Coming up ahead of our study time David wanted to step in with details about one of our encouraging and free resources. By the way do you know the we have a weekly e-mail letter that usually focuses on Israel it's called h f t connect You can go to our website David how can God org and click it on in the box and put it in your e-mail that's all you need and they'll come to you every Sunday and telling you a lot about what's going on in Israel as well as giving you a schedule that we will have. Well friends teaching the Book of Exodus and would you believe it this is the last day and we're doing an outline summary type of the whole book of Exodus and we've been looking at all the principles that. God's people should know in their life and of course the 10 Commandments are there in chapter 20 but we're going to look at Chapters 19 all the way to the end chapter 40 today I hope it will be a blessing to you so let's get into our final study today of the Book of Exodus. What is the Book of Exodus all about that we've been studying all these many weeks what is it about number one. It's a story of how God's purposes were fulfilled in the life of one man Secondly beginning with chapter 5 through Chapter 11 Exodus is a story of God's power being displayed number 3 is a story of God's plan to redeem his people out of bondage for thing I want to mention and that's it's also a story of God's provision for his people now this is going to get a lot better a little later on in terms of details there aren't many here. But I suggest just 3 things in chapter 16 they received bread from heaven what was it call Man it manna means what is it when it came down they had no idea what it was these little waves nobody really is sure what they are and neither were the children of Israel it just came down to what is it God said that's good you call it that every day what do you have for breakfast what is it lunch what is it dinner what is that 40 years of what is that but once again there's hardly a book in the Old Testament that is quoted so much in the New Testament as a book of Exodus and once again when you're reading the Gospel of John you cannot miss Chapter 6 when Jesus referred to the fact that your father's 8 men came down from heaven but he said I'm the true bread that comes down from heaven on the Bread of Life which will give life to the whole world not like the bread your fathers ate one of the lessons they not only receive bread from heaven they receive water out of the rock in chapter 17 they were complaining men were thirsty what you bring is out here to die and Moses was told by God to strike the rock and out of it came water in 1st Corinthians $104.00 it tells us that rock represented our Lord Jesus Christ can you believe it. In John 737 and 39 at the celebration of the Feast of Tabernacles celebrating their wanderings in the wilderness and the God is bringing them into a new wonderful promised land one of the ceremonies that was a custom in the day of Jesus. I was taking the golden vessels of the temple and pouring water out of the last day of the fees to remind them that the water came out of the rock and at that moment Jesus cries with a loud voice and says of you called me and drink out of your belly will flow rivers of living water and the Bible says this he spake of the Spirit which they that believe on Him should receive the rock was a symbol of Christ and He is the foundation and the water that came out of the rock was the symbol of the Holy Spirit's ministry in the life of the believer what a fantastic analogy and illustration on out of the Book of Exodus and that in chapter 18 there not only and in chapter 16 received bread from heaven 17 water out of a rock but in 18 they received leaders to help Moses the whole story of picking some help Moses don't stand here all day said his father in law trying to handle all these problems you need to help you take the big issue should you go to God but you need some help and that's the story of Chapter 18 his leaders were chosen able men who would fear God and hate dishonest gain men of truth and righteousness the 5th thing God point out to you begins a chapter 19 and goes to chapter 23 it's a story of God's principles by which his people should live very important principles though there are a lot of details you can summarize them into 4 things 1st of all in chapter 19 as are gathered around that Mount God said You sanctify those people you set them apart don't let them cross this boundary and only you Moses come up about the principle of sanctification is established in the Book of Exodus to be separate the 2nd thing I see in chapter 20 where the 10 Commandments are given is the principle of worship. In the 1st 4 commandments the focus is on God our relationship to God our worship of the law or have no other gods before me not make into the any graven image or the likeness of anything that will not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain remember the show about to keep it holy the focus is on worship the 3rd principle is the principle of human relationships honor your father and mother he said the 1st Commandment with a promise that I shall not kill not commit adultery not steal dowser not bear false witness not covet anything to block to your neighbor the principle of human relationships and then in verse 21 to 23 we have the principle of righteousness Chapter 21 verse one Now these are the judgments which thou shall set before the law its regulations that word govern their life the whole story of chapter 212223 is how to do right things are put on a common level even what to do if your neighbor's pet bites you it goes down to little things what that's all about those little details and we had several messages through that particular section and I remind you that all those details that seem so strange to us today actually were protecting human relationships they're the foundation of western law both British and American that's where we got all of our arguments about witnesses and how to handle disputes and all of it it all came out of fear the judgments and laws of this book told us how to do right what does the Lord require of you and me Micah 668 says to do justly to do right to love mercy and to walk humbly with I god. Now beginning of chapter $24.00 to Chapter 40 is the 6th and final thing that we want to present to you and that's that Exodus is a story of God's planes where he would manifest His glory and his presence is in the story of the tabernacle a wonderful story I don't know about you but I really enjoyed teaching it once again seeing the beauty and majesty of our Lord and all that was constructed and made and used for Temple and tabernacle worship I want to say 3 things to you very simply about this whole enormous section chapter 24 to 40 as you know some of it seems repetitive as the details about building the ark in the mercy seat in the labs and the bread all of the stuff the priest their garments everything all the details are that 3 things because it is a story of God's place where he would manifest His glory in presence we call that cloud that dark foreboding clout but when it came down you couldn't see anything could hardly move we call it the chicane at Chicago on is a Hebrew word to dwell Shikata does not appear in the Bible but it means the dwelling of God the dwelling of the Lord a little on the end Yah way sure kind of. The dwelling of God as I think about the whole thing isn't it wonderful that God revealed that he wants to do well with us by constructing this tabernacle and teaching it to us step by step we do know that when Jesus was here the glory of God tabernacle to among us in the body of the Lord Jesus and we also know that the bodies of believers have become a tabernacle a temple of the Spirit of God and God wants to manifest His glory through them. What is the story of Exodus $24.00 to $40.00 do we pick out one piece of furniture and say that's it is it the Raiders of the Lost Ark Is that what we need here No no no no what we need to see here is the glory of the Lord isn't it interesting in chapter 24 that it was begun with God's glory abiding on Mount Sinai the whole thing about instructing Moses about how to build this tabernacle was begun with a manifestation of God's glory it even affected the face of Moses like a chapter $24.00 verse 15 Moses went up into the mountain a cloud covered the mouth and the glory of the lower abode upon downside the cloud covered its 6 days and the 7th day called into Moses out of the midst of the clouds and the sight of the glory of the Lord was like devouring fire on the top of the mountain the eyes of the children of Israel and Moses went into the midst of the cloud and get him up into the mountain Moses was in the Mount 40 days and 40 days the story of God's place where he would do well and manifest as glory that story was begun with God's glory coming on Mount Sinai Secondly I believe that place was built for God's glory everything about it reflects the glory of majesty of God certainly the Ark of the Covenant and the Mercy Seat certainly the veil certainly the lamps then he is the light of the world certainly the bread the lows on the table the showbread certainly the altar of incense certainly the brazen all certainly the why the whole thing. Is teaching us about the person and character of God it was manifesting His glory do remember the details of our messages about the coverings on the curtains and the kind of metals and the kind of colors that are used it was all speaking of the glory of God If you study the tabernacle and don't see the Lord you going to go back and study it again all of it is a picture of God's greatness and His glory that's what it was all about the tabernacle to remind us all was built for one purpose to display the majesty and glory of God The interesting thing is how it all concludes look at Chapter 40 it was not only begun with God's glory abiding on that mount it was not only built for God's glory in all of its many details but in Chapter 40 it was blessed with God's glory visibly demonstrated in Exodus 4034 that a cloud covered the tent of the congregation and the glory of the Lord filled the tabernacle Moses was not able to enter into the tent of the congregation because the cloud abode there on and the glory of the Lord filled the tabernacle when the cloud was taken up from over the tabernacle the children visceral went on board in all their journeys but if the cloud were not taken out then they journeyed not till the day that it was taken up for the cloud of the Lord was upon the tabernacle by day and fire was on it by night in the sight of all the house of Israel throughout all their journeys or travels Wow What's Exodus all about well it's a story of God's purpose being fulfilled in one man's life every one of us need to see God's hand in our lives sometimes things don't make sense Joseph no doubt thought that when he was sold as a slave. Which brought the people to Egypt the 1st place I would that young shepherd boy know the plan and purposes of God as he winds up in a dungeon in prison in Egypt all the years he spent there don't you think he questioned God's purpose in his life all the years they were in Egypt why did God change the line of the pharaohs and bring someone who didn't know Joseph and and then turn the whole thing into nothing but a hardship a burden an affliction It was awful it was terrible they were tortured and beat up it was an awful experience why God had a plan he had a purpose and he was fulfilling it it is also the story of his power as we have said and we need to see his power is so easy to go to like doubting that God can do anything read it again there isn't anything a god cannot do but we don't control him we don't tell him when to do it and how to do it God will display is power when he wants to and it is a story of God's plan to redeem his people have you got used to hearing redeemed how I love to proclaim it have you gotten used to the plan of God in saving you out of your sin and rescuing you from hell better read Exodus Again it tells us the way out is through the blood of the Passover layer and it is the story of God's provision is God take care of you my God shall supply all of our need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus and it is a story of God's principles have you forgotten his law has not changed his law does not bring us salvation or cause us to grow but his law gives us the knowledge of said it helps us to understand our depravity and why we need a savior the laws the schoolmaster to bring us to Christ the law has not changed Paul says it's holy righteous moral and good have you been thinking about it. When you are filled with the Holy Spirit does it lead you to disobedience or does it lead you to obedience the blessing and cursing of God is often seen in our own lives as we decide whose principles are we really following and a day of political correctness and everybody changing the rules making all kinds of suggestions as to what we should do or not do. Whose rules do we follow whose word do we really obey exodus has a powerful lesson on that God wants us to do right he who is right yes John said this is the one who practices it we don't become righteous because we practice it we become righteous through faith in Christ but the evidence is that we want to do right who decides what's right and what's wrong God does his laws not changed it's still there and it leads us to the only hope our Messiah who will forgive it's because of you offended one point of the law you are guilty of all of it anybody want to say you have not sinned how many lies is it take to make a liar just one how many cents to make a sinner just one all have sinned and come short of what the glory of God which is the whole subject in Exodus it is a story of God's place where he will manifest His glory and God's place where he wants to dwell is your life and mine God wants to manifest His glory through us he wants the very life and attitudes of our Lord Jesus Christ through the power of His Holy Spirit to be reflected in us and you know I don't know about you but I feel guilty even thinking about it. How often I violate at how often I reflect human opinion how often my attitudes are the opposite of what God wants and it's easy to let the enemy discourage you and I think there's no whole. But you know when you blow it it's a neat reminder from God that you need to. Anybody here might have blown it just last week we all need the Lord and that is also the story of Exodus let's pray Father you know how we want to do what you want us to do but we find our hearts often going another direction as Paul wrote We want to do things that we don't do and there are things that we don't want to do we wind up doing and we say with Him Oh wretched man that I am who will deliver me from the body of this death and his note of praise comes in our hearts as well as we think of what he said I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord the law of the spirit of life has made me free from the law of sin to death I thank you Lord for the Holy Spirit within the believer our bodies have become the temple the tabernacle the dwelling place of God Himself and it's overwhelming to us sometimes why you would even want to dwell in us the fact is that you want to use us and bless us far more than we want to receive it you've invited us to call upon you you've warned us about trusting our own wisdom and knowledge trusting our own abilities stead of you and God I pray that as we continue to study your word will see our need of you over and over and over again and thank you Lord for Exodus and for reminding us that we need you more. I pray for those here who are not really sure of their relationship to you God I prayed that they'd settle it and that you would encourage the hearts of all of us Lord through what we have learned in Jesus name we pray. So one of the secrets of being on the radio for 30 years and this is Dave's an audit Let's talk about it today on the public square. You asked me how you get started in radio I can tell you. It's so long ago it's hard to remember we get started with one radio station one microphone and a reel to reel tape machine now what's different about the public squares it's not based on talent that sometimes abundantly obvious. Especially when I'm doing the talking it's based upon mission what we do here is the work of public policy and then we talk about it on the radio so the work comes before the talk because the public square is a division of the American Policy Roundtable which is a group of people that are doing. The thinking and working in publishing and praying with a whole network of volunteers and supporters in the legislating in the litigating and all that sort of stuff we talk about it as principles issues in elections we bake that pie. Of public policy every day and we talk about on the radio so we've got something to say because we've done something where the process of doing it and we have something to say because we got a great team the people that join me around these microphones on a regular basis are some of the finest people you could ever meet you want them all for neighbors they are some of the greatest people I've ever had the privilege to work with and why the hanger on work with me I'll never know but they're wonderful folks and you can hear their voices every week on the public square at the public square dot com and on many of these fine stations and now a daily program is coming out where you can hear more of them t.p.s. 30 the daily edition is being prototyped right now in the state of Florida and hopefully will reach the country in the very near future all of this happens because of your prayers and your constant support and this radio program is unique by the mercies blessings of God and so many good friends like the staff here at the public square so I want to say on their behalf Once again thanks for listening this is Dave's I'm Ali we'll talk tomorrow again on the polls for. Your station for God and country this is the money $670.00 k. L. T. . We have no right to be unforgiving of the other person may not respond there forgiving spirit. You are not can't make somebody else change but we can be forgiving no matter what it is the will of God that us be forgiving toward those who are wrong as though those who say things are actors in a way that is untrue ice like we cannot justify an ungodly spirit now the question comes why is it that you and I fail to forgive other people when they wrong. What is humanity's greatest need peace economic stability maybe something more. Basic like food or shelter welcome to in touch with Dr Charles Stanley today Dr Stanley shows us how God meets our deepest need through Christ Stay with us him learn how to receive and give the gift of forgiveness. When someone wrongs you either by some slanderous statement or by some action what is your response maybe what on earth of these 2 responses best fit you well you get angry and your 1st response is Well how can I retaliate or how can I get back at them or would your response be what gift could I give that person what is the Biblical response to those who wronged us the Biblical response is the 2nd one that is what gift can I give to that other person so what I want to talk about in this message is the gift of forgiveness and I want you to turn if you will to the Asians chapter 4 and Paul in this if Asian chapter is talking about some things that do not fit who we are as believers in fact in the 1st 3 chapters he's talking about who we are in Christ and what our position is in him and then in the last 3 chapters he's talking about how we ought to behave that is how we ought to practice who we are in Christ Jesus I want you to begin if you will in the 29th verse one of the things he says here he says let him know on hold some more proceed from your mile but only such a word as is good for edification are calling to the need of the moment that it may give grace to those who hear and then he makes a statement that most of us know this from by heart he says Do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God by whom you are a seal for the day every day I'm sure then here's what he says. Let all bitterness and wrath an anger and clamor and slander be put away from you along with all malice and be can do one another tenderhearted forgiving each other just this God in Christ also has forgiven you. Now if our 1st response to someone who wrongs is is anger and bitterness and hostility then what he says here let all bitterness that is a feeling of intense animosity toward someone bitterness then he says rather that is that's anger with real aggressiveness and anger and clamor with real loud protests toward someone slander that is with the desire intention to read it in just someone else and he says that all that be put away from you with all malice that is statements that you in 10 to damage someone's reputation all their occupation or whatever it might be so he says none of these things fit who we are as believers and then he takes the very opposite he says and. Be kind to one another tenderhearted forgiving one all but even his God in Christ Jesus has forgiven you well when I think about God I think about this truth that is that forgiveness is the gift of God to every single person and if you'll think about it for a moment the Bible says over and over again different ways that when you and I sinned against God that's exactly who we send against we sin against a God that we may sin against someone else by something we do or something we say but in essence we sin against God. You and I cannot sin against someone else without standing against God And so the Bible says that he's given us the decree that the so that sin it that shall die you say Well that was looks like to me that was awfully difficult and awfully hard for God to make such a decree is that but what we have to ask is What was his goal his goal was to create a kingdom of holy people and therefore he says be holy even as I am holy and therefore he laid down the law in mediately that because sin is against God there is an awesome penalty for sin and therefore God in His Love motivated by his love he says that he so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whoever believes in Him will not perish but have everlasting life motivated by love and knowing that all of us have sinned against him he says for all and sinned and come short of the glory of God There is none righteous no not one all of us have indebted our selves to God because the rest sin that is. We have sinned against the Almighty God we have violated his law and therefore we have to be dealt with and so either we will pay the penalty of our sin which he says ultimately is eternal death or someone else will pay that penalty will God in His wonderful loving forgiving spirit chose not to make all of us pay the penalty the cross is God's statement to the world that in our sinfulness against him and our obligation the repay this debt to him he has chosen to pay this debt in our behalf by sending his own the bigger and Son the Lord Jesus Christ and the moment a person receives Christ as their Savior the Bible says that debt has been cancelled and we are from that moment own free from the penalty of our sins and therefore God no longer holds it against us he doesn't hold our sin against theirs and in longer he sets us free he liberates us from the penalty of it he liberates us from the power of it so that you and I can feel accepted in your eyes of God Now whether we feel accepted or not is not even a issue the issue is we are what makes it acceptable even though we have sinned against Him we are and dead to him he says I have cancelled that debt through the death of My Son the Lord Jesus and so therefore you and I have the privilege of saying in knowing that we are except in the eyes of God on the basis of behavior but on the basis of what Jesus Christ that it Calvary and so the question is how do we respond when people are wrong us well how did God respond to you and be he responded to us but say he's giving his only begotten Son and that son's blood would atone for all of our sin past present and future which means that now you are not serve a God who says forgiven forgiven forgiven and one of the difficulties some people have with that is they think well now you just can't say well God forgive me I'm sorry and therefore I'm forgiven. They look at the awfulness of their sin and then they say well I've got to do more than just ask God to forgive me or what you look at is what you look at is in the next thing you look at is what. What is the next thing you look at that you look at your sin the cross then you understand why God can say forgiven not forgiven if not forgiven when not forgiven when you do the following things but forgiven by the grace of God God's goodness and kindness towards therefore forgiveness is God's gift and his all for to anyone and everyone who's willing to receive it the 2nd question is this then what is my gift to those who wronged me the only legitimate gift I can hear the only legitimate response to those who wronged me is to be forgiving toward them even as God has forgiven us now listen to what he says in this verse $32.00 he says and be can one to another tender hearted forgiving each other how just as God how in Christ Jesus through their crossed also has forgiven you so what I was to look at here is how we have to respond to those who wronged us. And is the gift of forgiveness given by God is given to all of us the only legitimate response I can have to those who wronged me is to give the gift of forgiveness toward them even as he has forgiven me now you think about this you say well I can be forgiving to a point what point did God stop for giving us there is no point you see the truth is there are no limitations I can't say I'm willing to forgive you accept. I'm willing to forgive you when I'm willing to forgive you but I'm willing to forgive you if none of those the lie of the believer who is in well with the person of Jesus Christ in whom we are following everybody gets hurt at some point in their life and sometimes those hurts are very very painful and sometimes they go on a long time and sometimes they become intense and oftentimes you know I can look at someone else and so a lot of why are you not forgiving and often if we walk in their shoes we don't understand why it may be that that person maybe in their spiritual walk at this point their life maybe their sense of maturity where they are in their spiritual life maybe they don't understand the Word of God They don't understand the fact that Jesus is living on the inside of them and so they wrestle and they struggle being able to be forgiving and so for them it's very difficult sometimes there are no limitations on what you and I must forgive and so God doesn't save the human body now when you if you'll spend the next 20 years of your life serving me and if you give so much money each year then it into those 20 years you'll be forgiven Gad makes no requirement of work on your part and my part that is God Nowhere says pay me back and listen to this if you withhold forgiveness from anyone for anything what you are saying is I'll forgive you when you pay me back that is absolutely totally on Scriptural forgiveness is being willing to free that person release them from whatever they've done the you no matter what no conditions because you see some people are going to ever come to you and say I'm sorry some people I don't ever come to you and say I need to ask you to forgive me some folks will never say are wrong to some people will never be able to do that and so what you have to decide is this. And my going to live with is something in my heart toward the person because they don't pay me back so a payback is not forgiveness that's not real forgiveness that is requiring someone to earn your forgiveness that is not giving them the gift of forgiveness is there were but you know have been destroyed or you know what I've discovered that no matter how much you nominate here we've been mistreated that all the folks out there been treated a whole lot worse and we have a whole lot worse than we have there is no way to justify an unforgiving spirit and yet many Christians do that all the time. We have no right to be unforgiving of the other person may not respond their forgiving spirit. You and I can't make somebody else change but we can be forgiving no matter what it is the will of God that you and I be forgiving toward those who are wrong are still those who say things are actors in a way that is unbecoming on Christ like we cannot justify an ungodly spirit now the question comes why is it that you and I fail to forgive other people when they're wrong us why do we fail to do so well it's because of what they did not really that's not the real reason one of the reasons we are not willing to release that other person don't hold it against the minimal or the primary reasons is proud on our part you did that to me you hold me back is that interesting that God never said that this is why this phrase is so important just this God in Christ Jesus has forgiven you he didn't ask for payback and therefore I don't have a right to ask for a payback a 2nd reason I think people are unforgiving is because something happens in their life and somehow that in that situation they get stuck they think it's so bad or it's so evil or it's so unkind somehow it's like they get stuck they just can't get out of it and what happens is. The more they think about it the worse it becomes and the more stark they feel and after a while they just can't move they're just stuck in this sense of bitterness this intense anger this intense animosity these feelings and you see all of us can take any ant hill and build a Mount Everest out of it if we want to if we choose to feel that a way to all the people but he says the you can want to know the tenderhearted forgiving each other just as God in Christ Jesus has forgiven a us and so some people get stuck a 3rd reason I think people unforgiving is they can't look ahead they're always looking back always counting the things that have been done to them always evaluating weighing how people have treated them and somehow they can't make that 180 degree turn and look ahead to think about what does God think of me you see the truth is no matter what somebody thinks of us no doubt of what someone does to us the issue is what does God think of us he loves us how does he treat as he loves us why does he allow these things to happen does because he sees than allow these things to happen he's going to build character he's going to mold us he's going to work into our lives those character traits that he's looking for and why and so even the things that God allows that are hurtful and painful and sometimes shameful to us what is God doing he is molding and sending in sifting and working our life those things that he knows will make us Christ like. One of the reason some people can't forgive is because they don't deal with it early enough now we said the very beginning it would be easy for us to say to someone who maybe has wronged is that we don't know about they come to us and say I need to ask you to forgive me for what I've done what I've said so Paul that we didn't feel the hurt it's really easy but now suppose we do feel the hurt suppose it's extremely painful and it just penetrates all the way down to the depths of our sense of worth and being and and appreciation for our own selves army it just hits us on the blind side hard then how do we respond well. If we don't go to God immediately if we don't respond immediately here's what's going to happen that little bit of hurt is going to develop into some anger and the more that anger sets there and large is there the more light and bitterness it's going to smell and before long that anger is going to become bitterness and if we don't deal with it before long that bitterness is going to get very aggressive it is going to become hostility and before long the hostility is good because going to begin to express itself in some form of vengeance toward the other person to take something out on them or in some way to injure the other person and this is why it's so very important that children grow up that we keep dealing with those situations and circumstances in life because if we don't deal with them the best we know how to say look you've done this or I did do this please forgive me here whatever it might be they grow up and they grow up see they know on the inside of them this bitterness this anxiety this term all the insides of their miserable they make everybody else miserable why because there's something they either don't know how to deal with I don't want to deal with my friend there's not a single one of us who has the right to make somebody else pay the price we cannot do it. No matter how they respond we can't make them pay the price that becomes hatred and the $2.00 forms of hatred passive hatred which says I don't want to be around you I don't like you still a mile away and then there's that aggressive page that says I'm going to get you one way or the old I'm going to pay you back and that's what this nation is full of angry people who want to pay somebody back and that's why the whole legal system is making billions and billions and billions of dollars why people want to get somebody to pay them back wanting to make them pay somehow but he said the kind. Tender hearted one toward another forgiving each other even as God in Christ Jesus has forgiven us. There are lots of reasons that people live with this molten volcano of anger and bitterness the hostility bring on the inside of them and you know what happens after a while a person doesn't deal with it after a while here's what happens they become that watch this word they become so comfortable at 1st some people get comfortable Some people become so acclimated to that atmosphere within themselves they don't even want to change it's not that they like it they just don't want to change because it's what they have become accustomed to waking up feeling anger living their life feeling anger or expressing their bitterness on people you hear people say well you know I just have a temple that's the way God made me though he did don't blame God for that God didn't make us better he didn't make us resentful and he didn't give us his hot tempered attitude God doesn't do any of those things he says be can one to another tender hearted forgiving one of the even this God in Christ Jesus has forgiven us so when I look at that passage and ask the question I have is that a person can say yes I know that I'll to be forgiving of but I'm here to tell you you don't know what's happened to me the truth is listen when somebody tells you that it doesn't make any difference no person has the right to hold that man require payment back for a wrong done to them if that person is a believer they cannot make that requirement and here's the tragedy often times when we may say something to someone or do something that really is that really all that harsh or bad it may be a mistake or something we say all because. Sometimes their response told us. They're not responding to you in the me they're responding to some of the incident somebody else in their life that they can't get to. Maybe they voted dad maybe some I live somewhere else moved away they can't get to them they never settle that while they could get to them and so what happens they don't express it on someone else and this is the tragedy this is the tragedy of growing up in a home for example let's say a father and mother were terribly mistreated the children come along the parents mistreat that child now because of what the child is but because they can't get back to their parents have already died and so what are they do they project on these innocent children their venom their anger their hostility their bitterness their resentment because the way they were treated the way they were mistreated back to the way they were abused and so these kids grow up thinking why do you treat me this way then they get angry so their parents die so what do they do they come along to the same thing to their children so generation after generation of children grow up angry and bitter and hostile and and acting out ways that we think what in the world is going on inside of them because it was handed down unfriend week and handed down unless we shut it down somewhere in our lives. Tell you to review church members and public office who support abortion is inexcusable but there's an even bigger problem in the pew for the call center on Johnstone street this spring. I've talked a lot about abortion in the last month since the New York legislature cheered its extreme late term abortion bill part of that story was how badly the legislation reflected on Christians just day. Days after touting his Roman Catholic faith in a speech New York Governor Andrew Cuomo signed the Reproductive Health Act into law making it legal to kill unborn babies in his state all the way up to birth and I'm not Catholic but I've long admired the Catholic Church's moral clarity and courageous stand on behalf of unborn children and view of this history the failure of top Catholic clergy to clearly confront and to yes I will say it excommunicate prominent members of their flocks like Cuomo when they openly defy church teaching on the sanctity of life is disappointing thankfully not all Catholic shepherds have been silent in recent weeks some like Spokane's Bishop Thomas daily spoke out boldly and a public letter released recently Bishop Daly urged that politicians and his diocese who obstinately persevere and their public support for abortion should not receive communion without 1st being reconciled to Christ and the church a min I wish we'd see more of this kind of moral clarity and courage and not just from Catholics and many ways most Christian denominations and many Evan Jellicoe non-denominational churches are showing worrying signs that even official doctrinal stance is against abortion aren't accepted by average members according to a survey last year by Pew Research a staggering 48 percent of self identify Catholics believe that abortion should be legal in all or most cases Protestants are doing better I'm not even talking about liberal mainline denominations many of which already caved on Christian essentials and which have been mostly abandoned by bible believing Evan Jellicoe conservative churches must confront the problem in their midst as well Pew reports a number leave a bill 30 percent of self identified Southern Baptists think abortion should be legal in all or most cases for the conservative Lutheran Church Missouri Senate it's 46 percent and Pew reports that a majority 54 percent of those who belong to the Presbyterian Church in America. Say they support legal abortion now as Joe Carter points out of the Gospel coalition these numbers are very tough to believe we're talking here about theologically conservative denominations despite Pugh's excellent reputation Carter suspects that pollsters may have accidentally mixed in respondents from liberal mainline churches but even if the numbers are as much as 15 points off they still represent a catastrophic failure of discipleship in our churches for a 3rd to half of Christians and officially pro-life denominations to support legal child killing means that there's a massive disconnect between Paul bit and Pew churches Roman Catholic and Protestant and Evan Jellicoe ought to confront withhold communion from and if necessary excommunicate members who support abortion even those in the governor's mansion state legislatures and the United States Congress the New Testament instruction on dealing with graven unrepentant sin includes phrases like purge the evil person from among you and even hand them over to Satan but ultimately we must deal with the failure of our churches to effectively teach a Christian view on the sanctity of life in the 1st place otherwise our public denunciations will be nothing but a Band-Aid certainly not enough to stem the flow of innocent blood flowing in this country for breakpoint Johnston. George to tune to the mighty $67.00 being Kal to. My friend Rosaria came from a staunch pro-abortion background and even after the Lord gave her a new heart she was still in process I was a Christian but I was very uncomfortable with this pro-life rhetoric one day Rosaria read this from Psalm 102 let it be recorded for a generation to come so that a people yet to be created may praise the Lord. She called it a moment of real undoing I realized that the deep deep atrocity of abortion was that there was an image bare a holy God who was going to magnify and glorify God who now would never do that on January 22 19731 Supreme Court decision effectively silenced millions of future worshippers we do well to consider and mourn with seeking Him I'm Nancy Demasi walk a month.
