You're listening to am 6 empty k l t t broken to beautiful the real Tracy rock and my good friend Bradley Hey Dutch t.v. Writer she were are how always well has everything and the big I love. Here I get I got to tell you it's kind of. Cold pleasant and cold. Yeah I'm terrible you know I don't know if anyone told you but Denver is typically cold. I keep trying to get you here but I like I don't do cold weather and I'm like it's really not that bad. Yeah and you know what I've been saying lately I just got to tell you that's why I share this with you because I've been trying to get you here and I'm really a warm weather girl. But I really think God and I have been having a one on one conversation and lately I've been saying Lord I think you got me in the wrong state. I really do so I'm coming to Dallas I'm going to be in Dallas the 1st weekend of mays So I'm thinking where you need to be yeah what I left Miami to come to Dallas Texas so I said the same thing to. Me. He said Well I tracked you on your. Seat Maybe that's what maybe I haven't heard that message. So as always I'm so thankful that you're with me and it's always an honor to have you on the air let's let's go back a lot of people I you know I've moved to afternoons and they haven't heard you that often here at 2 o'clock can you tell everybody who you are what you're behind how you and I got in touch and what you do. Ok after I do I would love to prayer let me pray. This makes me feel a lot better. That's Bradley This is my girl t. Rock she rock and we met a while a while back and see another friend of mine who was on her show and along the short of it is that I was a former bodyguard I did bodyguard work for a lot of different celebrities people like Jennifer Lopez people like Sean p. Diddy Combs and so I got to travel around the world on private jet and I got to drive expensive cars like cost that is $350000.00 a Rolls Royce and there was one thing I always said I will always say man life does not get any better than this and it was really a good life but during the highlight of my career and during the bodyguard personal protection work I ended up pulling into the Miami Airlines Arena we had about a 24 lease escort service in there we had helicopters following was following us with cameras and when we pulled inside he would go inside to the venue had cracked the car and I'd say one final time life does not get any better than this and I heard the voice of the holy God say but you are not doing what I created you to do I told to go and tell people what I have done for you and from that point forward I step out in faith I believe and trust that God He had saved me probably 15 years prior to that and he saved me in a prison cell and it was from a prison cell looking at 38 years in prison that a man turned the corner and handed me a small brown book that has a p.d.f. Bible and I opened up that book and I didn't understand it but he prayed with me and when he trade with me I believe it was in that moment that my destiny had taken a turn and the other inmate that was in there with me would about 4 hours later take me into his cell and begin to explain to me the words that are really written in that book and also I could day I believe that that book is a living book in every word that is written Laden. Will speak to me and it will speak to you to Iraq it will speak to everybody who hears my voice in the moment of time this year in because that will teach them written for us to save us from any trouble that we may experience because God blesses people so little not show of my story I with an organization called I Am 2nd please to 2nd that top amazing testimonies from both celebrities and palm and a people that have gone through experiences that God has pulled them through I set up the extreme life the vision of that extreme right as I'm going after an ex generation and I'm trying to reach every man everywhere for live and face every day that is an extreme life and then last I have a clothing line that I've launched with a partner and friend of mine Danielle Elizabeth out of Los Angeles California and it's called Dad always pray and we have a line of that girls pray and young prince and young princess clothing and it's clothing with the costs and the power of prayer. Well and we're going to go back into the Bad Boys 3 and go deeper into that towards the end and tell everybody what all that is about to end I and I I can't even express every time that you're on with me Dutch It is just. Such an honor and it just blows me away how God does a mighty work every single time so I mean like I told them I also have a mutual friend I'm with us all often and it's Chris Griffin and he does home team Dallas He'll be with us on Friday and my. Children and some of my crew I know and it's so amazing how God puts us all together to do his mighty work you know and I'm just thrilled it's just such a thrill so I want to make sure everybody knows how to get a hold of you how to get the clothing how to pray with you and all that stuff so I'd love to do I'd love to just push everybody. My bad boys prey on Facebook we please go there like the bad boys play Facebook page and I really appreciate that yeah but is this I agree I agree and we got it up on our website broken and you double dot net and you spell and broken and beautiful dot net Mr Dutch we. Will you start us off with a little prayer please absolutely Father God You are amazing and I don't say that just works better shallow experience I'd say you're amazing because I have experience how amazing you are in my life to Iraq as experience how amazing you are in her life and there are people listening oh Lord God that experience how amazing you are and God We worship you because you are lower we worship you because you are safe here we worship you because you are our chains and we bow to no other God but the Lord God we thank you for Christ Jesus for he thought we thank you for your obedience to do what you were put here on the earth to do so that Father God can redeem mankind back to itself and so that we can cry out one day to you holy holy holy is the Lord God Almighty what you bless this radio program where you press the listeners will you open up eyes that could not see what you open up ears could not hear and what you allow your right about your living word to enter into our hearts and minds and change us right where we are in Christ Jesus name be praise the lord amen He-Man man thinks Dutch I love when you pray oh man I love when you pray so I know why because of the Living God is in the law then well in you that's why I did that my love and you love it because Bad Boys way that annoys you break a man outtake So Mr that our topic is faith in action and it's funny because I think you and I are going. Into different worlds here but at the same time I think it's going to come together. What do you would you say. That means the connection. I can grow with the definitions that 1st God has given us a lot of that faith is the substance of things that we hope for and it's the evidence of things that we cannot or do not see as Hebrews $111.00 so that's the biblical definition of what faith is how does that translate well faith is obviously something that is within us that we are hoping for but it's it's the actual thing that we do as a result of hope. So we may not see that thing that we're hoping for but because we desire it we will do something in order to attain it or in order to attain our hope so that's a little bit of a tongue twisting to his words there but the interesting thing is that you can have hope without faith when you cannot have faith without hope and faith is an action word when you join faith and hope together it is the doing of something that the definition and the big scary for action is the state of acting or being active so in other words you can't have faith and be sedentary. Your faith is always going to have you doing something whether that is working on developing your faith to believe greater and bigger whether that is actually getting physically going and doing something as a result of the faith that isn't right I totally agree with that and where I was going with this on my own personal feeling I do believe that with faith in action I do believe that the foundation of that is a purpose and a passion and a desire to have something to strive for and that's where I was going with when we were talking before we started is purpose and passion like if you have that then you know that you have to strive for something even if you don't believe it can happen and even if you don't you know others might be questioning you in and saying what are you foolish you know like are you thinking that you can do that kind of thing that's why I was saying before we even started the program and about when you said a couple but no it really wasn't a curveball it was just saying that. You know sometimes we kind of start from the nitty gritty from the the foundation of who am I what am I doing and what is my calling in this world. That is kind of where I was going with that and I love that I just want to make sure you know me grow I'm always going to take 50 I know the word is absolutely our foundation but I think that what you've just said and here I just want to throw some thought provoking b.s. Out here because. In my own personal life I've always been very passionate I've been passionate about sports I've been passionate about relationships and girlfriends I think passionate about my my own mother passionate about riding motorcycles I've been passionate about writing bike you can have passion before you have a purpose. Yeah there are those who have a process but have no passion. And the beauty of it with me is that as I have experienced it encountered God I have experienced that when you have a passion to do something it is easier for God to get your purpose to get you to do it but it difficult when you know you have a purpose and you're sitting on the couch with the remote control and you have no passion to get it done that yeah totally makes sense why would you say I go ahead I'm sorry Well I was just going to say that you know having passion is I got I mean I can just see that they give up what you have passion but you don't know what to do with it you know that it definitely made for a long long and that's what actually for me a lot of my passion I turned into disappointment because of the things I tell sort of along the way in my life so I was asked about it but I didn't necessarily obtain it or things would go the way I wanted them to from my passion would actually turn into anger rather than turning it into purpose or faith Ok and so that was the bright light for me if young man growing up Ok that's actually what has been asked you we're going to take a break that I'll be right back its am 6 am to k.l. To. Rock and my. What the real Tracy rock and our friend always a great brand always wonderful to have on Bradley. One more time let's. Just keep on thing in how everybody could get ahold of you because I know by the end of this show people will want to know who is the real Dutch Bradley Well I appreciate that hey everybody this is that's Bradley I would let it to you to go to Facebook good or bad or always play and I'd like you to like my page there we're going to show you a lot of great things to come here as he goes across a back always play on Facebook the 40 are you guys awesome so Mr Dutch we're talking about faith in action and I was just kind of and you kind of expressed what faith is and what that means and have and hope and faith and I express just a purpose and passion and I felt like that was the foundation really where we start because if we don't have a foundation of what we're passionate about what we're striving for if we don't have a calming like we all have a calling but if we don't feel like we have a calling I think that's a missing link you know and so that's kind of where I was going and then we were just talking about that if you want to expand on passion. Well I would just say on what you just said that you know you can have passion purpose and you can have purposeful passion and 2 of those are ingredients of what it is to have faith and to action but as I said in the opening segment that you can have hope without faith but you can have purpose without passion and that's what are saying that it is that you have to have all of these ingredients in order to put your faith into action. Well and what about serving and giving I don't know why that just came to my mind but we put the 2 gradients together faith and hope purpose and passion serving and giving what I think some service and giving all the outward expressions of before that we're talking about now which is purpose and passion there are internal things there are very internal belief mechanisms and hope and faith there are internal things in that. Say if an action it turns into. Being and what you want to serving getting hurt getting out serving or just turned on greedy and. After station of these other 4 ingredients working in someone's life well I don't know what just brought that up I was just thinking it and it's funny because all this kind of reminds me of my conversation with my daughter last night when she got down with her soccer game she said mom I played the best soccer game I played in my life I got 2 goals they lost but she felt like she she was up to par and she has just really struggled the coaches really Crestor spirit she doesn't want to play next year and she's actually thought about quitting this year and I said absolutely not I mean that's not an option for you you do not have that option and she's like why not you know like it's my life and I'm like It's not that easy and I feel like today we don't have. Accountability for our actions and you know I said you know you're not a quitter 1st of all and I feel like so many people want to quit they quit on divorce you know like they get divorce real quickly they quit on marriage rather and they quit on oh I don't want this job because it doesn't fit my needs I mean they don't think about well it pays the brand to live so you know I just feel like so many people want things easy today and the whole faith in action that we're talking about kind of goes out the window and I don't know what you feel about that but I am very sincere about that and all explain more with my son that was in football who wanted to quit and then he ended up doing amazing things and it's just about being patient with God and our life and and being obedient you know understand in hand I am on day to day work out called insanity oh just he's doing that it's hard he's. Like how do you do it I want to quit every time I do it. And wanting to quit is just a part of not wanting to experience or into or something that's not enjoyable quitting is a natural reaction but the building of character tells me no I can't quit 1st of all you did a great job as a mother not allowing your daughter to quit because you want them to go through the entire process of what they have made a commitment to work it gives them the value of what they have joined what they've committed to but there's other people that are depending on them it's not about just how it makes you feel there's a team that's depending on them as a coach for spending on them so anything that doesn't feel good to us. We always happen whether or not we want to quit that's where we have to tap into our purpose it is passionate about playing soccer see a lot right but she hasn't packed into what all of the life lessons that she is getting because she is playing on that soccer team exactly what I'm talking about is there is a quality that comes with knowing to want to boring the hardship I've never had one coach growing up ever prominent on the things that I think did what they would harp on had on every bad thing that we are not be honest with you although they were very successful as protests they were terrible with it look at leaders right because she was never treated everyone the same way right she's always dealt with individuals based on where they were what is their life experience what is their background what is their ability to win door criticism and so you know we have cultures that don't build after they scare people down and that it's not a good leader yeah I'm going to have to sit jump in here Sidney What do you think about that yeah Tracy your daughter God willing is going to turn around one day and just thank you for not letting her quit right now because I can see I can speak from my experience and as a musician I wanted to quit piano I played piano for 14 years when I was younger and I'm so thankful now that my dad didn't let me just quit when I wanted to because otherwise I would not tapped into the musical ability I have now to go ahead and go ahead and pick up a higher rate I know you should hear now I mean she's beautiful I mean like the harp and she comes in a place for us so. Soothing it is those the things but you know let's God you know it is and this is the fruit it's the fruit of our labor you know it's the fruit of character and our labor to to endure Yeah well and I just got to I got to pick up on. Because I was trying to tell my daughter she's a little mad at me right now but I try to tell her you know look at Jesse I remember days where Jesse wanted to quit and just saying that this is craziness I mean like and I get what you're saying because when people tear people down in coaches think they're doing the right thing by turning them down thinking they're that we're going to rise up to the level that they want us to I coach differently as I have coached in the past I don't coach that way you know I coach with speaking life into people and seeing a lot different and I kind of parent the same way I don't parent by bringing my kids down and thinking that they're going to snap out of it and say no that doesn't make my mom happy that I'm not foolish and with that I speak life and my kids and and build them up I make them breakfast I make them much I make them I serve them because the reason why I serve them is because they are a gift and people are like oh you're spoiling your kids I know in they don't know how to work those cells out I don't think so you know I really feel like they're I guess from God God gave them to me for a certain amount of time and and I'm here to mold them and bring a foundation to them so hopefully that they go and serve in the way God intends and that was kind of the service I'm giving that I was tired and so look we could try this back to purpose and passion because now we're talking about 2 different roles we're talking about a player ever talking about culture it's right and the thing that we have to do is we can't book orders and coaches in the same rule one according to purpose of passion cultures may just be interest in the players because they're going to help them win and be successful right that's a better means that they're passionate about the person I mean that they care about the person after they leave their program and so that's where we have to have. Because purpose is that thing that makes us take the extra minute with somebody's purpose with that thing that gives a patient a listen and years of patience to instruct when you get just doing it out of passion you can do more harm to someone then you can do good and so you know when it comes to me doing Insanity workout or whatever it is for you whether it's you know about musical instrument or whatever and you're doing it just out of passion and passion on will stop doing it. Well if you have a purpose to hide what you're feeling I want to lose 25 I'll make to. Her that the passion and energy to the purpose is your goal and so you have to continue doing it because of the goals that have in your life because the purpose behind what we're doing right right and I just love all that I love that you know Dutch we had. The last 2 days we had 180 ministries on and 180 Ministries is a branch of Teen Challenge and Teen Challenge is basically a. National organization ministry that helps anybody with any kind of addiction they have different branches in different homes I call different homes they call different branches but the branch here in Denver is one way to ministries and it's for any buddy 18 plus older men that suffer from addiction and they were on both Monday and Tuesday with us and it was amazing to hear Daniel yesterday and he was talking about how he was rocking with the rock stars I mean he was a rock and with the Beastie Boys and smash mouth and all that stuff and Smashing Pumpkins I guess it was and thinking that he was on top of the world and how he realized. He didn't make a change she need to find that purpose he need to define passion that needed to change his life and he didn't have that and till he found his calling of what he was to do in really glorifying God he was just like whatever. I don't have any worries I don't have to worry about anybody but myself and I I find too often that that's really I think even if you are Christian Sometimes you walk away because you're like that's not there. Got And where is God if he's like really trying to pull me out of the pit and we're in and that's where I feel like we really need to really pull our faith and what we we stand for and I don't know I don't know what you think about that but I know you go into prisons all the time and you see people that are broken and they really ask Is God really there and I don't what does that look like when you're in prison and they're asking that kind of stuff. Well listen there are people in prison that are broken and there are people in prison that are angry that there are people in prison that are everything that people that are not in prison are you know it's just a microcosm of people that have been caught doing what most of us out here haven't gotten caught doing you know and I'm not necessarily saying to the come at the store or rob and kill somebody but all of us are guilty of something and here's the problem that is that we don't acknowledge the sim that is in your life all just stores up in a large bag and it sits on you until it becomes so heavy you don't have to deal with it some people take the way out of a suicide people take the way out of drinking or whatever it takes them knowledge their life so when I go into a prison the biggest thing that I look for 1st of all if I'm looking for the guy who I would follow and this is really big for people who are really trying to inject faith in Christ into other people I look for the leaders in the prison and the reason why is because I may not have the time while I'm there to spend with everyone right but if I can inject faith in Christ into the leaders that are in prison they that will be there and they then can inject faith it to the people that are in that prison system and so a big part of Faith this is that sometimes we just go off and do whatever we want to do and we know. Have a strategy one thing we know about watching Christ Christ was passionate eyes had purpose Chrysler people of hope was converted into the faith because it manifested through doing something action so quite had a strategy for everything he did and for every one that he encountered and the strategy with each person was always different that's actually of course thing about living in faith for faith and action is that you can't add just one way of treating or doing everything that isn't a formula and I've learned the spirit out for the side and I let you go ahead and respond that does not have formulas right to one day you may heal somebody by laying its hands on their eyes the other day he may spit in their eyes and make a mud pack he never did everything the same way because he knew if he did people would try to mimic it they would try to package it and they would try to sell it and never get back to court for it absolutely that's extraordinary I love it when to break it all makes plain my side in just a minute it's name 6 m.b. Can. Stay up to date and in the loop with the real trees Iraq by following her on Twitter at my stories Iraq also since you for her on Facebook at the real crazy rock. This is done Stevens of mercy ship's doctor who are with the Mercy minute. My friend has a Dutch And before we get going on a roll because you and I once we start gone it just goes the roll we roll but let's let Kerry jump in here because Kerry is going to announce because we've had like I said 180 ministries on with us the last couple days and they have a huge concert that's going on our Red Rocks church is an awesome church here in Denver they are rock and roll and they have some of their own from $180.00 ministries that's going to be performing on April 26th Carrie can you give all that info yet on Friday it's Friday April 26th at Red Rocks church and it's the golden campus the doors are. But he at 7 in the show starts at $730.00 but the guest of that night is going to be any mean you know and no name who you just said is actually came out of one eating ministries and so they're going to put on a concert and it's a talking and out there is going to be an offering it's taken it talks about so that you can they can fight drug addiction and get tongue tied today but it looks like it's going to be fantastic so that's $26.00 on Friday night $7.00 to $730.00 and if you'd like to get some more information we do have it on our website so if you go to broken and beautiful dot net We have an Events tab and it's right up there at the top Yeah I mean so they are awesome here at 20 and they're doing awesome work and Red Rocks churches doing amazing work over a 1000 people were saved at Easter which is cool and they were they went into the 1st big center here in Denver so that's very cool and we're just I'm happy to have them as friends so Mr Dutch you in Dallas though are with I am 2nd and you have a website Well your Facebook page is most important right now. Is that correct Well there are all important because everybody has a different need so if you need to be encouraged to have somebody that wants to learn more about the faith they need to hear testimonies that inspiration where I am 2nd dot com There's just powerful powerful face testimonies put on that website and people that you may know famous or some people there who are they all have the same story on the ice but because he loves us all but I want you if you're if you want to be a friend of mine I want to follow the bad boys away b a t b o y s p r a y r you know our bad boys pray they do and you do when you're awesome and you're anointed and it's awesome so we were talking about all kinds of stuff and you were talking about. How God does not have a formula and you know that is so true and you know I just feel like God is trying to get our attention sometimes he has to rock the boat a lot and I for me I'm a single mom more and for. Me I try to tell the kids you know you're not called to be complacent you're not called to be needy or occur or mediocre or whatever it's called whatever that word is that you're not supposed to be a medium type of person you're not supposed to be complacent do you not see here just to be here God is called all of us to do something and you have a purpose of your breathing you have a purpose and some of us don't believe in God so I can't even imagine that and I know I have a lot a lot a lot of nonbelievers that listen and thank you for that but my hope is that someday I'm praying for all of you that you will see that God called you and intends you to be something and for my kids I tell them all the time to be extraordinary that it's not that I'm living vicariously through them because if I was I'd be everything they do I mean like I really trust them I mean like being a single mom of 4 I don't have all the time to be with all 4 of them living vicariously through him like I don't I don't have that time you know but one thing specially with my daughter I guess. Freshman and she's in high school and in one of our things with her going to high school that she's going to that she had to be a leader instead of a follower and everybody's like really you you said that to her Well yeah I did because I believe that and I speak life into her and one thing I say to her all the time is that bad company corrupts that character you're going to you're going to surround yourself around the people and you were talking about leaders and I kind of want to go there I kind of want to go with what you were talking about and I was going to tell you that I had written down and you did not know this but I had follow the leader who is your leader. I did it's him I know I wrote it down and you just did not know that. Following the leader I'd like to 1st of all you quoted the very powerful verse which is that when you follow after people who have bad manners you will have those kind of manage yourself at 1st Corinthians 15 and I believe he is 33. I won't put that out there because I want people to study the Word of God Listen it's great to sit here and listen to talk on the radio but it doesn't replace what happens when you spend time reading right the Word of God and learning it for yourself so evil communications will corrupt good manners 2nd Corinthians 1533 you know that before we go when we go back to leadership we go back to God does not have any formulas and when we go back to a person cannot have really extreme will change until they have internal change and this is how you know and God is prospering some of this is God's prosperity 3rd job number 2 says Beloved I pray that you may prosper and be in good health even as your soul prospers this is a lot of time and Prosperity Gospel teaching money but we all know that God wants to prosper us in our lives so that we can enjoy a life where we can have peace in the life. When we come under the task of doing something we don't want to do maybe if it doesn't touch on a face. Coming down so hard on her it's breaking her spirit and never building her spirit up right if it's if it's it's a case where she's playing a musical instrument. She has her set of circumstances if it's me doing you know the silly example of May doing Insanity unless there is this internal strength that is developed. The extra manifestations of things will never take place and the beauty of God is that God allows all of us to encounter resistance and a life not to defeat us but so that we can become stronger in the things that we're going to encounter in life so it can tell us about that never have to experience anything because the parents take all the burden off of them and everything they do guess what they're going to do with their grown up and adult and then counter losing their job they're going to go back to the parents right but somebody who has been trained up by the parents to be independent like you said I don't control much more than I have time to control what you and I think that I have to do myself when children are allowed to experience life on their own and they're allowed to offer what they're going through off parents often leaders offer people that they can trust in their lives it gives them independent strength to grow and develop so that they can then experience and be successful in the challenges that God has set in their life in order to prepare them for the purpose that he has for them to do absolutely and just so you know I have my Bible here with me and it is 1st Corinthians Chapter 152-3333 yes or yes so you are correct and so you know that's my one of my favorite person in teaching my children because I feel like there's so many times that we are misled and we whatever we surround ourselves with and even as adults I mean you're going to make choices because of what you surround yourself with and you become what you're around and I think that's one of our mishaps with people that we we just I don't know I was talking about with Daniel from one a.d. Yesterday about being a rock star and how many times we think we're rock stars and we were thinking we're all that in the world and we're hanging with certain people in the world but really what what's that look like in God's eyes are I'd rather be a rock star and I had asked them. What is the difference between being a rock star in the world and being a rock star for God. And I don't know I don't know if you want to answer that but I asked Daniel that. Actually And so he was just like there's no difference. Go ahead you know that's interesting because I was talking to our good rabbi here at Crawford. He with saying what's wrong with being average in the world what's wrong with what's wrong with just having you know one job one car one house but being but doing things for the Lord you know and you're not you know you read the Bible you study where you go to church that's the average status in God's eyes but which one would you take over the other and I look at my status in the world and I look at my status with God and I just can't I really love looking at my my place in life through God's eyes Sure well I'm not that's how I feel I didn't feel that way in the past but I definitely feel that way now I mean I definitely my perspective in life has changed dramatically from what it was when I was younger and I guess my hope and my prayer is for all my friends that are out there that have not witnessed his beauty and his love and his compassion and what it means to really really be rich. Yeah and I just I like to look at my life through God's eyes more so in the world's eyes because in the world's eyes you know I am pretty average you know for someone who has graduate from college I guess you know but in God's eyes I'm doing more and it's all about finding our identity and him anyway because that's what will be eternal absolutely What do you think Dutch I mean what do you think about me and Rockstar and you know you had the rock star life I mean you had all I mean like what you said this is the life life does not get any better than this you would say that all the time and you know that's part of your testimony life doesn't get any better than this and that was the rock star life you know being the bodyguard for j. Lo and p. Diddy and you know what an amazing lifestyle then really falling back and not like falling back like it's a bad thing to me it's you you stepped up a notch because now you're you're you're serving and giving to God and not serving and giving to the world does that make a difference. You know I think that I went through and interesting dynamic experience because I already mentioned you know I encountered Christ that a person felt and so when I came out of prison it was really great for me but I didn't you know I try to all of. What I have been for. Rather than really recognizing and understanding that what I have been through my testimony is the thing in my life that chose the power of God God changed me from who I was and who he wants me to be now here's the thing I know people want to take scripture out of context I do believe this is out of context but you know I used to be this man but now I'm a new creation in Christ Jesus great powerful scripture but that new man still has the old habit that no man still has. And that is the problem the process that takes place why do I say that because all I wanted to do when I got out of prison would serve God but the only way that I knew how to serve God was obviously you had to work in a church so I worked in a church and I put on the suits and I looked like everybody else in the church and I began to like everybody else in the church and then all of a sudden the church the side of the didn't want me in the church decided to get rid of me and so now I'm dealing with that passion that have turned into anger because I'm confused about my purpose. It was through that process that I began to say God you know I'm just trying to do what you want me to do and I will become argumentative in conversations with him it was finally after a lot of struggle that I ended up around the celebrity it was a window of opportunity to maybe for me to travel and do those things but listen I had people that were criticizing who I was dealing with now got you going traveling and being in this world around these celebrities around these people is on God but I love that just as much when I was with them and when I was sitting in the prison and I loved him when I was working at the church my love of God never changed and greater looked at me never changed right and that's one thing I want to share with people because I was able to impact people when I was trying to be like everybody else. But when I embraced dot found what I embraced changed me and my actual god into the celebrity lifestyle and I began to share with people while they were in that lifestyle about God I started to transform not only them but also here's the point when he spoke to me I came out of that lifestyle it wasn't because I didn't enjoy it while I was there it was because I had to go through all of that to understand the uniqueness of how God wants to use me in this life I didn't have somebody who modeled it for me so now I have to model that you will reach more people with faith in Christ Jesus being who you are where he found you then you ever really trying to get up and put on a white shirt with a black suit and a black tie and just one encourage people whoever you are wherever you are be God created you to be. And you'll reach people for him yeah you know I love that you just said that because that's one of my points is come as you are and I've said that the last 2 days come as you are you know God doesn't call us to be perfect and name be so cleaned up in a. All tied up and and get all beautiful before we come to him you know and I think I think it's such a misunderstanding of the church today and I talk about on Monday I think it was that about legalism and how we're trying to be perfect and I tried to be perfect and I broke down because I could not be perfect you know and I tried and I love God so much and I'm like I just can't do this anymore because I was trying to live for the world in what they expected to me and what a Christian looked like and then I feel like we fill Christians because we can't be broken but I have figured out my calling I have figured out my purpose along with my passion come together hand in hand that God has a purpose and when you've got that together it's it's it's like no other and it's like nothing that you can ever ask for so Mr Dutch we got in but could you give everybody one last word please. Well I would love to say cheese and everyone of us listening out there if God is pursuing you and he has been pursuing you from the very 1st day that your parents found out they were going to have a baby and have a plan for you to have a purpose for you he wants you to live in passion for him he wants you to have hope that is greater than the hope that you're living in right now anyone should experience faith faith in him because having faith in it will cause you to do things not for yourself but will cause you to do things for God When you enter into the family business God will take care of all of your business and so if you're listening out there and you know that you're a tough place in life again no you get angry with God You know you rejected him or you made you have that argument that I've had with you I want to do this opportunity to pray. Bad boys play their reality is all of us something that's bad . It's worse. I've no idea. What you preach forgive me. For the way that I have mistreated you what you feel. Russo with real answers. Welcome to defending the truth with Bob one hour of interviews commentary and respectful debate showing the truth of our faith as Christians really does stand the test of scrutiny so sit back and enjoy defending the truth with Bob to go on today's program Bob interviews Dr Michael Horton about his book a place for weakness preparing yourself for suffering later Bob discusses a new story about a dog skeleton found in Texas that claims to be the oldest dog remains at 9400 years old but 1st Bob and Michael Horton discuss Are you ready for the trials of life here on defending the truth with Bob here's Bob we're going to talk about the very real issue of suffering and it would be great if suffering were not part of. The Christian life the fact is it is you know we cannot kid ourselves and I think most of you listen in this audience have had periods of time in your life where you've experienced suffering and I I certainly have I think about different times through my life where there's been some very serious lows and very strong degrees of suffering in different levels probably none as serious as the sudden unexpected death of my teenage daughter obviously a few years ago yawn is probably the greatest level of suffering that we've had walkthrough. But the fact is this is part of living in a fallen world and no place in Scripture we promise that we will be free from suffering how we prepare for when that day comes as a Christian so that we can walk through it and that we can stand the test as James would say to develop that perseverance and that testing will bring While we're exploring all this now with Michael Horton he is Fessor systematic theology apologetics at Westminster seminary in California he is editor in chief of modern Reformation magazine author of over 20 books including the Christian faith a systematic theology for pilgrims on the way and this book entitled a place for weakness it was previously published as too good to be true and it's been republished Now it sounds paperback it's from Zondervan and Michael Horton joins me now Dr Horton thank you for being with us today glad to be with you thank you and so happy to have you let's talk 1st of all about the just the general concept of suffering because there are some people that feel like well if you become a Christian as should be peaches and cream and so one thing we need to establish that doesn't happen in real space and time and that's not promised in scripture that's right he did problems with the Rose Garden somebody thing a long time ago and you know it's not only because we live in a fallen world that's certainly true but also because God loves us too much to leave us where we are where he finds of he saves us he justifies us but then he also renewed and thank the 5 of them and very often he uses trial to refinance and that is one of the amazing things that God. Turned evil into good God doesn't make people good but he has a way of. Subverting the intention of Satan and and evil people and evil circumstances to bring about something that is far greater than anything we would have experienced if we hadn't gone through the suffering Sure well you think about the source of some of the suffering in the trial I mean you think about Job God didn't bring the suffering on Job Satan did but God allowed him to bring it on there's also suffering that can happen just as a result of the practical realities of living in a fallen world and then there are you know punishments very possibly by God and rebuking as well so how do we know when we're going through some suffering whether this is God allowing the devil to do it God may be bringing it himself Is it the hand of the devil with God's permission is it the hand of God at the back end of God Maybe is it just there's nothing spiritual about it we're in a fallen world and the engine fell off the plane. There gold chapter on that because I think that you know the only thing worse than going through a crisis itself and holding on to the crisis for dear life is to be told by a real well meaning brother sister what God is doing in this instance when God hasn't actually in fact told us what he's up to right and so now we've got to figure out. What we did that god punishing us for or what we're supposed to learn out of the and it's really freeing to people I think coach to learn that. First of all God's purposes are inscrutable that if they can't be. Searched out his ways are not our ways right.
