Investigative reporter Stephen Stock went undercover and continues our series of reports of real refugees living in the shadows around us. Reporter we spent two months traveling between the Mexican Border and the bay area, joining immigrants on buses headed for destinations all over the country, including here. Along the way we also discovered something we did not expect to find. Something about many of these refugees that startled even us. The large numbers may have dwindled in the last few months, but the lines of refugees making their way to local bus stations have not stopped here in tucson, arizona. We watched as day after day mothers and infants, fathers and Young Children were dropped off at the local bus station. They all were fleeing violent gangs and death squads in guatemala, el salvador, and honduras. Then we rode with some of them across hundreds of miles of desert as they traveled to meet relatives and friends already living here throughout the united states. Traveling to faroff places like atlanta, new jersey, los angeles, and eureka in northern california. Along the way we discovered an unexpected group of refugees. Translator yes, im scared. They prostitute them out, and if not they just kill them. Their bodies appear everywhere. In rivers. Anywhere. Reporter dariana was 13. Translator i felt so bad. I was alone and had no one. Until i got to the detention center. I didnt get to talk to my mother. I didnt know how she was. Translator these children are not alone. According to the u. S. Border patrol, almost 52,000 unaccompanied children from guatemala, honduras, and el salvador have been picked up along the u. S. Mexican border through september 30th of this year. Theres a deportation proceeding that has commenced against Illegal Migrants including children. Reporter earlier this year on meet the press Homeland Security secretary jeh johnson, while insisting federal law would be followed, also admitted these refugee children pose a unique challenge to immigration policy in its current form. Reporter reverend ben daniel is pastor at Montclair Presbyterian Church in oakland, one of the local churches that supports east bay sanctuary. I get frustrated when i hear people suggesting that children risking their lives to come here, 12 years old, 8 years old, whatever, these people to say these people are some sort of existential threat to the united states. That frustrates me. Translator they said if you join us well be friendly and things will be like we have said. Reporter this girl was 17 when she fled her home in guatemala. After gangs told her to join them or die. Translator but if not they told us theyd kill us. Thats why we came here, to save our lives. Reporter jaime is now in high school trying to learn english and hoping he can stay. He worries that gang members from guatemala will catch up with him even here. Dariana made her way to the bay area, where she was finally reunited with her mother and father, who were already here. They worry about the familys matriarch, who still lives in honduras, and they say surely will be killed if gangs find out that they talked to us. The family was able to evacuate before the lava arrived. At least 50 other homes in the projected path have been given evacuation notices. Hard to watch. Lets turn things over to chief meteorologist jeff ranieri. What were dealing with is some fog. Microclimate forecast, patchy areas of dense fog forming in the north bay peninsula all the way down across the santa cruz mountains. The overall visibility is right now at five miles and less but we do expect that to get worse for tomorrow. Right now the temperatures dropping into the mid 50s. Its getting close to the dew point temperature. So the atmosphere is pretty much saturated at this point again for tomorrow morning. So as youve been mentioning we do expect that fog. I do think its going to be the worse up until the north bay, also with San Francisco with patchy areas of drizzle. Also notice the temperatures in marin, napa, and sonoma county. Down anywhere here across the south bay were looking at patchy fog. With the low clouds to start for tomorrow were also going to combine it now on top of that a stronger westerly wind. Thats going to draw temperatures in your microclimate forecast about four to seven degrees from today. Its going to be cooler but well still get some sunshine by afternoon. San jose expecting 68 degrees. For the peninsula. 67 in foster city and 69 palo alto. Cloud cover at coastlines not going to go anywhere. San francisco expecting 60s. Its going to be a cold and also blustery day right up against the marina at the Golden Gate Bridge and 65 degrees. Downtown looking more like 67. And for the north bay, east bay, and trivalley, temperatures also dropping in napa to 68. Back toward sausalito a little bit cooler there, and for the east bay well hold on to some cloud cover right here in oakland but back toward walnut creek well get some sunshine, temps in the low 70s, also low 70s in the trivalley with 73 in pleasanton, also 72 in livermore. Weve been mentioning this possibility of rainfall. Now lets take you to that on this futurecast. This cold fronts going to get closer wednesday by 5 00 p. M. Most of that rainfall should be offshore by that point. Models have been consistent with that. And you can see by 9 00 well get areas of rainfall spreading throughout the north bay down to about San Francisco. But the thing to remember with this, all the way down to san jose, is well likely see some of the heavier returns of rainfall in the overnight hours when a lot of you were sleeping and the best news for thursday is it should clear out at this point for the morning commute. Now, as far as rainfall totals go, no, its not the largest storm system of the season, but we should squeeze out at tenth of an inch were hoping toward san jose, San Francisco northward, anywhere from a tenth to possibly over a quarter of an inch. On the weather trend throughout the next several days, once again, rain Late Wednesday into thursday, dry friday and saturday, by sunday well get clouds increasing in san jose but well likely see a chance of showers return in San Francisco with a weaker system thats going to be hitting the coastline. Also check it out, from november the 18th through the 26th we could see several storms forming. Were going to finetune that but it could be our best chance of rain in maybe a year. Wow. Okay.
