rain shadow effect dealing with in south bay. Anything is good with the current crowd in place. In sierra, up to 3 inches. 9 inches potential for kirk wood through the 72 hours. On extended forecast, best chance of accumulating rainfall again the next 48 hours, on and off rain for the weekend and a few slight chances into monday and tuesday. The next two days hold the best chances for that accumulating rainfall and jacket weather throughout the next seven days. I dont know about you guys, even though im sitting here forecasting these temperatures i walked outside today and brrr i needed a couple more layers. It was very cold and rainy, too.
