Welcome to a word for life a word for life is the radio ministry from the Word of Life Bible Fellowship in Tacoma and now let's join Pastor Michael Fields as he brings us a word for. The 4th chapter of study at births the reader was noticed if you will with the word of Lord a close with this is the whole there without a soul were to so down to verse $5.00 and $6.00. On stony ground where it had not much earth and immediately it spring up because it had no depth of earth but when the sun was up it was scorched and because it had no root it withered away. $16.17 and these are they likewise which are sold on stony ground who when they have heard the word immediately receive it with gladness and have no root in themselves and so endure but for a time afterward when a picture in or persecution arises for the word sake immediately they are offended . We've been dealing with. Something is. Something. Real. Something. You can see it in a lot of different. Information . Even in relationships people you can say to somebody. But I haven't really talked. To. And. As it relates to the sea that we're able to produce. And how it can. We want to see. We want to take. A look at. The whole. Earth and immediately. Because it had. Now as we begin to look at. Number of things that we need to take one thing is. That. Some of these seeds. Now. Should not be viewed. With the picture of the. Understanding or a better way to see the. Soil. Surface underneath. There is some type of rock. That was not easily penetrated and so you have so it's not like you have a lot of rocks all over the. And it's ground if covered littered with rocks Jesus was talking about ground that has spoiled on the top but underneath that soil there is some type of rock type substance some type of substance that is difficult to be penetrated you can't really get down through it it's there but it's covered by the soil on the top and so what the Lord is describing for us here is soil that does have the potential to produce and to be productive he's describing for us soil that does have the potential to produce it can produce but there is something underneath it that is there and it is blocking the seed of God's word from being able to really take root in that person's life. Is that this soil that the Lord is describing for us here and as I talked about there was we're talking about when will we I think it was last message or the message before that this soil is representative of the heart the mind the will of the new Bija will so we're talking about the heart of a person of the mind the will the soul of an individual that's the soil this soil that Jesus is talking about it caring produce. But there's something underneath it . That's blocking. There's something underneath that's blocking the seed of God's word that's keeping it from being able to really produce it once is there something underneath. Is there is underneath issue in some of. That is blocking the seed of God's word. Is there in underneath. Some folk have been underneath. It's the soil on top looks good but there's something in the. Some issues some say. Some habit some paddle some mindset some attitude something. That is blocking the seed of God's word from being able to produce in your life some issue some substance something that almost seems like it cannot be penetrated it's there but it's underneath it's underneath it's not readily visible to the. It's there but it's not easily see upon 1st sight or even 2nd sight. You look at the persons and all they look like they do in good they look like this to be able to produce they look like everything in spite of their lives their dress nice big they got themselves together they look everything looks good but underneath. There is something there. And it is blocking the seed of God's word. You have an issue some folk have a neat issue you have potential but that potential is covering a problem. You have possibility but underneath that possibility there is a predicament. You have promise. But just below the surface of your promise there is a certain propensity that you have that is there. And it is blocking the seed of God's word. Is an underneath issue. You look good on the surface everything looks fine everything was good like a bread you don't get to see a cup less the best the good as it should but all the while you're pregnant please don't expose my underneath issue. To reveal my underneath the issue. Don't don't don't get passed so that kind of discernment that you reveal how you. Do Is that the free look out list of good to see you got there. And let's talk after church. You don't want that conversation but Obama does do that kind of stuff he will speak to you speak to focus I didn't talk which you have to serve week because there's an underneath. On the surface it looks good everything looks fine. Everything looks promising. But below the surface it's something. And no matter how much the sea the dogs were. Seeing to get past that underneath issue. For some it's pride. For some it's. Some It's anger. Some It's a forgiveness. What is you underneath issue. You know what it is. You don't think he's a pastor I have no idea no no no no no no don't don't add lying to this that. Don't add to it. Because you know what it is. The seed of God's word has been tried to penetrate this time but every time it comes against that underneath and the Holy Spirit has said I will help you but we have to deal with this and every time he says this you pull back you know that he will not let me go given that in pretty good news I have a right. To know that's asking too much. It's in underneath it. Let me move on in my text Another thing that we want to take note of is Notice that Jesus tells us that this stony ground it had not much earth notice the text is this verse from Fell on stony ground were it had not much earth. That. It is it did have some soil that was there that had the potential for growth but there was not much distance between the fertile soil on the top and beneath issue that was there there wasn't a lot of distance between the 2. And so when the sea that was sown began to try and take root so that it could begin to grow in that person's life it didn't take a long while that underneath issue was encountered. There wasn't a lot of distance between the saw. And the underneath issue as soon as the feet tried to take root came smack dab against this that underneath this came right up against it now. With some dear ones for some of us that are here . There's no need for me to further elaborate or further explain this point. Out I don't have to explain it any farther this part right here of the message because for some of you this is the reason why some of you have seriously considered not coming to church a certain time. You seriously considered not coming to church for this reason because you knew everyone here because I'm talking to somebody I'm speaking beyond you I'm speaking beyond a service I was speaking to your soul right now. To some of you you know that as you just got frustrated get frustrated because you know if I go to church and the Word of God comes and if past there has been a good time with the Lord God will give him some to say. The Word of God will come . Out here the air and the Holy Ghost are going to try to use that word to deal with my life. But as soon as he tries to do it I'm going to have to deal with this issue. That unforgiveness that less than a bad temper bad tone bad attitude whatever it is underneath as soon as you heard the word as soon as you hear the Word of God the Holy Ghost is I want to help you but we've got to deal with this and that is the reason for something you get so frustrated knowing the deaths going to happen to some of you you seriously considered going to church. I know because I know this if you go come back out. I had to deal with this issue more and over and over again. Because some of you dear ones you've been hearing different messages but you've been dealing with the same issues. Very different messages we talked about Daniel we talked about the 3 Hebrew boys we talk about Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane we talk about a number of things but. We're again we're still dealing with the same issue. It's that underneath. That's there. Is the issue. Every time the message comes the sea goes tries to go down but it comes against that. And so forth the temptation to just stay away. In order to avoid having to deal with this cycle all over and over and over again. You deal with that temptation is real. That's all it has cost. More than a few. Now I'm not going to ask you to raise your hand or say Hey man I guess you do know. Baghdad get. This you know I'm telling you the truth you know and you know I'm speaking to you also right now that issue. Every time the word. Doesn't make a difference he was preaching doesn't make it was he was what the text is that the servants have been various and. And move to pull in the tropics and there's saws and the things that they were trying to address A but even though the topics and assignments have been various the one issue that has been preventing you from growing in really developing in the lord has always been the say. It it's right there it's the underneath face. Ok. And so and so we we Jesus says the slow this it has sort of on top but underneath that it didn't have much depth. Not much distance between the 2. There was as time has gone on the distance was but as time has gone on some of the top soil is one way. You know how you can be if certain parts of the country where the wind will blow so hard to blow the soil away from doing what you've been sitting under the weather for so long the big some of the soil between that. And that underneath issue some of that has blown away clear right now it used to be like this must distance right now about this was this. Year the topic today we go talk about it forgive this. One here that I'm just like turned off a list in the day. Just just your mind just goes with the top using just these are seeing it out of. The listening. Underneath. The underneath issue. Is stamped as a supposed So some for the temptation to not come has been real it's been the gist of it it's you it's been there but thank God for the whole to get. Things Done for the Holy Ghost. Because even when you tried to kill you all so I don't go I could go to day to day I was there at home I'm going to go out a door through this cycle of dealing with this under the. I just I'm tired of the struggle I'm tired of being passed I come in today and in the modern day technology you even got a call the past and say them you just text them past and come and live go on notify them female was I come in. But even though you may text me even though you may call me even though you may disregard me and do not know that one thing about your administration is you can't deny and you can't tell if you can't tell the family goes I need listening to you. Because he's the world but when you try to close your eyes to go back to sleep he stirred you when you tried to turn on the t.v. You couldn't turn the double loud enough to drown out him speaking to your heart. And he kept talking to use Siri new method of eating you're moving. To the point you just say oh I'm just going to go I just got to get up because whether or not you realize that what the Holy Ghost has been doing is he has been using the word of God even that underneath is he was there and he is using the word of God like a sizzle to chip away at that underneath issue. To chip data to chip better chip out a piece chipping away so that this seed of God's Word can take root and begin to really grow in your life yet you still pass to how can you be so sure about that I can be sure sort of that there was because the underneath issue that some of you had it doesn't have a hold on you like it used to. It and never will and you like it used to but fair that mind was made up at least now your mind is considering another option. Is chipping away at that on the the issue so souls might go for the Holy Ghost yet they return become the church as well as they got a thank you Father I thank you. Jesus son I thank you thank you Holy Spirit. For not given up on me. Still another thing. Still another thing that we want to take note of from what we see in the text it was as Notice Jesus now begins to speak to us about the seed and the soil and what begins to happen with both of those things so he begins to talk to us about the seed and the soil what begins to happen with both of them now dear ones I want to add Mitt to all of you that this is the part 'd of the text that quite honestly I was stunned I was just stumped for a long period of time over this part of the text because it just wasn't coming clear to me and the Lord had to begin to help me to understand the text because there was the Lord begins to bring several things together in what he says here 1st noticed that Jesus says that those soil once and receive the seed of God's word he says immediately it sprung up the Texas burst 5 and some fell on stony ground were it had not much earth and immediately it sprang up so Jesus tells us that there was an immediate response to the seed of God's word and then in his explanation in verse 16 he said he lets us know that this this what he says here in verse 5 is meant to represent the heart and mind no soul that gladly receives God's word verse 16 he says these are they likewise which are sold on stony ground who when they have heard the word mediately receive it with gladness. And soul this. Response is meant to be representative of all heart and a mind and a will that is receiving the Word of God and it is receiving it gladly now dear ones to receive the Word of God with gladly. This is not necessarily a bad thing in fact I would like to submit to all of you that it is actually. Giving and live producing see the word truly enters into the soil of a person's life when it truly is essential. And their soul. Would be sure. There are 3 things I'd like you to see in this little short section of scripture about understanding the name of the Lord in the midst of difficult times 1st of all it refers to his covenant that's clear from verse 4 I have also established. My covenant with them to give them the land of Canaan and the end of verse 5 I have remembered my covenant many people ask me what's the meaning of yah way we call it sometimes a touch or a Grom Aton which is a Greek word for 4 letters which they are in Hebrew and kind of pronounced with vowels y'all way this wonderful name of God or what what does it mean or one of the things is for sure is that a refers to the covenant of the Lord what covenant are we talking about here the Jews are in Egypt they're in bondage and the covenant he's referring to is that he said he would bless Abraham out of his seed the whole world would be blessed and especially He emphasized that is coming it was to give them a land a lot of us we haven't really fully appreciated that a land was a covenant relationship between God and his people but that he has tells us God speaking this land is mine and I gave it to Abraham Isaac and Jacob and their descendants God gave that to them and it's his call them now all through history we've had battles and wars over that land in Israel because of disobedience or idolatry immorality was driven out and but God brought them back God brought them back and did enough for over 1900 years of what looked like the death of a nation. And God brings it back to life exactly like he said What is this all teaching us it's teaching us that God will fulfill his word when he makes a promise he'll never go back on it his company said he will not break what does the name of God didn't mean to you and me well it has meant else should I it has been power but it also means that God will fulfill his word God will keep his promise God will never forsake the covenant he gave I think this spectacular turn to Psalm 105 please and look at verses 8 to 12. It says he has remembered his covenant for ever the word which he commanded to a 1000 generation which covenant he made with Abraham and his old and the Isaac and confirmed the same and to Jacob for a law and to Israel for an everlasting covenant What is this covenant verse 11 saying on to the will I give the land of Canaan the lot of your inheritance when they were but a few min number a very few. And strangers in it you know or maybe you haven't fully understood even what you heard earlier why are some people so committed to that land I mean why don't they just all you know kind of work together and give it some of it up and you know will this and folks no matter what peace keeping process the world comes up with God is going to keep his covenant is going to keep as we're now I'm not a popular speaker in some circles on this matter I want you to know and again I'm very stubborn on it and I admit it I'm very stubborn hopefully not proud but stubborn I believe this so strongly that I believe what God said to Abraham where the dimensions of the land are also true. That by listening. According to Genesis 15 the land begins at the river Euphrates which is in Iraq. Now all the Syria belongs also to the descendants of Abraham Isaac and Jacob It goes clear to the river of Egypt. Yes Egypt will give back the Sinai it's only a question of time and I have had. Christian audiences absolutely upset over this like I'm causing problems I'm causing problems I'm just believing the Bible. God said he was going to do it God's It is an everlasting covenant and he's going to do it now why are you and I having trouble in our life in many many situations why because the 2 reasons one we forget that he's a god a power nurse and anything too hard for him to do and number 2 we forget that he's going to keep his where he's never going to go back that what we start doing we start questioning. We start doubting whether God will do what he said everything I am and believe in ever hope to be is all based on what God has promised and his were God said it he's going to do it and that's what it means when we say y'all way the Lord Giovan it refers to his company is going to keep his word but go back to Exodus 6 or something else here it not only refers to his covenant when we're trying to understand his name but this name responds to the cries of his people I love that. You want to know what the name of God means ya way it means not only that he's keeping his covenant and his promises to us. But he always responds to the cries of his people I don't know any more beautiful or sweeter words that you can find in the Bible than an exodus 6 in the 1st part of verse 5 I have also heard the groaning of the children of the surreal go back to chapter 2 fleas and look at verse 24 And God heard their groaning and God remembers his was a covenant with Abraham Isaac Jacob they're not even in the right geographical location they're down in Egypt I promise to give the land of Canaan I heard their cry I remember my cup of it I'm going to bring them to the land of king but a chapter 3 verse 7 and the Lord said I have surely seen the affliction of my people who are in Egypt and have heard their cry by reason of their taskmasters for I know their sorrows. Sometimes we're crying. Whether without word tears or with inward pain and I want everybody in this audience to know at the Lord hears your cries. The Bible says in solemn 34 that many are the afflictions of the righteous but the Lord delivers him out of them all he hears the cries of his people. Maybe you are really hurting over something the Bible says the Lord yall way is near to those who are broken hearted there isn't a tear you've ever shed there's not a pain in your heart you have ever held at the Lord does not see and know and here is. And he desires to comfort you and he desires to deliver you and sometimes our pride and arrogance and our stubbornness is keeping us from knowing the joy of God's healing touch he's a wonderful Lord and He hears everything including your cries in The Great to know that's the character of God He's not a god that needs to be roused up or yelled out or screamed out or hey I need your attention where you work in China today rather than here no you don't need to do any of that the Lord hears everything and he knows your sorrows he identifies with your pain and he will comfort you and he's promised to deliver you his time his way you can trust him because he's ya way he keeps his word and he hears her cries he remembers his covenant He never forgets he always remembers his governor. Aren't you glad he's remembered unity doesn't forget. What a terrible thing would be of tomorrow and come to the Lord want to pray to Him and He says David who I don't remember him you know what a tragic No he's always his ears the Bible says are always open to our cries. May God help us never to forget it now we looked at the invitation of Moses to see what he will do in verse one and his identity the reveals what he will do vs 2 to 5 and then in verses $6.00 to $8.00 look at his instruction to Moses about what to say what's the theme here do what the Lord says now under this instruction and we're just going to take this portion of it will pick it up here in our next time but I want you to see 3 things real simply here let's look at verses 6 to 81 more time it says were for say into the Children of Israel I am the Lord. Go back to verse 2 that's what he started off with he said I am the Lord now he's picking up again saying to the children visceral I am the Lord and I will bring you out from under the burden of the Egyptians I will read you out of their bondage I will redeem you with the stretched out on I'm emigre judgments and I will take you to me for a people and I will be to you a God and He shall know that I am the Lord your God who brings you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians and I will bring you unto the land concerning which I did swear to give to Abraham to Isaac and Jacob and I will give it to you for a heritage the Lord. Of the next time you say who is God Remember this passage I am the Lord here's what I will do I will do this I will do that I will do all of this I will to death and you will know that I am the Lord has a pretty powerful section of scripture. 3 things 1st of all in verse 6 he mentions his complete redemption he uses 3 phrases here I will bring you out I will read you out and I already knew you could be brought out and still be in bondage so to speak it just changed geographical locations but he said I'm going to rid you out. I'm going to just take you completely out of bondage but it isn't just that I'm going to redeem you I'm going to set you free God can do that is complete redemption go to Deuteronomy Chapter 7 and look at verses $6.00 to $9.00. For the hour are the holy people under the Lord thy God the Lord thy God has chosen the to be a special people into himself above all people are upon the face of the earth the Lord did not set his love upon you nor choose you because you were more in number than any people for you with the fewest of all people but because the Lord loved you because he would keep the oh so his covenant which he has sworn in your father's house the Lord brought you out with a mighty hand and what was this a reed deemed you out of the house of a slavery a bondage from the hand of feral king of Egypt no Therefore what I learned about God No therefore that the Lord thy God He is God the what kind of god faithful God who keep its coveted and mercy with them who love him and keep His commandments to a 1000 generations what are we going to learn when we learn about God redeem his people out of Egypt we're going to learn that he is a faithful God he will do what he said I will bring you out I will read you of all that bondage and I will redeem you set you completely free the 2nd thing I notice in verses $6.00 to $8.00 is his continuing relationship to them it's one thing to bring completely demolition but God doesn't leave us to fend for ourselves he will have a continuing relationship with us that's why verse 7 of Chapter 6 says I will take you to me for a people and I will be to you a gun is there anything more wonderful than knowing as a songwriter said Now I belong to Jesus. And he belongs to me. You are his people the sheep of his pasture come and worship you belong to him. What a beautiful thing to tell them and 3rd I notice his coming revelation is going to be clear it says and you shall know verse 7 that I am the Lord your God to bring it to you out from under the birds of the Gyptian Zz in all that God does in all of his marvelous works and his ways what is he trying to accomplish he wants us to know him if you ever wanted somebody to really know you. Have you ever want to really know somebody that's a part of being a person God is a person he wants us to know him and he said I'm going to do all of this so that you will know that I am your God And one final thing in verse a look at his comforting reassurance in verse 8 I will bring you into the land concerning which I did swear to give it to Abraham to Isaac and Jacob and I'll give it to you for heritage I am the Lord he repeats it again God never stops bringing assurance to his people he knows are going to doubt it he knows the circumstances of their life will sometimes make them think it's never going to happen you member what Joseph said in Egypt Genesis 50 what he told them to do when I die and you guys get it out of here or they do. Take my bones up there it shows a new that even if he died God is still going to fulfill his word do you. Do you believe that that even if you go your whole life and never see any blessing and deliverance do you know that God still will ultimately fulfill his word even in your case he will deliver you I was talking to a gentleman last weekend who was speaking of a family member that was dying and said to me. Why doesn't the Lord do something I said what you want to have done well I wanted to be healed I said how good of a healing Do you want well I don't know I usually so they could. Enjoy life. Well how about really heal them I mean so perfectly that they would never be sick again he said well I yeah Ok I don't know the Gaza do that but yeah that sounds good to me I said you know how God can do that he said how. By your loved one dying isn't what you say.
