And we got here at about 4 00 and since then weve seen a total of three of those private security guards, one set of two. They walked down and back along the mall, and another one looked like he was reporting for work. We saw a pair of officers make contact with what be a homeless man. They talked with him for a little while. After talking to them, he continued on his way. They continued to patrol. That comes back to the question of authority here, with their blue security shirts, but no firearms, just pepper spray and handcuffs. The question many people have, is this going to make a difference . In the wake of the violent videos, the Downtown Denver Partnership, they decided to hire their own Security Force they wont replace the police. So far this morning, we have seen the private security. We have yet to see members of dpd down here. The Downtown Denver Partnership will not tell us and they do not have specific numbers for how many officers or security guards are going to be down here at any specific point, and when it comes to responding, theyre here to just enforce local ordinances. They cant make arrests on anything more than a citizens arrest, which is what you or i could do. The question remains, is it going to make a here . The Douglas County school board has been at the center of controversy already, and theyre now down a board member. The board member resigned yesterday but failed to give a reason. The student last year claimed the board president and another director bullied her. His resignation takes away the boards majority. District is now facing two Racial Discrimination lawsuits. The claims come from the people, two f them, who were brought in to help combat discrimination. Dr. Robyn mondragon says she was fired when she started asking questions about the complaints, from Sexual Harassment to discriminatory remarks. Our investigators here at denver 7 contacted district administrators, and they say they wont talk about pending litigation, but this statement. The district has always complied with all laws applicable to our work and well vigorously defend the district and our board of education.
