He is under arrest for child endangerment and other charges. No one was hurt. Police say people should be able to return to their homes as soon as the fumes dispait. That traffic nightmare on the pen fins la is not over yet. 101 closed for more than 15 hours from last night until this afternoon. Now its going to close again. The closures are because hi highvoltage power lines fell onto the freeway. On your left from it looked like when lanes were shut down. On your right the damage left behind and the crews working to fix it. Crews had to close 101 southbound, southbound, from millbrae avenue in millbrae to poplar avenue in san mateo, northbound to broadway in burlingame. Tomorrow night starting at 10 00 until monday morning at 4 00. Christie smith joining us live from burlingame with more on this. Reporter right now pg e crews are here working hard on a temporary repair. As you said, these are highvoltage transmission lines that came down. And were told, as you said, additional work will be needed tomorrow night. I wanted to show you video of what it looked like when 101 finally reopened late this afternoon. A big relief for drivers who were frustrated and caught in the gridlock. Heres what happened. It was late last night around 9 30, and what were hearing is that a thirdparty contractor actually, crews bumped into this transmission tower. It came toppling down. Drivers again very frustrated as the power lines were draped across the freeway. A spokesperson for the utility says a temporary fix is going in. Thats 125foot pole. They will do the job of the tower. The second part is spanning 1,500 feet of wire across the freeway. Thats going to happen tomorrow. And they say they have to shut it down for safety reasons. They say that the main artery, of course, between San Francisco and the peninsula, was shut down until late this afternoon. Pg e saying that the repair is complicated. The transmission lines are like an energy highway. Safety is certainly their priority. Drivers already reconsidering their plans for tomorrow night. Again, that closure starts tomorrow night, 10 00 p. M. Until 4 00 a. M. They say they do not expect any Service Interruptions while thats going on. They are supposed to help you get out of jail. But tonight more than a dozen bail bond workers find themselves on the other side of the coin. Last night our Investigative Unit uncovered exclusive details about these busts. These photos show the arrests taking place. So far about 18 people have been arrested just in the south bay. Sources close to this investigation tell us that these bonds men face felony charges for colluding with inmates inside the santa clara jail. The accused are charged with working with inmates to gain unfair advantage, gaining information on potential bail cases and beating out the competition by getting exclusive telephone access to inmates before other bail companies could. Three inmates are in the hospital suspected of having the disease. 45 others are being monitored for symptoms. The diagnosis prompted the prison to turn off the water yesterday and thats because legionnaires is a type of pneumonia people get by breathing in mist from water containing the bacteria. Today toilets were given the allclear. Faucets and showers have to stay dry until the prison figures out the source of that bacteria. Violence on an east bay freeway. Look at this bulletriddled car. Police are looking for the guy who did it. Last night about 11 00 officers responded to several 911 calls about the shooting. They found the car sitting on i880 in oakland south of fifth avenue. Two were rushed to the hospital in stable condition. That portion of the highway was closed until about 1 30 this morning. Police have not released information on the suspects or if the victims were targeted. Talk about a story of survival. A nineday nightmare in the sierra is over for a 62yearold marker. Miyuke harwood set off on a hike on the 20th, became separated from her group. Rescue teams from across the state have been looking for her for days. Today those efforts paid off. Nbc bay areas Marianne Favro joining us with the details how harwood managed to survive. Sometimes these stories dont end this well. That is certainly true. Talk about resilient. Miyuke harwood had no food, she was planning on a oneday hike. Fortunately she did have a water filter with her. Authorities say that with broken bones, she was able over two days to crawl down to a nearby creek and get some water. It was likely that water that sustained her during nine days in the wilderness. Today, 62yearold miyuke harwood was flown to a fresno hospital. The hikers nightmare over. For nine days she had broken bones, no food, and endured nighttime temperatures in the 30s. They found her in a very remote area of the Sierra Nevada mountains, on a very rocky location. She was injured. She does have broken bones. Reporter more than 50 people combed the rugged terrain for days looking for harwood, who was from orangeville near sacramento. Im sure the pilot can make that determination based on what you tell him. Reporter thick smoke from a nearby fire made the search more challenging. A chp helicopter finally spotted her and a search and rescue team on the ground heard harwood blowing a whistle. When youre nine days in, starting to wonder if the dividends going to pay off. Then to have such a Success Story is utterly amazing. And it just tickled us all to death that we have good news at the end of nine days because that is rather amazing survival for that length of the time. Reporter while a helicopter was able to fly harwood to safety, there are still 50 searchers who could not hike out of the remote region before dark. Tonight theyre forced to spend the night in the sierra until they can be airlifted out tomorrow. Rescuers say when they finally found harwood, she was exhausted but extremely grateful. Kayakers and swimmers near san diego get up close and personal with a hammerhead shark. Incredible video showing the maybe eight to tenfootlong shark circling the boats at La Jolla Shores about 1 00 this afternoon. The shark was reportedly showing what theyre calling aggressive behavior towards swimmers who climbed aboard kayaks. The sharks then followed the kayaks to the shore. Lifeguards clot s closed the bea precaution. Hammerheads are typically thought to be unaggressive compared to other sharks. In morro bay a shark bit off a huge chunk of a surfboard.
