So weve pinpointed some of the top travel concerns for tomorrow. Oklahoma city, freezing rain. Also a wintery mix. A trifecta in chicago. Not only snow, but sleet and also freezing rain. Then well take you to the third spot, the southeast. Arkansas, louisiana, mississippi. The possibility of tornadoes in those locations. Here across the bay area if youre waiting for a flight to land they should have total clearance with mostly sunny skies and temperatures in the low 60s. But strap on your seat belt here. If youre headed anywhere across the west on some sort of a hopper flight, rain in seattle, certainly could delay you with 47 degrees and also more snow in Salt Lake City with 33. New details tonight involving a mall shooting in the east bay that rattled nerves on the last friday before christmas. One man injured and police are looking for the shooter. Nbc bay areas cheryl hurd is live in san leandro where the mall closed a while ago. Reporter witnesses are telling police that they saw two men fighting in front of that Old Navy Store and the next thing they knew, shots were fired. This lot was so crowded that security guards could not catch up with the shooter. San Leandro Police spent hours looking for shell casings and gathering evidence right in the middle of a busy parking lot at the bayfair mall. I think its crazy. Everybodys out shopping trying to get things for the holidays and somebody always has to act foolish. Its just uncalled for. Its the season to be happy. Reporter something went wrong at around 4 30 in front of the Old Navy Clothing store. There appeared to have been some sort of a verbal altercation in the parking lot prior to the shooting occurring. We do not know what that argument was about. Reporter police dont know how many shots were fired. When they arrived, they saw a man on the ground suffering from a non life threatening gunshot wound. Scary. Very scary. Thats the most shocking part that its here where there are so many people and people shopping with their kids and there are elderly people and just, like, right here. Reporter police blocked off the area where the shooting happened. But the mall stayed open. Bayfair mall has increased security on staff during the holiday season. When you look up, you can see there are surveillance cameras everywhere. And police are hoping some of them captured pictures that may be able to help them find the shooter. People need to start thinking before they react. You know, its senseless. Reporter now, police say that the victim is a 24yearold man who lives in the area. Now, the suspect is a younger man, last seen jumping into a white compact car. If you have any information, contact the san leananndro poli department. Not just san leandro, 39 miles away at about the same time, another mall shooting. This time in tracy. Police say shortly before 5 00 this evening a man fired shots into a glass door at the entrance of the west valley mall. Witnesses say the shooter was a man in his late teens or early 20s. And that he was last seen leaving the parking lot possibly on foot. No one was injured. The mall was never closed or evacuated. Well, its the classic lastminute rush before this holiday. A judge ordered Childrens Hospital oakland to keep jahi mcmath on life support until other doctor comes in to confirm she is brain dead. As nbc bay areas Kimberly Terry tells us, the girls mother says she cant live with losing her daughter before christmas. Reporter jahi mcmaths mother cried in the courtroom as she waited to hear the judges decision. The hospital is addressing the child as if shes dead already. Their position is shes dead, there is no treatment shes entitled to. Reporter this all began on december 9th when jahi went into Childrens Hospital for surgery. Afterwards she began suffering severe complications. Three days later she was declared brain dead. The hospital has said it has a right to turn off life support. The family is fighting to prevent that and led to todays court hearing. This is first time were hearing from Childrens Hospital which has been prevented from talking about the case by federal privacy laws. As sad as it is for the family to have to come to grips with the fact that their daughter has passed away, there is no sign of brain activity and there has been no sign. Reporter the hospitals attorney also says despite many reports, jahis tonsillectomies was not a simple surgery, three procedures were being done simultaneously. Childrens hospital continues to have an extreme amount of sympathy for the family of jahi mcmath, and were empathetic to their reluctance to deal with closure here and the difficulties that everybody is having and come to grips with a tragic situation. Reporter the hospital says it will comply with the judges ruling. The next step is to bring in an independent doctor to review jahis case. The hospital suggested five docktors out of ucsf. The judge gave the family until monday to pick one of the five while the hospital will check on each doctors availability. Hed like jahi examined monday so the family knows whether further treatment is warranted. Kimberly terry, nbc bay area news. A person in a wheelchair is dead after hit by a car tonight in san jose. The collision happen around 7 00 p. M. In the area of monterey road and feland avenues not far from municipal stadium. Police say the car ran into the person headon. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver is cooperating with police. Alcohol is not believed to be a factor. This is the 26th vehicle versus pedestrian death in san jose this year. Last year, there were 12 such accidents. Good news for commuters in the east bay. Ac transit buses will keep running. No strike. Ac transit and its unions have reached a tentative labor agreement. The news comes just two days before the expiration of a 60day order not to strike. A federal judge struck down a samesex marriage ban. The judges ruling set off a frenzy in state which began issuing marriage licenses to gay couples almost immediately. The mayor of Salt Lake City led one of the first gay wedding ceremonies to an eruption of cheers. A federal judge ruled a constitutional amendment approved by utah voters in 2004 is unconstitutional.
