Reporter tonight we learned the name of the victim, 46yearold tony zumini. And the person who killed him is his own son. It just hurts so much to see my father just laying there and i cant bring him back. It really hurts. Reporter losing their father is a crushing low to priscilla and her sister, vanessa. A man they respected and looked up to. I cant believe this happened to be honest. A lot of heart also be broken. Reporter whats more devastating, the family says the person who killed 46yearold tony was his own son, andy. The family says the two had an argument and tony was shot outside of his home. It just happened so fast that we dont know what really happened. I got a phone call by my brother just screaming and i rushed over and that is what happened. Reporter candles and a picture were placed in the area where he took his last breath. Investigators are not confirming andy is in custody, the family says hes been held by police. I cant really believe it. I feel terribly, terribly bad for my mother. Thats been her soul mate for the longest time. Reporter he was the father of ten children. His family says he loved fixing up cars and rescuing stray dogs. Vanessa and priscilla say they want to carry on his legacy. We want to carry on his good name. Hopefully we can live up to the standards he had for himself. Reporter tomorrow night, the family is going to hold a vigil in front of their home at 7 30. George kiriyama, nbc bay area news. George, thank you very much. New at 11 00, a heavy Police Presence after a shooting this evening. Someone called 911 after 5 00 after they heard gunfire at a home. When officers arrived, they found a 38yearold man shot in the chest. Paramedics rushed him to the hospital. People on the peninsula are breathing a sigh of relief after a fastmoving brush fire burned close to their homes. It bumped 40 acres, starting near hillside boulevard. About 2 00 this afternoon. Monty francis is live with the latest. Reporter terry, good evening. The fire is fully contained, but the grass out here is very dry, so crew also be here all night long looking for flareups. There were some moments of real panic. As thick smoke filled the neighborhood, police evacuated dozens of homes and this woman grabbed her rosary and started praying. You know, you hear the fire at yosemite. Just the thought of it is very scary. Reporter many people said they received a phone call with a recorded message saying to evacuate. Even some people outside of the evacuation area had bags packed and were ready to go if the flames got too close. Kind of got ready, packed some valuable stuff and ready to go. Reporter one man shot this video with his cell phone. As the fire came over the ridge and approached his home. The four alarm fire drew resources from ten different agencies, aircraft and more than 50 firefighters on the ground. It took them about two hours to get the upper hand on the blaze. With hot temperatures across the bay area, cal fire says humidity is low and fire danger is high. Many people who live near San Bruno Mountain live the last fire in 2008 and told us todays was more frightening. This one is close kerr and this one we are down wind from it. So its a little more concerning and the wind typically picks up in the afternoon, as well. Reporter as the sun went down, fire crews equipped with lights went looking for hot spots and it was clear the fire had left some people without power, and at least one traffic light on hillside boulevard was dark. I just talked to pg e on the phone. 240 customers are still without power because of a downed line. No reports of injuries as a result of the fire and the cause is still under investigation. We received calls from viewers in the south bay concerned about smoke in the air and the Fire Department says yes, the brush fire in South San Francisco sends smoke down here to san jose. Anthony, those pictures from that story remind us of the high fire danger today and hotter tomorrow . Temperatures expected to go up two to five degrees. I want to revisit the conditions when this fire broke out in South San Francisco. Temperatures were back into the mid to upper 80s, so it wasnt overly hot. Weak winds at 5 to 15, so thats good news, didnt have a lot to fuel where this fire moved to. Relative humidity was very low. Tomorrow, air quality will remain in the moderate category from the north bay to the south bay. Some of the hottest conditions today, blackhawk, dub lick, gilroy got to 100 degrees. When crews arrived, they found one house fully engulfed, a neighboring house covered in flames. Fortunately everyone is okay and the cause is under investigation. This warehouse fire left a dog injured, two buildings damaged and hundreds of palettes destroyed. The fire broke out about 11 00 last night in a pile of palettes in between the two buildings. The flames spread quickly causing two propane tanks to explode. Now to the crisis in syria. San jose firefighters welcomed the public to a grand opening of a new firestation today. Station 24 is very near silver creek road in south san jose. The Fire Department spokesperson says the new station marks a turn around after city cutbacks. Given the reduction of services over a period of years, this is a step forward for the city of san jose to provide Fire Protection services right now when theyre needed, where theyre needed. As you can see, people at the opening toured the firehouse and there was even some cake available. We have new information on the cost of that massive fire burning in and around yosemite. Crews have spent more than 89 million fighting the rim fire. This is new video youre looking at. You can see a huge cloud of smoke. The flames blackened nearly 400 square miles and it may continue to grow. 11 homes have been destroyed. Tonight, that fire is 80 contained. A major new study finds ecigarettes work just as well as if not better than the nicotine patch. More than 600 people took part in the study. More than 7 of ecigarettes user were able to quit smoking after six months. Longterm Health Effects are unknown. The ultimate question will be whether the benefits of ecigarettes can outweigh therapies like gun or the patch. We know that nicotine therapy is not harmful and you can stand it for a long time without harm. The study found that more than half of the ecigarette users who were not able to quit smoking entirely, did cut down on the number of cigarettes smoked. That was the sound of tokyo today. I think were seeing plenty of our fair share of fires over the past really this whole season. We havent had a whole lot of rain since last year. Lets start off with the record heat for tomorrow. Its going to be another hot day. Temperatures tomorrow will be a little warmer than today. Were talking about widespread from concord to napa, san jose and oakland, all expecting to get close to some old records. History could be made here on this sunday once we get into it. Temperatures right now, 58 in San Francisco. Really cooled off dramatically with that on shore flow. 63 down in santa cruz. 71 in san jose. Lets go outside and show you that thin sliver of fog trying to creep into the city. That is a very shallow marine layer trying to get up under this area of High Pressure. Youll see the flag is blowing and moving with the on shore flow. To fog will be with us at least with the coastal communities tomorrow morning. That means with this area of High Pressure in control, its going to be pushed back out to sea as we head into the afternoon hours. Tomorrow with that little bit of fog in place, some of the coastal communities might not warm a whole lot from where we were today. Today, 89 in oakland. 94 in redwood city. Santa cruz 79. San francisco got to 83 degrees. Again, with that little pesky fog thats with us tomorrow, temperatures at the coast not going to move a whole lot. San francisco, 85. Santa cruz 83.
