If somebody throws a match or something out here when im walking, i worry about that. You know . Its a fire, its going to burn up this beautiful area. Reporter all the dry grass at seal point park in san mateo has deborah worried about fire danger. With views across the bay, police say its a popular park for people to gather and watch the fireworks on the fourth of july. A lot of families gather. And then eventually you get large groups of adults coming in. And it fills up. Quite a bit of congestion. Reporter with high fire danger and limited access to park, San Mateo Police and fire officials arent taking any chances. Tomorrow night, this park is off limits. Pour the first time, san mateo is closing seal point park and ryder park at 6 00 on the 4th. Parkside aquatic will also be closed as usual. Signs are posted. Police will be enforcing the closure. Because weve had such a dry winter, a lot of dry grass out there is a major fire hazard. Park rangers have seen an uptick in the use of illegal fireworks. It made sense to close early. Reporter yesterday fireworks sparked a fire in antioch, burning a hillside behind a school. For some the park closure in san mateo is a surprise. I figured since they cut the grass, they really didnt have to do anything. There is dry grass all the way along this section of third avenue. Reporter others say its smart to be cautious. I think thats probably a really good idea. Better to be safe than have a problem. Reporter and like cities will have all over the bay area, san mateo will have stepped up patrols. His supplier told him they were out of sedatives, looking like dog owners are prepping for tomorrow nights fourth of july. They want to do everything they can to keep their dog safe. Four to six hours, give 45 minutes before needed. And its just one tablet. No problem. Reporter dog owner Chris Scanlon is worried about his dog buddy, a high energy boxer that he adopted years ago. Like a lot of dogs, buddy is terrified of fireworks. And so this year, scanlon is getting his dog some pharmaceutical help, franklizers. Give him some tranquilizers. Mellow him out. He is not the only one. Campbells reed hospital says the phone has been ringing off the hook for people looking to sedate their dogs for the fourth. I have to say i think this year its even worse. Crews could be there for two more weeks. This fire hits home for so many people. Gary bennetts house was wiped out. He built it 35 years ago. Here he is taking a look at the damage. Its really going to impact everyone from North Carolina all the way up towards maine. You can esee right now this storm is massive in its size. In fact, its Holding Together a lot better than forecast models had just 24 hours ago. Making landfall at cape lookout in North Carolina on those outer banks at 8 15 tonight. With winds of 100 Miles Per Hour. What youre going to see in the next map is Cape Hatteras is currently getting winds that are close to category 1 strength. 72 Miles Per Hour coming out of the southeast at this point. Again, winds at 100 at the core of this storm. And the track on this does have it weakening again. A little bit for tomorrow. Making it parallel here to new jersey also new york. Winds at 90 Miles Per Hour by friday evening. Some of the worst travel impacts will be d. C. , boston, and new york. Not only for airline travel, but also some extremely dangerous surf. If youre heading that way, back here across the bay area, it may mean some residual delays and possible cancellations. Check those flight plans closely. Then this heads off towards nova scotia.
