I hadn't come to Christ at that point no it was that the end of my 2nd marriage is when I had a dear friend her husband played for the Colorado Rockies they were from Shreveport Louisiana and he got traded over to the Cubs and I went out to see them and she knew what was going on and her mom was in town visiting in Chicago as well and they literally like got me down on my knees and I've never ever been prayed over like that from anyone and I mean I was raised Catholic I was like oh my gosh what is happening but they just like and then they started showing me the promises of God and they introduced me to the Bible I mean really didn't know how to look up a verse and it saved my life and you know at that point I had accepted Christ and the walk at the beginning was not an easy walk I was still Tracy but all Tracy was like trying to transition to what the new Jesus thing was but then I I honestly thought I was in going to survive I thought I was going to die in this marriage because it was so abusive your 2nd marriage my 2nd marriage and then like I said it was the end of that marriage and. I didn't I don't know I thought if I'm not going to make it in this world I need to know Jesus and I was like on a fast track Jesus went to one class like like tell me everything I need to know as much as you can just in case I don't survive here you've got 4 kids and you thought that you might be killed in this marriage Yes Yes So you know I just I just didn't think I was going to make it so I thought if I didn't make it I knew my kids would be Ok if they knew Jesus and I knew I'd be Ok and I knew where I'd be go and you know it before that I didn't know. And I would just live in you know and how did you get out because some women don't make it out and we hear stories about women who try to leave and interestingly enough my mom has 4 kids and that's when she finally decided to leave she thought that my dad at the time who was abusive in his 1st marriage to her but not in his 2nd interestingly enough. That that he would kill her and that there'd be no one to raise the kids so how were you able to get out of your marriage and you said you separate Christ before you left the marriage I did like 3 months before. It was just 1 September abusive day and my neighbors were out and they kind of witnessed a whole bunch of things that were going down that day and I thought I was going to die that day and I called 911 and that kind of like snowballed into Paletta things of. He got arrested and it wasn't good you know well known in Colorado and it was just it was just a train wreck getting ready to just go down straight and that kind of started the whole thing and he was never able to come back but I pretty much lost everything through that process and to a long time because I've never really been in a situation where. I was that broken and broke and broke we're talking you know we laugh about it now. The kids and I but we laugh about like you know we didn't know how we were going to get gas in the car we we laugh about like being so excited to find enough change to get a Taco Bell burrito I mean that's how bad it was and it was it was really hard but thank goodness I still had Katie that was talking to me on a daily basis friend of Right right right and and then I landed in a church where my pastor ended up being he kind of adopted me and his wife and and Rachel knows who he is and so they kind of took me under their wing and and started helping me with that Jesus went to one track and and then my kids they you know ended up being like grandparents to my children and they were mentors and Dale and my oldest that lives in Austin Texas Texas right now just he just graduated from Dallas Theological Seminary. And it's just you look at it now and I like him keep on saying it was it was all God you know I would put God at the table with us like being my husband because you know like the head of the table was always God would always pray it didn't matter if it were at a restaurant or not I mean it was a foreign world to me at that point but I had to be 10 my God Was that right with us and that I needed him to Father them because I couldn't father yeah what's amazing to is I was just thinking as your talk and little did I know years ago when I met you and news and then I met you Tracy when we went across the way to write it in place. And Uncle you Tracy in or just introduced us before you worked at Crawford and we had lunch and then you were talking about Ben your vision to be on recruiting radio how God was seeing that transition right because I was that I was here in Denver secular station Yeah and I just think it's amazing now I'm sitting here thinking wow now I am. Taking part in a radio show with Angie and Tracy right there how amazing is God to direct our steps like this yeah and to 2 I was in secular t.v. And to get into Christian radio and bring Eric a lot along side us there grammar if you're just joining us Tracey rock part of the good news team has her own show but she's sharing her testimony right now here on the good news and I knew some of it but you know we don't we get snippets of people's testimonies and I think it's this these mini miracle stories you know of her not knowing Christ and then being able to get out of that abusive marriage and to be alive to survive it and you know same thing with my mom being able to survive her marriage and you know my dad being absent from my life for I don't know 35 years or so and then reuniting with him 7 years ago and getting those wonderful years with him sober and with my kids getting to know him as a completely different person that was really a gift so I think the Lord can work in interesting ways and to bring Tracy had a secular radio me out of secular t.v. Eric out of many different careers and you know you who work with me Rachel Maines is my floor director in t.v. For us all to be here now to gather special Yeah absolutely it is it is we don't take any of it for granted and you know that to push that onto her listeners you probably have whole bunch of things in your life that you might just skim over but slow down for just a moment take a look find the connections and you'll probably be able to connect the dots straight up to the Lord. I love that you are right so our producer Nicole is here as well and she's got a good news story for us and involves a church I believe helping out a gentleman and that's one thing one theme here on the good news we've tried to highlight over the years the power of one that we're all like well I'm not Bill Gates i'm not be so slick I don't have the money to do all this stuff but it doesn't take a lot of money to be kind to others and it could be just you the power of one alone doing it or an organization you're with so what's the lowdown on this producer Nicole so it's actually it's a Catholic school and so it's the kids they saw a news story that was done previously about a homeless man and what he was going through and so the kids at the Catholic school they wanted to do something for him that's this clip that's right. It's fast the post mark j. We are praying for you the mail sent to Jamie p.s. Your dog is adorable still delivers a punch and I was in a really dark place I didn't have hope their hope is what got me through their hope last years 5th grade class you truly are a hero at visitation school story and we really felt like he needed some support the story. Telling Carol Levin report last January about a homeless j. Mitchell who opted to sleep in his truck down a 30 below night rather than interest shelter there we go without his dog you is all I had all j. Had after losing in quick succession like that his construction job to a bad hip is home to a big and his white cat to cancer I'm so lost without her losing even his toes that's what frostbite does in those nights Jay spent with hero in his truck he risked his life and everything he had just for his dog because it was the one thing special to my buddy never more evident a little but then the February day. I love you too for Jay and hero were reunited at the hospital. Right rare loyalty that earned their admiration thank you for showing me this fear can get in the way of passion as a teacher we talk a lot about kindness we study it we read about it there Jamie actually hero these kids really took that and and made it we all need to recharge every human being if they're going to Richard Mattick tough time and I don't know where mine was going to come from and the Lord did it through a 5th grade class j. Called visitation wanting to stop by to say thank you but school answered his name is Mary with the perv. You're welcome to our animal blessing when you go there you go see Francis patron saint of animals fish cats down * and I can report is that you get those Oh sure oh my word yes there we go and you hear oh by the intercession of St Francis of Assisi may you be delivered from all harm a man came in 9 months ago j. Mitchell weed on the kids on her own hit bottom you can pet him credit the visitation students still live to Gary certainly you want everybody and what is a hero here. Boy who would care a livin news Mendota what. Right well that's a good one. You know I love it you know the connection between man and animal 30 below he'd stay in the truck with him you know I don't know that I would be able to do that he couldn't bring the dog inside so he thought the dog might die it really left him in the car alone I don't know I mean can you keep each other warm me me obviously a lot of them but you know. Right yeah you know. They're coming with love and compassion for an animal as is almost supernatural my my folks my parents have there are just animal lovers and I get that too but they feed the squirrels in the fur I understand you and this is one squirrel that is injured so they actually took the time to open up the peanuts so that this girl can eat gets even to endure it so Q I am like that too just like head over heels for animals I'm always afraid that the squirrels at my house are going to get like have cavities because we'll put it out like. That and other than that I mean the kids of the pistachio muffins they're like green they got stale so we put they always out or like you know a little bites a little my don't know I haven't brushed my teeth abrasions are you still here and you know Rachel scattered probably for me but we'll put out stuff and it really might be like leftover pie you know whatever it was it's bread sometimes too and the birds come down in a super fast this world no actually surprisingly they're not and they could they came with 3 or 4 babies you know in the spring and now it's just a couple of the babysitter around the area and yeah so they have bad food and they really like to read always like the end of the bag to read only to eat oh yeah and that's the 1st thing I realize how addictive and how chemically they are because that's the 1st thing in they'll choose if I have bread in a bunch of I. Don't have a whole spread out there like a buffet for the birds on the squirrels and I put it out of my doc on the highest railing is if I'm not yet my chair is over your house there's. I have big windows right can sit and have my coffee and watch some obvious if it was that was correctly you're concerned about the squirrels or the mix. The gentle or gentle Sheen hygiene Yeah Health did the plague ever come up in any of this no of course not. You know they don't really play don't stay on the deck when I come out to feed them of a jump off the deck like a flying sugar squirrel or whatever like a flying squirrel yet now think they are flying snow they can't be a fortnight they fly off the jack their sugar gliders in their yards to South America well that the squirrels do fly off my jacket my husbands like what. To do I go well they don't stay up there when I come outside to put the food out you know we do the same thing right off of the studio you know it's a fortunate thing these windows don't open yes or do we risk yet or we scatter about yeah I worry about their dental health yeah I love animals I have a cute animal story that I posted on my Facebook page my good news story of a lion tiger in Bear who are best friends they got rescued lames at tigers and bears. Is about time we go to the store very well it's just so cute I put on my Facebook page and what happened to the 2 cubs the lion in the Tiger they were. With drug dealers and the drug dealers got caught and with that they were in cages and they got taken to this animal rescue place and the bear was already there and they just bonded they thought well surely when they grow up you know get older they're going to have to be separate separate But you know the whole life the whole life there's just a lot of teeth. Right there and this is the cutest brotherly watching all 3 of them it's the cutest thing so good Rachel means my Facebook page if you want to see the story Rachel Maines their heads are all together they're not sling like that you know why and on either side banner there in the headline says something about super glue. Together they get it I do love did you hear about the tiger and the goat now the goat just passed away so I'm sure he thinks what we know I know you think that he would tell you they're about to start really really walk into a bar no they just want to. Thank you but if you eat in a go but they became friends and now the goat was kind of rambunctious they would jump on him and the tiger Herdman is coming Ok that story yes well they did have to separate him because the goat was too rambunctious and would jump on the lion and a lion kind of beat him up like you know he was a little too rough form but he didn't eat them when he was trying to herd em like you know you know like what has to be fair go to the court oh you are not right now how about that the bear that just got turned in in China they had him for 2 years he thought he was a dog and they're like little you know getting a piece of they find him in the forest and this was a store owner trying to and they finally had to give the bear up because they started to realize it wasn't a dog because we really think it was going to war Ira if you are the captain for 2 years you know like we start to get suspicious he's going to get really big you know he might not. Get the size of your. Right yeah 2 years old though if they thought that's how long they kept him did they release him to the well or the. Been raised by Yamla he had to go to a sanctuary I can't let him loose if he thinks he's like your dog right now you know oh. I don't care what the leader of The Bachelor did he know I put up with every day I didn't love a good movie Animal 3 and it's a sheep that the other was raised with collies and it really did think it was a dog and a sheep ran like a dog and chased the other dogs are just amazing to me how they can start to believe they're one of you like my cat thinks he's part of our family I write this like a dog and chooses like a dog that it must be a dog right you are not right in the head all right so if you want to reach out to anyone on our good news team Eric does p.r. And general manager of Via Sat and they are out of Texas so just being from Texas Cody you get big props Welcome to the show Sir Mike thanks a bunch for having me appreciate your stated time you're going to talk about a little internet Yeah well you know the interesting thing here is has read in the prep work there's a paragraph that starts a single damage cable can mean lost revenue I have to tell you a couple days ago I had a cable just crash on me I don't know where a u.s.b. Cable that was vital to connect to my router and I was out of business for a few hours until I could get a store to open up and get one so you guys are talking about something very different something very innovative and something I think is going to be really important let's let's talk about what via said does. Absolutely so you know bias that bias has been in business now for about 33 years so. We've evolved a lot over that time frame recently here what we did is we build our own satellites we launch them into space we build our own ground networks and we've built all the components in between and we provide our own satellite Internet connectivity to businesses to residents to air airplanes we do imply wife so you know we we provide Internet access in a lot of places and you know like you said that that cable. May not just may not just be a u.s.b. Cable it could be a backhoe you know over at your neighbors your neighbor's place and they dig into the fire line or it could be a natural disaster or hurricane or North click or bar things you know lots of things can bring down your primary connection and the super nice thing about bias that Internet connection is that when when our internet connection leaves your facility it goes up to our satellite in space and comes down in a completely different part of the country to get on the internet so any kind of local event to your business won't bring down our Internet connectivity to your business so that means when your when your area is you know facing trouble or an Internet outage in your customers need connectivity or they need to get ahold of your business you'll be online and operational. You know that's the kind of just try to head to you know satellite connectivity being a great secondary connection but it's a great primary connection for a lot of customers as well yeah it's a big deal especially for people are outside of urban areas and there are a ton of us who are not exactly in the high density urban areas and we need something to connect to the internet I can tell you how spot on you are about losing internet costing money anybody who'd who makes their living by using the Internet has to consider satellite delivery of Internet as a possible primary and secondary backup. What makes it. I guess what makes it. An important backbone in a natural disaster situation. So you know it's natural disasters for sure you know we can install a service in about $2.00 to $5.00 business days so it can be installed really quickly so if you know if you're in an area where you know you've got a natural disaster and then you know bearing down on you that you can call and have a service order before it gets to you. But then also if something has happened you can call and get our service installed within a few days typically So those are those are great options in a natural disaster right now but also in a recent survey we did we found that 20 percent of business customers experience an outage of some sort daily and 80 percent monthly So you know it's just you know the nature of a lot of Internet connections do is they can go up and down you know depending on you know certain events whether it's the router and I asked these data center or cable cars or who knows what but you know those outages like you said cost this is real money according to Forbes It could be up to $5600.00 per minute for a business to be down if they lose their website they lose the lifeline to all their customers and they can't process transactions. It can be a big deal in a secondary connection can pay for itself many times over but you know you also talked about a primary connection and you know satellite connectivity is a primary Internet connection is great if you can't get cable or fiber if you're out of the out of the reach of cable or out of the reach of the fabric connection and satellite is an awesome primary Internet connection we have speed up 100 megabits per 2nd in some areas and then 30 and I guess for 2nd and pretty much you know every square inch of the rest of the country that's amazing talk to Colby Catalina Cody Catalina I'm sorry I don't like to Coby Cody Catalina. Via Sat Global Business Solutions talking about satellite connection to the Internet Cody of people want to know Morse the best place to go via sat dot com. Absolutely just go to. Dot com. Dot com and click on business Internet and you'll find out a lot more about it I keep screwing it up it's via send via send thanks for being patient with me today Cody appreciate your. Phone from my case thanks for having me again appreciate it. Heyy friend Angie Austin here you know with the holidays right around the corner we've got some recent survey results that predict the 21000 holiday shopping season will bring in a record 136000000000 in sales and sadly enough a lot of us will come from my family here to join us to talk about this is Rob gar he oversees the industry strategy and insights and sales force which I'm familiar with because my husband's company has started up they went public used a sales force that's a great great help to his business Welcome Rob Well thanks for having me here and just such a pleasure All right so let's talk about the takeaways from the recent survey and what we should expect to see this holiday shopping season Yeah well you had upon one of the headlines which is it's going to help these scenes in but equally in digital with 13 percent year over year growth but you know what's real unique this holiday season engineers that we have 60 were days between Christmas and Thanksgiving so we went out to really understand impact and sort of a $10000.00 consumers around the world to understand how they're going to change their shopping and what retailers are going to do to entice them all and often just I think one thing out action that we can move on which is retailers are looking to extend the holiday given the shortened time frame before and after before you know we've seen it seems that the season of what I call discount chicken in terms of warning to consumers or earlier we have discounts what we're finding this year already is new and creative ways to try to drum up demand whether that is exclusive merchandise or social promotions only or. Abberations with celebrities or well ourselves we don't want to create some scarcity and some exclusivity or an earlier on in the season you know I noticed one of my favorite big big stories discount stores is doing like the Black Friday stuff starting early and I think a lot of people didn't realize about the whole shortened shopping season I was looking for tickets to fly for Thanksgiving I'm like why are these so cheap and then I double checked it was like oh my gosh it's like a week later than I'm used to you know Thanksgiving being so that takes about a week away from the shopping so they're just starting out early then that's what but you know what as consumers you and me we don't think about that as you just mentioned So what's going to happen is many of us are going to wake up after the holiday when you consider Oh I did not scramble I need to get those last minute or just so again that's what retailers are doing really trying to create some visibility and drum up the demand or really are on now what we're finding is retailers are also into trying to really fix the on the holiday through extended shipping on the other side Thanksgiving because the shipping window and for a ground shipping is the summer 14th consumers are going to run out of time to buy online and get it delivered don't know what we're finding is you know the phenomenon of reserving it online and picking up at the store those retailers that are offering that service can extend beyond December 14th away to like the summer 23rd if you think about it for consumers to buy with the confidence online and then with the convenience of picking it up in the store you know I have to say that super handy because I've done that a few times and you don't have to go through the whole store looking for it you just order it in the go right to the desk right by the front door and pick it up so it really does simplify things and I thought I find a lot of times I'm wandering through the store trying to find something so that takes that you know wasted time out of the equation so let's talk a little bit about the brick and mortar stores where you walk in and try things on versus online shopping yeah absolutely. Well you hit upon a really interesting point right you're going to the store and you're not alone by the way I'm with you and actually do some research even 40 percent of consumers will go in physical store this holiday not just to pick up the merchandise they buy online but because for me anyway it's not a simple fact I want to understand it that I want to touch and feel the product I want to be able to talk to a knowledgeable store associate But also if you think about it returns as well all research showed that 2 thirds of consumers are going to the store to return a product actually buy something else I was just in the store the other day return something and that retailer provided me a discount that was good for only 3 hours wide because they want me to buy something while I'm actually in there Ok that is so cool I love that idea and you know I have to say because I have been I have become a big online shopping person but when it comes to clothes and certain things I really like to try them on see them touch them because I have had a couple of issues like if you know the store and you trust it right you know the quality is probably going to be good but if you're going to a big general store or you know shopping like many of us do let's be honest you know I like on when I go to Amazon right well I might get someone on Amazon that's a 3rd party and then it's a whole nother animal because you don't know what their return process is it's a little more complicated and then also you don't really know about quality so one thing I've come to maybe change a little this year is going from totally online shopping to now I'm really going into more stores for a couple of reasons I want the stores to stay around and I also want to with clothing in particular try it on and touch the fabric and see with the quality is so I don't get some crummy quality things sent to one of my loved ones yet you're on a really important point it's really a blend of the physical and digital it's not one of the other but it's really provided not convenience that personalization I mean younger generations say it's all research certainly like to do well but they also like to go into the store and . The social experience of actually going along Believe it or not the spite all the headlines you say about the younger generation millennia old Geneses they're not only going online they're doing it via their phone and they're also not just going to the Web sites but they're getting inspired on these 3rd party to nations like social and messaging they're even using voice and through my 13 year old you're actually seeing product in different demon consuls if you will so it's important for the real retailers to push the brands to where they are not in 1st that in fact of digital sales will happen on this point and younger generations are the ring at a half times more likely to purchase on these platforms really you know my son he's 14 he set up a business and he uses several apps and he resells like high end tennis shoes so I'm constantly going to u.p.s. Because he can't drive and dropping off boxes where he's reselling shoes either he's worn or he's picked up or you know he's purchased and he can sell for more and it's all done on these apps where you know what good for you and I know you aren't going to hear but it's this idea of the sharing economy that is emerging with the younger generations and I do give him a lot of credit because he's not only looking like making some money in a business out of it but he's focusing on sustainability and we're either getting those products into when filled by the at 26000000000 pounds and you're going into landfills and actually reselling it it's a whole business that we're seeing we're seeing in the retail space I love that you know we're almost out of time but there was one more question I was really interested in what about flash sales limited edition sales you mentioned that discount when you did a return and then we're seeing the younger people use these like social media exclusive deals so what should we expect in that arena. Deals are certainly going to Flora's this holiday like I talked about before happening earlier and earlier I feel like I've seen them since the beginning of the fall I would urge your listener . To think about fiber Monday where it's been not the discount rate so the patient is you're looking quick on that out open that mail and you can put stuff in your shopping cart your retailers are getting smarter about shopping behavior but you can lart the retailers by clicking on one of their promotions weeding a day or 2 and don't be surprised if you get in you know with a discount for some of that same merchandise you were considering noted by tricky Rob I like that all right we're little and I don't like about our Where do we go for more info you can check me out online or at Twitter retail Rock I'll be updating all this great stuff through up all of it I feel and thank you Rob was fun thank you Anthony always a pleasure and happy shopping. Till his daughter Sarah called the former computer executive one day and said Dad can you make me a tape so he had only dabbled in would work. 241 of. That many. Built over 2000. 0 just. To come over to get it I literally on imitation was as honest as this I'll have live music bring a beverage bring a dish to share and we'll have a part like 91 people showed up that night stop and in that moment I realized people just want to be invited and they want to be a part of things she had just quit her job was looking for something new there. Her heart told her to start a business based on a very old idea I think 2000 years ago we were given this invitation to lead our neighbors and I want to take that to higher neighbors table was born tables meant to serve much more than food everyone got a place settings to Bangor Maine How does this fit in to how divisive it feels in the country right now our culture right now is figuring out how my different from you know what a table does it's like this great equalizer and it says how am I similarity. And I'm vite people to do a lot of listening at the table. Delivers them all and today she brought one to Shannon and Burton's place outside of Dallas I want to make sure all of you guys know each other real briefly she wants to be there for the 1st meal and to let all know the table has a mission that those that would gather here would know love would know what it feels like to be included and to feel connected with others Shannon had looked at tables online for months but kept coming back to Sarah's website where there is no click to purchase and so you have to says email and she replied You know what she wanted to know I want to be sitting on that and I thought this is unique and different here does that evening the Burtons and their children share their new table with a reporter and a few friends including Elisia who told us why this idea of a neighbor's table was just so important and often. I used to wonder why didn't anyone invite me to disable at that moment we knew the table and the people around it were fulfilling its purpose there's 2 ways to live we can either live in love or we can live in fear and people ask me all the time affair how can you invite the guy that just sacked or groceries to come join you at the table my. Hey everybody it's Eric Raymer and I am here to give you your 5 minutes of encouragement Listen to this Albert Einstein he's a pretty smart guy right Albert Einstein had this to say and no don't worry about it I'm not going to give you any kind of formulaic equations or anything that he said this in the middle of difficulty lies opportunity and I think about that for just a minute in the middle of difficulty lies or to nitty Well you know so many times we talk about problems we talk about things that come up against us we talk about things that cause us reason to pause and in most cases the natural inclination for us mankind is to say I've got a problem and if you think about it from that perspective you're probably right but if you were to take Albert Einstein's approach and says in the middle of any difficulty you substitute problem lies opportunity then you have a completely different perspective on how to handle your options and you do have options you always have options so let's give this a little bit of practical application this morning I had a friend call me and his car was broken into and I thought gosh that's so horrible it's terrible you know and then they stole a lot of stuff out of the car musician they stole a guitar they stole guitar amp is still a keyboard you know a whole bunch of stuff and you know thinking about that and seeing how. That's not a good day that's a had a bad day right. Well what Albert Einstein do with this information and the good news is he had an opportunity to kind of set things in a different perspective yet those are his things and yes they stole him but you know what maybe just maybe they needed a more than I did and now don't don't shoot the messenger here I'm not saying that's what he said I'm not saying that that's necessarily what you should say in the midst of an opportunity but the shift in perspective changes mental mental mindset of it and there was one thing in the car that was if if stolen it would have been horrible problem is it's missing but he doesn't remember whether or not it was in the car so what do you do I mean it would have been a horrible situation we're talking about a moral and ethical dilemma in the event that this was stolen not going to give you the details on it but I will say this big opportunity. And so you know we talked through what the moral and ethical issues were if in fact this thing was stolen and what his response had to be good news is that shift in the perspective that shift in the mindset turning it over to the Lord saying you know not my plan but your plan your will be done in that situation my friend got to his office found the thing in question and shoes and then we start prison Lord. Why is that we wait till after something resolves to praise the Lord when we praise the Lord on the front side when we praise God for giving us an opportunity to learn something and boy howdy there was a lot to be learned in this instance and I'm not saying it was Ok for these guys to break into his car not saying that at all what I am saying is everything is an opportunity our mindset our shift in the way that we think it gives us an opportunity and that is what we should really be focusing on doesn't matter how slow you go as long as you don't stop says Confucius I guess he was pretty smart and Oprah Winfrey. Oprah says this It doesn't matter who you are or where you come from the ability to triumph begins with you always. Think about that folks we have the ability to change the outcome of the ability to turn a situation into an opportunity a difficulty into an opportunity a problem into an opportunity an opportunity to what thrive. This is cage open here's a special way for an incredible Pastor Miles Pastor Robert Morris let me tell you how you know by the way if Satan is lying if his lips are moving these lines I mean might think well I can't say his lips moving well he puts thoughts in our minds that's where the warfare is the Bible tells us so let me tell you how you know if there is a thought in your mind that contradicts God's word it's a lie from Satan if you have a thought that God doesn't love me our God God is mad at me our God is not forgiven me that's a lie that is a lie God has already taken care of your c. And it's a big doctrinal word called Pro pitchy a shit it means that all of God's wrath was satisfied through Jesus Christ on the cross God is not angry with you he is not angry with you and he loves you and he has forgiven you the question is have you received his forgiveness for more every step in the way it does it pass your back or not come. Whose motto is move fast and break things Hi this is Dave the knot it will find out straight ahead on the public square. Move fast and break things for years that was the motto of Mark Zuckerberg and Facebook not surprising the facts of the journey for Facebook are filled with the antics of a chaotic dorm room at Harvard and the adolescent frustrations of Mark Zuckerberg and his friends the pace and disregard of those early years netted lawsuits broken relationships and a lot of turmoil for Facebook but the idea of an online community still turned Mr Zuckerberg into the youngest billionaire in American history and it gave him and his colleagues a lot more space to break a lot more things obviously I'm not a fan of social media the term I find very disturbing itself the consequences of this freight train of adolescent mindlessness has broken a lot of boundaries of human decency and broken even more relationships and some lives there's an old Hebrew proverb that seems to apply here better to be a poor man who's walked who walks in his integrity than he was perverse in speech and is a fool Also it's not good for a person to be without knowledge and he who hurries his footsteps errors. Those are words from King Solomon They seem a long way away from move fast and break things down but you won't find a link to Facebook or Twitter or any social media platforms here on the public square you can find us at the public square dot com Come and see for yourself all the world mocks us for moving so slow for not chasing followers not going viral every day or month not tweeting out our stream of consciousness 24 hours a day yes we walk slow along with the works of righteousness justice mercy and kindness because in the arena of public policy civil government elections leadership civil discourse in matters that concern the moments of life and death consequences the Hurleys his footsteps errors. A church was sued over publishing a baptism list state to enjoy want to hear this legal. Here's Attorney they give you a man who had converted from one faith and was excited to begin his new life in Christ by being Scripturally Baptist he knew his family in the other faith would be very upset by his choice to convert any ask the church to not publicize anything about it by an innocent mistake the church posted all of the names of their upcoming baptisms on their website Sadly the man was later nearly beaten to death by his family after they saw the news the man then sued the church and the church lost let this be a valuable lesson for churches everywhere it's vital that you receive consent before publishing personal information on line even for basic matters like Vacation Bible School attendance or upcoming baptisms you do not have the right to take private information with out permission and put it on line be sure you honor that that's attorney David Gibbs June of the Christian law association visit our website for legal brochures our. An inspiring view out of my office window I look out on the mountain with this rolling field in between me and the mountain and the field diffs down into a hollow or a holler as they call it in the south in the spring some of the trees in the hollow start to bloom in living color the red but the dogwood they just start setting off their blossoms in all their glory Well one spring someone walked into my office glanced out that window and said well look at those beautiful trees down there well they are beautiful but you know what they're in a spot Riverview people ever see deputy. Blair 100 grams and the words are today about beauty and out of the way places. Now God as a reserve his beauty for places where lots of people can appreciate it he also plans for beautiful things in art of the way places hey maybe you're one of them not many see beauty when it's in an unlikely or or little known place but it's no less beautiful as Jesus is a valley waiting each of the 7 churches in Revelation $2.00 and $3.00 he seems pretty unimpressed with the ones that look beautiful everyone else like the church should Sardis that quote has a reputation of being alive or Jesus says to them you are dead or the rich and powerful Christians at Laodicea who Jesus says are actually pitiful poor blind and naked. But then there's this church this this I love the way little known church that Jesus thinks is beautiful he says and our word for today from the Word of God in Revelation 3 beginning in verse 8 I know that you have little strength if you have kept my word that He promises them something that he offers to none of the other highly visible churches I have placed before you an open door that no one can shut he's going to give them special blessings and opportunities because of their quiet faithfulness now for someone listening today that's exactly how he feels about you you've been asked to serve Him to be faithful to him in a little place maybe a hard place a place we receive little or no appreciation or affirmation maybe you work or live in a situation where no one appreciates the beauty of Christ in you but God wants you to know today he loves to look at you he thinks you're beautiful. Think about Hannah in the Old Testament she was a childless woman who kept on trusting the Lord she had beauty that no one saw except God and he made her the mother of Samuel the greatest spiritual leader of his time and then there's a merry little known girl from a ridiculed backwater village called Nazareth but God knew all about her and he looked to her when it came time to find a mother to carry and raise his son God seems to have special rewards for quiet unnoticed faithfulness maybe like yours. It's get discouraged. When you've been asked to bloom for God in a place where few can see you were few appreciate your service few appreciate your sacrifice. You are His something beautiful out of the way place and. There. Like those glorious trees hidden in the hollow outside my window. Your life is no less beautiful.
