This morning, the texas coast is bracing for impact as Tropical Storm harvey threatens to become a category 1 hurricane by weeks end. Bringing heavy rain and flooding with it. Much of the area is under a hurricane watch. Volunteers near houston have begun filling sandbags for residents and bottled water is flying off the shelves as officials urge residents to prepare for the storm. Make sure that you have what you need, lanterns, flashlights, extra batteries, all of that. Especially food and water. And gas prices are on the rise as Oil Refineries brace for disruptions in production. This comes on the 25th anniversary of hurricane andrew, a devastating category 5 storm that slammed into florida. Killing 65 people. Bill karins is here with more on harvey and where its strengthening now. Good morning. The storm is more symmetrical and over the top of the warm water now. All the check marks are going off for the possibility of rapid intensification. Theres a new airplane heading into it. The last update was 45 miles per hour. And im sure its going to get it to 60 miles per hour. The Hurricane Center thinks it will get hurricane strength in th 24 hours or so. After that the issue will be a stalled system and an epic amount of rainfall from the south portions of texas possibly into even louisiana. Well deal with the storm surge and winds in about 36 hours from now and a rainfall problem until next week. A lot of models are pinpointing corp. Mi corpus christi.
