Last seen wednesday morning crying for help as a gunman pulled her away. The gunman was killed in a shootout but pearl is nowhere to be found. Investigators picked up a new lead in jenner in Sonoma County where cheryl hurd spent the day. Search crews Still Holding on to hope of finding that missing teen. Reporter Law Enforcement is here making sure no one passes this yellow line. Tomorrow morning search and rescue teams will be here. Their goal is to find pearl pinson. A rescue helicopter covering four square miles of rough terrain outside of the tiny town of jenner looking for 15yearold pearl pinson. Why here has been a big question. We hope to answer those questions in the very near future. Right now this is a developing, ongoing investigation. Reporter the search for pinson has been taking place since friday afternoon with both dogs and rescue teams. But it started wednesday. Police believe she was abducted while on her way to school in vallejo, two hours away from jenner. Neighbors heard a bonechilling scream and gunshots. On thursday, police got into a gun battle with 19yearold Fernando Castro a couple of hundred miles away in Santa Barbara county. Castro, an acquaintance, is the prime suspect in pinsons kidnapping. He was shot and killed trying to get away from police. Our number one priority is bringing pearl home safe hi to her family. We do believe that is possible. I love you so much, pearl, were here praying for you. Reporter her family believes pinson is alive. They hung pearls for pearl at the growing memorial on the overpass where she was kidnapped. Jenner residents are overwhelmed by the search. To see this much action out here, this doesnt happen. This is a retirement area. Were used to kayaks and stuff, not chopper and news cameras. Reporter family members are continuing an independent search in vallejo. But they say they plan to come here to jenner to be close to the investigation. New at 11 00, have you seen this truck . Deputies say the driver ran over two dogs, leading to their deaths, and sending the owner to the hospital. Sheriffs investigators have been able to put several images together and they have a very good idea of the truck they are after. This evening in saratoga, this flashing sign gets your attention. Taken by surveillance cameras all along dagmar drive, they show you the gray ford pickup truck with a lightcolored shell believed to have struck anna palmer and her two leashed labradors. The dogs injuries so severe they had to be euthanized. In this neighborhood, especially this street, lots of cars speeding. Reporter the hit and run happened at 8 30 wednesday morning at Holiday Court along a section of dagmar the commuters use as a speedy shortcut. There are no sidewalks. Even my kids have to be really careful, looking all the time. Reporter palmer was treated at a nearby hospital and could not be reached for comment. Neighbors posted flyers and circulated the trucks picture on their neighborhood website called next door. He has to be responsible, whoever was driving, should be responsible. Accidents may happen but be responsible for what they have done. Its felony hit and run. Exactly. Reporter one neighbor noted the multiple surveillance cameras and pictures they provided are in a way a smallerscale version of whats being proposed along i80 in the east bay that could help solve that areas string of highway shootings. We may have a better idea if they work in this case. Heres a problem in San Franciscos ingleside district tonight. This is new video of a sinkhole. It opened up on lake view avenue near the intersection of margaret avenue. The sinkhole about four feet deep. Crews put up blockades. Theyre now deciding whether to move ahead with temporary repairs or wait until a permanent fix tuesday. Memorial day weekend is one of the busiest travel weekends of the year. According to the agency more than 1,000 people were arrested for dui in chp jurisdiction during last years memorial day weekend. Youre holding your phone up to your face. Reporter drunk drivers arent the only problems. A lot of people are now using ipads, ipods, browsing facebook, things like that. Electronic devices are an issue. Reporter another issue is outside of jacobsons San Francisco jurisdiction. And thats the recent rash of shootings on east bay freeways. While its not an issue on his side of the bay bridge hes taking notice. Im sure its some sort of gang issue. It would be crazy to say theres not a gang issue going on in the city of San Francisco and on the peninsula. After more than three decades with the department. Today San Francisco pd posted this letter to the former chief on its Facebook Page thanking him for his many years of service. They say his leadership led to Successful Community programs and lasting partnerships. Sick kids in the south bay. Lots of them. It could be signs of a possible norovirus outbreak. Students filled the nurses room saying they felt sick, including symptoms associated with norovirus, a gastro intestinal illness that has become a concern. Two weeks ago nbc bay area reported the San Jose Unified School district took action at horace mann and other schools when students complained of stomach problems. The focus is on yet another school. We noticed an increase here at willow glen elementary of kids with vomiting and diarrhea. Since weve had situations at horace mann and backratt we jumped on it. Reporter the school notified Public Health, parents, then closed playgrounds and canceled field trips. One parent taking her Children Home from the Nurses Office was grateful for the quick action and trying to keep it all in perspective. Robert told us that Public Health officials emphasize there has not been a single confirmed case yet, but symptoms pass quickly and its difficult to get lab samples. The agency is working closely with every district where there are symptoms appearing we have the first case of zika virus in Solano County. The Solano CountyHealth Department says the patient recently traveled to central america. The department is stressing at this time the virus poses no risk to people who live in the county. According to the California Department of Public Health there are 16 confirmed cases of zika in the bay area. All nine counties have at least one case reported so far. Alameda with the most at four.
