It one space I spoke with there were 17 people living under one roof and so yeah I think it's an interesting trend and I think it does a lot of the times who doesn't double what do these places look like in general you know it runs the gamut I mean some are you know. Additional apartment complexes but what's really interesting is that a lot of them tend to have a lot of luxury elements are things that you would only see at a luxury hotel or resort have to stop pools and I think it's really important to for experience craving millennial that you have these images right there some of them have like rooftop pool tall or work like work area as. You know the room some of the rooms are smaller obviously but also some are really large and what's really interesting is that people are choosing to live here who are they're paying you know they could afford to buy their own or pay rent in their own apartment their choosing to to live with these roommates and these communal environments are not that I find really interesting so it's the only private area your own personal bedrooms that's that's the idea that you're sharing a kitchen and you're sharing a bathroom in a lot of cases and and what I've heard people say is sure is you know just having the privacy of your own bedroom for a lot of them is enough. Some of the cases that I've talked to differ developed code words so if you're not really in the mood to talk to strangers you just say that code word and you know they get it they pick up on it and they leave you alone so I think that you know you have the privacy when you want it but also instead of having to go to a bar or club or a lab or look up somewhere on Google to go you can just go to your living room to meet somebody maybe somebody new. And so that I think that people find it really exciting we're speaking with Devon Brown of USA Today to me this sounds a little bit. Not fun when it comes to things like keeping the kitchen clean or keeping the bathroom clean or all the problems that you had to do when you had a roommate Yeah I mean I think you know a lot of people. Compared to adult dorm rooms and I think that's very fair Yeah and that was one of my interests diving into this but what's really. Sort of forward thinking is that these young adults have gotten together and said hey we don't want these problems so what can we do to mitigate that and so. I have a maid come in once a week to clean up everything so people don't have to and then you know obviously they emphasize communication so if there is a problem you know talking about it and addressing it but but even beyond that before you even interest some of the spaces there's so much vetting that that can happen one of the companies that I spoke with called Lightning society back shortly interviewed people and sort of present new members to the house. And so the house sort of gets a vote or has a word in on whether whether they think that person is a good fit culturally for the space. So they try to mitigate those sort of pain points as best as possible I mean I'm sure and certain things to laugh at and you know but at least they're being sort of thoughtful thoughtful about sounds a little bit actually. You know about the landlord they companies are they private people who's running the thing so it's a mixed it's a mixed bag so you have companies like we work. Getting into this space with their with the we live division you have lots of start up one called fin that is booked 2 for for the article in a they own multiple properties throughout Brooklyn and so by being a member you get access to all these different ministries in the different properties and then you have a lightning society which was started by 22 founders who were essentially roommates I think and they bought the space out for events and decided you know.
