Right now at 11 00, things got heated and people got kicked out. Alameda county sheriffs deputies called in to keep the peace at a school board meeting. There was nothing peaceful about it. Tempers continued to flare. A National Debate in our own backyard. Can the pride flag the flown on campus . What flags can be flown . The school board making that decision late tonight. Lets bring in Stephanie Magallon following this for us. Reporter it was a packed meeting. Everyone wanted to voice their opinion on a resolution that would basically allow only for the u. S. And the california flag flown here at the school. And that didnt sit well with people. [ yelling ] were going to end this meeting reporter as you saw, there were interruptions yelling and several calls for order. Just minutes after Public Comment began, deputies were asked to step in. And everyone in the audience except for media was kicked out to allow the board to continue the debate without interruptions. After everyone was asked to leave, the heated debate continued outside. Deputies were asked to go outside, as Community Members began to yell at one another. The Sheriffs Office had to stay on campus until everyone left with emotions running high. I was taught in a different america. I was taught that people saw a forerunner. A light in the darkness of the world. Now, were just turning on each other. This is something that needs to happen in all 900plus School Districts in california. We need to clarify that school is funded by taxpayers, californians under the state flag, and our United States of america, the red, white and blue flag, is the most inclusive flag that ever existed. Reporter as we reported earlier, this began after vandals ripped down a pride flag in june. The school put it on the flag pole that triggered complaints. And the new resolution that passed 21 late tonight. I spoke with the superintendent after the meeting. She tells me she was disappointed, considering that all of the staff was in support of having the pride flag here on campus. She tells me that the resolution is going to go into effect immediately. For the school there, k8 is public. Just the u. S. And california flag to be flown. Thank you. Serious allegations against a popular teacher in contra costa county. Kyle whitmore is behind bars facing Human Trafficking charges. We have details. Reporter he is outgoing. If you need someone to talk to, you go to him. He will give you incredible advice. He is talking about kyle whitmore, his track and field coach. A man previously known for his accolades as one of the top track and field coaches is now at the center of a Human Trafficking case. The district attorneys office, filing several charges against whitmore, for allegedly making two female victims commit crimes of prostitution. He also teaches at the college. And his sister is one of his students. People are calling me and texting me saying, what happened . And i just started tearing up a little bit. Reporter one of the victims is a dbc student, as she came forward with information to police. Whitmore has been placed o administrative leave following arrest. That started the investigation. Not only with police but the Sheriffs Office. Reporter for cornell, the charges do not match the man he has come to know over the years. For other students, its a wakeup call when it comes to campus safety. It makes you know that theres stuff going behind the scenes. Reporter whitmore is being held without bail. A protective order is in place to not contact the victims. His next court date is set for tuesday. They are making progress. This is video from napa county. A big vote in san jose giving city workers a substantial raise. But the mayor is against it. A live look in san jose, where the mayor is warning of budget cuts to pay for the salary hike. The city Council Voted to approve a new contract for 4,000 city employees. The employees will get a 14. 5 pay raise over the next three years. Mayor matt mahan made the sole vote against it. He said paying for the raise would make cuts elsewhere, and possibly get rid of crossing guards. I refuse to sign up for and endorse raises that are unsustainable that put us in a position of having to lay folks off and require reductions in the years ahead. The Workers Union disagrees. Saying their Research Shows the city has enough money to pay for the raises without making service cuts. The buzz is back in San Francisco. Will it stay that way . Tonight, thousands of people are in the city for the dreamforce conference, the Largest Convention of the year. But if it doesnt come back next year, businesses will be wondering what the city could have done differently. The mayor believes the dreamforce conference belongs in San Francisco. Lets move on now. If you happen to know where this guy is, Pittsburg Police want to hear from you. 19yearold ayman allen. He is wanted in connection with a deadly shooting. It happened july 14th in pittsburg. Several men shot into a moving car, killing a 24yearold passenger and wounding another man. Yesterday, officers arrested nine suspects after serving search parents in pittsburgh, antioch, oakley, and pleasant hill. Charges include murder, firearms violation and other drug related offenses. Its been two weeks since we learned that the officer that was fired for the shooting death of shawn montrossa. His sisters demanded the city keep this from happening. Reporter ashley tells me her family is going to keep fight ing for justice. And theyre going to make sure that the officers who have killed civilians will never be allowed to work in the streets again. Do not allow yourself to be on the wrong side of justice. Reporter she is asking the city to prevent the detective that killed her brother from coming back to work. He was dismissed after he shot her brother outside of a walgreens in june 2020. Last month, his decision was overturnedarbitration. The sisters made it feel like they were going backwards in the pursuit of justice for their brother. Its disappointing. Reporter tonight, they will be monitoring very closely. Right now, we are speaking about attorneys what level of force the monitors should be allowed to use. Against an officer that has used deadly force against unarmed citizens. Theres been a delay in the justice department. Reporter theres having a problem finding witnesses that were not Law Enforcement officers. We are asking on behalf of the family that anyone come forward. Reporter it is unclear when he will be back to work. We reached out to his attorney but havent heard back. Leaders will vote to raise division by 6 over the next five years. That equates to paying additional 322 annually. By 2027, students will pay nearly 2,000 more than now. The University Says the hikes are needed to help its 23 campuses, including San Francisco state, to keep up with rising costs. If approved, the hikes would likely start next fall.
