Im sam brock alongside kari hall and mike inouye. As we see, there are major problems in terms of folks and their commute. And their Public Safety as well. Lets talk about these closures. A live look as you showed a couple of seconds ago. This is 101. First you notice the roadway completely empty. That has happened at any bay area freeway at any time. This coming up towards 680 and 280. Usually this is the spot where we talk you about the first burst of traffic to san hoe is say. Do not worry. This is not a fire. This is industrial. This is exhaust coming off. This is the 280 680 coming off the golf course. This stretch of closure here until it reopens your alternate is 280 and 87. They will take you past all the closures. 87 typically is crowded during the morning commute. This is going to ripple down the south bay until this reopens. In addition to this full closure of highway 101, which is very, very unusual for any of that to have any problems, we are looking at farther south through morgan hill. Yesterday we covered this as it closed. Northbound 101 also closed. From what i understand, they expected it to open a short time ago. They open to clear in the next few minutes. Highway 101 is still closed in morgan hill and monterey road is your alternate. Big backup. This is folks traveling through the area. You see water on the ground as well. A lot of cleanup continued yesterday as traffic was flowing into the area for the afternoon commute and the evening commute. Again, the alternate for this is monterey road. We have a lot of rain to recover from i think in the area, kari. And that has been the main issue here. Look at where we are as far as the anderson reservoir. It flows into coyote lake and down to all the tributaries including coyote lake and some of the croaks that branch out from there into the south bay. It has never reached 13. 6 feet, which is the highest level we saw yesterday. The only record was 12. 8 feet. That happened in 1922. So we will have a flood concern of the next several days. Look at where it crested yesterday. It is currently at 11. 6 feet and will will tomorrow to slowly fall as with we head into tomorrow evening. But this is going to be a very slow process. We see it flooding farther north. S as we get a look at some of our reservoirs, coyote lake is at 108 , it will continue through the uvas and anderson reservoir. All are over 100 . As you get ready to head out, temperatures are much cooler as the roads are still wet. We have had patchy fog developing. Its 48 degrees in San Francisco with wet roads. Look at the north bay. Patchy fog. We drop down to 32 degrees. We will have to deal with freezing conditions out there on the roadways. As far as stormranger, our mobile Doppler Radar parked on san bruno mountain, it is not picking up on anything other than mist and drizzle. Coyote creek still under the Flood Warning. Allen rock, seven trees. Mainly all of these areas along coyote creek. As we get a closer look this includes 880 near wayne. And also as we head farther south it was mostly in this area near actually road. Farther south by collier avenue still included in that morning. On my way in i could see it creeping up onto brokaw road and 880. That will be another area were watching, sam. Mandatory evacuations under way in the city of san jose. We dont know exactly when we will have to pump out this water. This area is closed on 101 south right before you approach alum rock. They will start closing it at the northbound. Well have is an update in the next half hour. Ankle deep water there in the middle of the highway. That is not the only problem spot. 101 flooding in san jose. An issue of course. But moving southbound to morgan hill, crews spent the night trying to fix a separate problem, one that was hard to watch. The overflowing from nearby coyote creek causing lengthy closures. It was closed between cochran and bailey. It started yesterday afternoon. Crews are work to go try to put together a makeshift dam to put together robs and mud to stop the flow of all of this water coming out of the coyote creek. The legwork is now done. The freeway is still closed. Because the creek is so high, we have so much water coming into the canal, it is is overtopping. We found a weak link. The santa clara Water District said 2,000 tons of material had to be trucked in. You see all the rock trying to stop the erosion. You can see all the latest on our flooding on the app. If you have that make sure if you dont have it go and download it. We keep it updated every minute, every hour.
