You know I we were both working for a time with the Dr rigor Michel foundation for research into extraterrestrial and extraordinary experiences and we contacted the abducted phenomenon and we kind of got acquainted in some of the conference calls and I had interviewed her a number of times for my online magazine alternate perceptions and so when I was putting together the book I. You know contact her to see if she would be interested as she had a a publishing company there in Connecticut and she was and she helped me a lot with not only you know doing the going through the book and making corrections and making suggestions but of where to put all the different material and pictures but also in God since she knew John Keel personally. You know I interviewed her for the the book and also she recommended some other people that she knew who had been acquainted with keels that we can get more background information and so the book is is you know biographical and part of that it's also about people who do keel in the influence they had on various serious researchers and and myself from from an early age the book also and includes a dedication to your parents who were incredibly supportive this really blew my mind when I was reading the book he were barely a teenager in the 1960 s. And your father was driving you hundreds and hundreds of miles anywhere you wanted to go to meet a contact and he would take you incredible Tell me about that. Well you know I had read Brad Steiger's book The Korean revelations and in it. It was mainly concerning a mother. Or experience or contact experiencers that he had met and actually had seen some act some unusual lights in the sky. But they were from Kandar up in British club Colombia I believe but there was a couple pages that mentioned a contact experience or in Toronto you're your neck of the woods and her name was Joan Howard she was from England and she was like a natural born psychic medium and during a a wave of activity across Canada back in July 1968 she was one of those people who had an experience where she felt that she had undergone a contact with aliens and so I read this I was intrigued ahead and at that time actually met anybody who was a contact experience or 1st hand so I was I was interested in this and my dad was willing to take me up to you know to Ronald to meet this lady and so I spent several hours and met her and her husband. As our members name was Walter and he was from West Virginia and he had some unusual stories to share as well and she claimed that she would sit down with the tenant paper and write messages from these various space beings that she felt they were your father told you all the way from your home in Maine all the way to Toronto. Yes sir they also drove me once to sister's Villa West Virginia or just sort of on a whim we would always go on on the weekend particularly on on Sundays for an afternoon drive but sometimes we never knew just where we would think it might end up that he also took me to Kenya Hampshire. I remember there was but it was January 967. There were quite a number of ports listed across United States I saw the key New Hampshire and I had no other information other than Keene New Hampshire a certain date in January 1907 so we took off and lo and behold somehow I I found this this house out in the country on a hilltop where this family lived and they were the ones that had had this sighting and I mean to just stopping in asking anyone track your city u.f.o. If I leave it up the right place. If you have any idea where you were going with this Could you imagine that this might be become a career in which your parents make me did they share your interest or were they just saying well you know young Brant seems to like this let's just support him. Well you know I met my father I was very supportive my momma snake at times thought maybe I was a little crazy and know that I needed to devote my focus and interest in areas that would be. More productive you know go to college get yourself. A certificate or degree or some to do something with white besides u.f.o. Jim but. But nonetheless they they were quite quite supportive and. And. You know they did all these things it was really very wonderful i'm so I felt you know I'm writing this book they were. You know they suffered through . Various phases of it I know my dad at times was a little concerned you know that I was going to ever settle down with this you know and get productive but here I am in Tennessee got married and got a daughter everything's good well it's a touching. Dedication so late sixty's I think you're about 14 and you strike up a correspondence with the man himself John Kiel how did that begin. Well actually I got in the field at age 14 and in January of 67 I had just read Frank it was flying saucer serious business and at that time I was you know in the book steered you in a direction that was extraterrestrial nuts and bolts that's it should and so I had that tunnel vision focus in the beginning and I began collecting all the clipping using magazine articles books whatever I could get ahold of started corresponding with people and at that time Kiel hadn't had any books on u.f.o.s. Written but he was writing a lot of articles. In magazines so I. Had read a number of the articles it was an alternative thought provoking direction he was taking he was talking more about. More of a simplified version quantum physics the electromagnetic spectrum that this there was some sort of interactive intelligence that we could actually be Earth based what he you know referred to as ultra terrestrials which I understand came from his who all just friend. Ivan Sanderson. Who also studied u.f.o. Zz and Bigfoot and so they had these interest and in common and and so anyway it. I thought well this was I was kind of resistant 1st but the more I read the more intrigued I got was his ideas that the paranormal. Was interconnected in fact he actually wrote at one time that he felt that the fall of G.'s should be a branch of parasitology and and of course decrypted and so I actually struck up correspondence with him in October of 1969 and. For about 2 years there we were exchanging quite a few letters in fact I've just recently donated to his friend Doug Skinner in New York who maintains the John Keel dot com website. The letters that we had to exchanged and thinking that you know he might. Like to post them for other people to read and you know kind of encouraging other people that maybe corresponded with Keeler early on to do the same because he's got a lot of correspondence that he'll have with many different researchers right now he's concentrating heavily on coral in general Renton of the aerial phenomena research organization and so Doug Skinner tried to save all the material he could. But there's a lot I'm afraid that you know slipped through the cracks and so it fit. Different researches out there I know hack and blankets of of Sweden who archives a lot of material they have. A group over there that's collecting material from all over the world and kills one of someone that they certainly have focused a lot of their attention on and I know he asked me just the other day how to get in touch with. Doug skitter so that he could contribute things I'm sure. And in your correspondence with Kiel in 169 How much of that correspondence dealt with. What took place. Regarding this ring creature in West Virginia in 6667 how much about how much did you know about it and how much of that was discussed in your correspondence well in the beginning I knew just you know a little about it. But over time it was there was more and more that came out initially it was mainly about the ultra trust rules flash elementals that's what they used to be refer to going back centuries sleaze various. That could shape shifter you know trickster type beings he said. He got heavily into comparative. Research multi-disciplinary areas folklore and. Religious Marian apparitions to demonology nothing hardly was was off limit in his search and so he wrote about all these different areas not just the strange creatures. Was a gentleman who out in Mecca out of New Mexico who had this neighbor who had actually seen this Mossman type creature and actually got a look at its face of it had fags and was a swing creature and he was really up close he had as he just had his dog outside to. Use the bathroom and the sling just flew down by them and his dog got behind him it was the dog was scared and. And I was telling the keel with details of this and he said wow that that was quite a case and he said I hadn't heard of anything out there and then I was telling them about I had recently also discovered that around the time that all this. Nuff man stuff was going on around Point Pleasant that can 66 or 67 but also back in the sixty's in the seventy's that people here in Tennessee overplays call Madisonville I found out I talked to a reporter and editor for a paper over there but said that. They were having reports of people seeing these large birds and some claim that when they landed they were like 67 feet tall and walk like a man and you know I got one in which it sounds. Pretty. Pretty much like what was going on and Point Pleasant right right leads me to think maybe it was a franchise. But you know if we're going to circle back to the Mothman a little a little bit later after the break in fact we're coming up in the Upon the bottom of the hour but it's just remarkable to me how you know John Keel again being ahead of the curve is never always a good thing and he certainly was that but that came with you know. A lot of criticism and maybe even some ridicule but now it seems like the world is catching up with John Keel Would you agree I agree I agree Richard it's you know he . I think if he was here now and he was writing his idea years his research best to geishas as he was right about now I think you'd be a They'd be a lot more receptive I mean you know a lot has changed in recent years and all the people talking over the research the scientists talking about quantum physics. So let's spend a good chunk of this segment discussing the actual mof man incident back in November of 1966 because people may not be aware that if they've seen the movie the 2002 movie with Richard Gere The Mothman Prophecies. That really took a lot of liberties with keels 1975 book but let's just kind of give us give us the the Reader's Digest Gratian of the events involving oil Linda and Roger sky Barry light it was legendary Roger sky Barry This was November 15th of 966 it was an all World War 2. I mean ition storage area that was several miles north of Point Pleasant West Virginia it was you had to go up on this route 62 to get to it and then another couple they were all together in the same car Roger Scott Barry was the driver I think in a 57 Chevy and they were just driving around in this area and. They suddenly came upon this this bird very unusual bird with was maybe 6 or 7 feet tall had large wingspan and. Eyes that were when they could see the eyes they were like shiny red eyes and they were quite frightened by this and took off the sling rose into the air and flew over the top of their car as they're going down 60 to get it to a Point Pleasant and at one point they could see one wing on one side of the car and the other wing on the other side so I was right over them and quite a logic of Easley and they were at one point supposedly going about 100 miles an hour. Very fast and when they got into Point Pleasant they went straight to the police station and reported to an officer there at the desk what it transpired. And this was the beginning John Kiel happened to be in West Virginia at the time he was investigating for a story for a syndicated newspaper column that he he was doing back then and it was simply a report of a. Somebody had a cat that had sort of like wing like appendages or something and he thought he'd get down investigate the story kind of a human interest feature and he got wind of the. Bird is what they called it initially eventually as the story got bigger and bigger and it was in the newspapers some writer decided that calling it most men would become a kind of cool because at that time Batman was popular t.v. Series so why not have a muffin man. So anyway he wins me x. He's a brand and in the original sightings were initially dismissed as a san. Some sort of a sandhill crane or an owl Yes a sandhill crane an owl and as more witnesses came for 2 or more sightings. You know the witnesses were like. Indignant about it this was we know the difference between essential Cranor are now and this was much larger and much more unusual and so Keil in 1907 he made a total of 5 visits to the area or and went around talking with witnesses he had the help of. A local newspaper lady named Mary hire who had an office there in Point Pleasant and she would also accompany. On many of the interviews that he'd go out to do as well as accompany him on Sky watches that he conducted. He would locate an area with a good view it was one in Gallup's ferry nearby and he would get up on this high hilltop and. It offered him of a view of the landscape you would even see the Ohio River and he actually had quite a number of sightings he would even notice even notice that some of the boats going up and down the Ohio would see these lights lying around and they would shine a spotlight at it and it would jump out of the way and he said that he went down and talked to some of the riverboat people and was told that yeah they had been they had been doing this this is the going on for years and then one morning it was early morning and about April 3rd and 1987 he was in his his car and he was listening to other radio to Long John Neville of New York City who was the original bill for that time and. He was chewing on a candy bar and all of a sudden this don't looking disc shaped craft for these. Lights on it came flying by his car and headed toward a nearby reveal. And this so shook him up that. He locked all the doors and he. Lists was something for Kiel he didn't know why he reacted was with been so frightened by this because he was used to being out late at night in exploring the t.m.t. Area which is quite a spooky area. Or cemeteries with him for you know evidence of any kind of strange activity u.f.o. Paranormal and. He had been shining his flashlight it at some of these U.F.O.'s and he wrote in this little notepad. That. Is reproduced on the. John Keel dot com website and I also reproduced out of the notepad of tells about a sighting in my book. And he said he expected to see these little men come dropping out of the bushes there and complain to want to know why you look at the spin shining the lights out of the house but anyway he. Says next day he had the police. Come over and they they all went together to this Riviera looking for any kind of trace evidence or. You know. Radioactivity they had actually brought a Geiger counter with them and didn't find anything unusual although there was. A voice that came through the police car radio which was turned off and somehow it suddenly came alive and there was this.
