We bring in nbc bay areas jean to tell us how these people are preparing. Ill tell you, we are starting to see lightning. The red flag here is out at the moraga fire district. Firefighters all over the bay area. I look out the window. There is smoke all over the other side of the street. We were panicked. This area is open space. Michelle and her son saw flame across the street from their house and worried the fire and dry brush would spread. They said crews put this fire out before it could burn nearby home. Partly because an extra engine with additional firefighters showed up. The Fire Departments all over the bay area are beefing up staffing during a red flag warning. In san mateo county. Cal fire is expecting some out of town help. Crews are preparing for lots of lightning. Since this weather warning has started, weve had about 25,000 lightning strikes throughout the state of california. And a substantial amount have been on the eastern sierra. Thunderstorm are expected in the bay area. And firefighters say conditions are perfect for fires. Lightning activity on a good day is dangerous. Were looking at conditions rate now that are drought conditions. If not drought, very dry. As cal fire prepares for the worst. People are grateful neighbors had a Defensible Space and trimmed trees when the fire did erupt. We get the notices. You take it seriously. But now you really take it seriously. And tonight, firefighters are saying we should take this red flag warning seriously. Parts of the bay area will remain under that warning until wednesday. Were getting words other a triple shooting that happened just after 10 00 at the restaurant cafe at 2800 allen rock avenue near north capital avenue. Police say two victims have nonlife threatening injuries. Another victim has life threatening injuries. Police say all the victims are men but have not released any other information on their identities. There are no suspects and the motive is unknown at this hour. It was ruled an accident. More than three months after that deadly limo fair on the san mateo bridge. Tonight we have some answers. Nbc bay areas Terry Mcsweeney joins us from the bridge on the cause of that fire and newly released 911 tames. Reporter we got a lot of answers in this report today. We now know how the fire started. How those five women died. We know who if anyone is to blame getting a lot of answers to a lot of questions. But not all of them yet. We have seen pictures of the burning limousine. Now we are hearing the sounds from the 911 call the night of may 4th. The voices of survivors and limo driver orville ricky brown. Investigators today revealed the cause of the tragedy was a collapse of the suspension in the rear of the vehicle. The heat and possible sparks generated from the rotating drive shaft and the underside of the floor pan beneath leading the edge of the rear seat, ignited the materials covering the floor board. Reporter the limo driver ricky browns estranged wife has told reporters, she was on the phone with him at the time of the crash. Not true, say investigators. Upon reveal of the cell phone records, chp and District Attorney investigators determined mr. Brown was not on his phone at the time of the tragedy. Reporter brown talked to reporters today. Its been stressful. Its been real stressful with the allegations. With requesting may phone records and all that stuff. Reporter five of the nine women inside died of smoke inhalation, trapped in the back of the limo. The rear is fully engulfed and the doors are long. Reporter investigators say video of that limo captured at sfo shows a door opening from the inside. Another video from the san mateo bridge toll plaza just before the fire shows nothing unusual with the rear of the vehicle. Some tragedies are crimes and some are not. This one is not. Reporter one big unanswered question is will there be civil its a as a result of this from the families of the five dead women. We know there is legislation proposed in sacramento that would require fire extinguishers in all him scenes and closer inspections of limos. San franciscos fair chief says the department will formally review its 4yearold policy banning video cameras in the field. The review comes after video from a battalion chiefs helmet cam captured a fair truck, fatally running over a teenager in the asiana plane crash at sfo. The chief said the departments 2009 policy prohibits firefighters from making video recordings in the field without permission citing it could violate patients bravecy rights. Following up on a story we first reported on saturday. Oakland police have tracked down a man they say opened fire outside a hair salon sending four people to the hospital. Officers have arrested 20yearold demetrius ward. He is facing several charges including one count of attempted murder. The victims had caught him trying to steal a purse from one of the cars on saturday afternoon. He initially ran off. Then returned. Police say thats when he started shooting. It is expected to remain closed for several hours. It doesnt happen on our local beaches. A young whale was stranded on stinson beach. 42 feet long. A pair of joggers discovered it about 6 30 this morning. They said the whale was still breathing and struggling in the sand. A crowd of about 200 people turned out. The Fire Department tried to figure out what to do themselves summoned some biologists from the Marine Center but the whale died before they could arrive. Many gathered said they were heart broken.
